Lyrics for Don't Go as interpreted by punkpirate

Don't Go Lyrics
I saw your face in a photo today
Took me back to a time that I loved so
One thing remains that still gives me pain
The fact that I never got to say don't go

Don't go

Dark days fell upon this town that year
I remember the sordid talk and tears
A scarlet letter was sewn onto you long ago
But the way you felt no one will ever know

Turn on the radio and that song would play
Oh how the irony when I look back on that day

Don't go

Late at night you would tell me that it would all be fine
Realized our doubts weren't just mine
We would sit and contemplate just what to do
But I never thought it would be without you

Don't go

Now you're gone so I'll say our lives you changed
And I know my friend that I'll see you once again

bestt part, but this song is just..really great in general

check out the new albummm
may 1st it came out ^__^
pretty good

i think the song is about like reflecting back on what happened, and thinking if things had gone differently
maybe a bf & gf situation, but it could also be like a group of friends hving to say bye to some dude within their group

"Dark days fell upon this town that year
I remember the sordid talk and tears
A scarlet letter was sewn onto you long ago"? wouldnt relate to bf/gf things though...hmmm...

This song is so fucking great. i love the text. at most the first part. when i heard the song first time i had a tear in my eyes because this song remember me to my past. i interpret the text the same way as adelledah did. i think anybody uf us know the feeling when you are thinking back to the past and you feel the same pain like you felt in that time.

This song is great for dreaming about how everything could have become differently as it is now

It could be about Derrick Plourde, who took his own life in 2005. He drummed for the Caddies on Rock the Plank.

"I saw your face in a photo today
Took me back to a time that I loved so
One thing remains that still gives me pain
The fact that I never got to say don't go"

This can be taken as looking back on the better times, as well as the regret that those who are left in the aftermath of a suicide feel.

"Dark days fell upon this town that year
I remember the sordid talk and tears
A scarlet letter was sewn onto you long ago
But the way you felt no one will ever know"

This can be seen as a reflection on the year that Derrick died. The scarlet letter part can be that with his addictions and bipolar things were working against Derrick for so long. However, no one will ever truly know why he ended his life.

"Now you're gone so I'll say our lives you changed
And I know my friend that I'll see you once again"

One thing that has become clear, through interviews and Lagwagon's album Resolve, Derrick was loved by his friends and many of them say he changed their lives. I think this serves as a final goodbye, a thank you, and a hope to be one day reunited.
