For a while I thought I fell asleep
Lying motionless inside a dream
Then rising suddenly I felt a chilly breath upon me
She softly whispered in my ear

Forsaken, I have come for you tonight
Awaken, look in my eyes
And take my hand
Give yourself up to me

I waited painfully for not to fall again
Trying to silence the fear within me
Out of the night and mist I felt a stinging kiss
And saw a crimson sting on her lips

I have to know your name
Where have I seen
Your face before?
My dear, why don't you be afraid?

Forsaken, I have come for you tonight
Awaken, look in my eyes
And take my hand
Give yourself up to me

Take me far away
Close your eyes
And hold your breath
'Til the ends of the earth

Forsaken, I have come for you tonight
Awaken, look in my eyes and take my hand

Forsaken, fly away with me tonight
Awaken, renew my life
Now you are mine
Give yourself up to me

    Song Meaning

As astonishingly weird as this may seem, Labrie said at a concert I recently went to that this song is about a parasitic alien race that feeds on our blood and uses us to "incubate". My friend and I looked at each other with the exact same expression on our faces; "WTF!?!?". I always thought it was a love song, but there you have it. It makes sense if you look at the music video for the song, with the spaceship at the end and the sort of tubes stuck in his arm at the beginning, but still it's pretty weird.

Anyway, great, great song, possibly my favorite ever of all time in all the world. DT rocks!

It's got to be about a guy who has been heartbroken by his last relationship, therefore "forsaken". He then meets another girl who is looking for his love("look into my eyes and take my hand"), but he is afraid to give any to her ("trying to silence the fear within me"). Even so, he finds himself slipping into love unintentionally as the she leads him on ("saw a crimson stain on her lips"). The guy has now completely "given himself up to her" and fallen head over heels. ("take me far away...to the ends of the earth"). He realizes in the end he has made the same mistake as before. ("Now you are mine"). Basically about the end of old relationships and the start of new ones to be really simplistic :) I likened this to my first breakup which was terrible and the girl whom I dated after that.

i think the vampires' thing is a metaphor. here is my opinion about the meaning of this song: the music video starts with a light showing up in his room, that wakes him up and he realises he is stuck in a chair with cables coming out of him, connected to his heart that is shown far away from him. when the light appears his heart starts shining. i think the cables may represent the reason and logic, and the lack of emotion or passion, that don't let him be free and are controling his heart. the light waking him up represents some thought that made him see that he wasn't really living his life. that's why appears "awaken" in the song's chorus. "For a while I thought I fell asleep Lying motionless inside a dream" he means that he was living a meanless life, and he didn't even realise it. "Then rising suddenly I felt a chilling breath upon me She softly whispered in my ear: Forsaken I have come for you tonight Awaken Look into my eyes and take my hand Give yourself up to me" a shining woman appears and speaks to him, telling him to come with her. he tries to touch her but he can't. so, he breaks the cables that are holding him. well, this represents the temptation that defeats the reason, and he decides to live his life freely. he starts running away, following the light, that means freedom, and breaks the window's glass of that "prison", where he was living. he starts falling, but the woman saves him. this i don't understand what it means, maybe he is out of control and she helps him, i don't know. "I waited painfully For night to fall again Trying to silence the fear within me" he is scared because he is no longer between that walls that could protect him. when anyone takes chances, they are always afraid of something that can go wrong. "Out of an ivory mist I felt a stinging kiss And saw a crimson stain on her lips I have to know your name Where have I seen your face before? My dear one don't you be afraid" well, in this part, i think that "I felt a stinging kiss" doesn't really mean a bite, like it was already said. in my opinion it is a metaphor for the moment when he fell in love. "stinging" and "kiss" are two words with opposite feelings: pain and pleasure. that are the main feelings of love, a combination of really strong contrasts. when she bites him, his veins turn black, like she had sent a poison to his blood, representing all his addiction for her, and the fact that he had a part of her inside him. it also makes his heart (symbol of love) shine strongly, now shown inside him. he seems to become mad, crazy of love. since then his eyes turn red, like he started to see the whole world differently. and he can also see her clearly now, he starts to get to know her. and he sees her beautiful. the passion becomes love. "Forsaken I have come for you tonight Awaken Look into my eyes and take my hand Give yourself up to me Take me far away Close your eyes And hold yuor breath To the ends of the earth" they fly together: he now feels free, like in a dream. they are alone, flying through the sky: they feel like there's no-one else but both of them. she shows him beautiful things, things he had never seen/felt before. then, suddenly, there is an eclipse and all that light that existed before is gone. there is a hole new dark backgroung, when a huge spaceship appears, something they didn't know to exist in that amazing world they thought they knew. they try to fly away from it all and he asks her to bite him again. that is the last paragraph: "Forsaken Fly away with me tonight Awaken Renew my life Now you are mine Give yourself up to me" she refuses, her figure starts to get unclear and she goes away. in the next scene, the ambient is dark, and he is now in the ground, freeless again, while he is holding her and watching her disappear from his life. his heart is dark and cold again, now in his hands, and he is feeling real pain. in the end, a light appears far away from there. it is the sun rising, a whole new begin. he stands up, ready to continue with his life.

Woaaah! This song is so amazing man. The guitar solo is absolutely one of petrucci's best. Maybe not the most difficult one, but it suits the song so wel! Cheers and thanks for the lyrics.

Yeah Vampires indeed, a female vampire siring someone. Easiest line to make this clear is "I felt a stinging kiss, and saw a crimsion stain on her lips" Stinging kiss being the bite, and crimsion stain being blood.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
