Standing alone with no direction
How did I fall so far behind'
Why am I searching for perfection
Knowing it's something I won't find'

In my fear and flaws
I let myself down again
All because I run
'Til the silence splits me open, I run
'Til it puts me underground
'Til I have no breath
And no roads left but one

When did I lose my sense of purpose'
Can I regain what's lost inside'
Why do I feel like I deserve this'
Why does my pain look like my pride'

In my fear and flaws
I let myself down again
All because I let myself down

In my fear and flaws, I run
'Til the silence splits me open, I run
'Til it puts me underground
'Til I have no breath
And no roads left but one
No roads left but one

In my fear and flaws
I let myself down again
All because I run
And the silence splits me open, I run
And it puts me underground
But there's no regret
And no roads left to run

General Comment:This song is the best from minutes to midnight bar NONE. Mike is a amazing singer and it angers me how he barley appears in minutes to midnight. This song generaly is something anyone can relate to. We all tend to struggle and runaway from our problems but eventually we have to face them. No matter what they are.

General Comment:To me, I think what Mike is saying that there is only one road we all walk on. Life, in a sense of the word. We all have different destinations, but we all end up on the same road to Death, where we leave this life and head towards another one.

General Comment:i was just listening to this song and i think it's pretty obvious that it's about perfectionism i.e. "fear of flaws"

but i was trying to think of a more specific meaning and i think it's about writing for minutes to midnight and mike/linkin park selling out. (don't get mad at me.. linkin park are one of my favorite bands)

    "Standing alone with no direction
How did I fall so far behind
Why am I searching for perfection
    Knowing it’s something I won’t find"

if you listen to the hybrid theory demos, lp had to change a lot of their lyrics to get a record deal so the songs will be more catchy. it seems like he's saying that he's lost the original creative direction he wanted to go with the band and started trying to write "perfect" lyrics to appeal to fans.

"In my fear of flaws [i think it's of]
    I let myself down again
    All because I run
'Til the silence splits me open, I run
    'Til it puts me underground
    'Til I have no breath
And no roads left but one"

basically, again he was afraid of flaws so he wrote what people wanted him to write, not what he wanted to.

"When did I lose my sense of purpose
Can I regain what’s lost inside
Why do I feel like I deserve this
Why does my pain look like my pride"

as an lp fan, i hate to admit it but they did sell out when they got the record deal. but i think they regained themselves with m2m and did what they wanted to rather than what they expected fans to want. his pain looks like his pride because painful experiences = inspiration for good nu metal lyrics.

idk.. now that i write it, it doesn't seem to make as much sense but that's what came to mind when i was listening to it.

General Comment:this is all around such an amazing song... i don't really care if it made it to the album or not, as long as it reached my ears.

AHH! Mike is such an amazing/talented individual. i agree, he should sing more. this song wouldn't have been the same with chester's vocals. chaz said it himself.

General Comment:To me, he has a lack of confidence. When he thinks he can do something, he gives up and runs at the last minute.
    "In my fear and flaws
    I let myself down again
    All because I run"

But then in the end after running away from his fears, he has to face his fears anyway.

And no roads left but one"

General Comment:oh yeah i forgot to add what i thought the meaning of it was. lol

i think its kinda like alot of other LP songs just done in a far greater way. (im talking about the lyrics) their very in depth but at the same time very vague
he's definetely upset with himself. maybe he failed at something a while ago and is now afraid he'll fail the same why he did then. so he just runs away from his problems until there's no roads left but one as he put it.

it's a great song and I love how Mike experemented with the vocals. he has really decent voice he should sing more often
