Your warm whispers
Out of the dark they carry my heart
Your warm whispers
Into the dawn they carry me through

And I am weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me, surrounding me

Your warm whispers
Letting me drown in a pool of you
Your warm whispers
Keeping the noise from breaking through

And I am weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me, surrounding me
Yeah, I am weeping warm honey and milk
That you stay surrounding me

Your warm whispers
Your warm whispers

And I am weeping warm honey and milk
Your warm whispers
Yeah, I am weeping warm honey and milk
Your warm whispers

Your warm whispers
Your warm whispers
Your warm whispers

General Comment:This song is so vague and yet so relatable to absolutely everyone. Warm honey and milk is something comforting, and this person is a great comfort to her so she needs them around. She's pleading they stay surrounding her because even just sound of their voice (their 'warm whispers') make her feel so much better.

I absolutely love how this song can morph to fit the situation of almost anyone. To you it could be about your mum, friend, significant other, anyone who is your greatest comfort.

General Comment:i agree with the innovator on this one, i think there right on it - definately about a longing love that she is missing that she had a real connection with and he is gone, but will he come back????...only she can decide....

General Comment:Milk and honey have always been known as the ultimate comfort. Usually it's heated up, the warmth just seeps right in. If she's weeping it...maybe it's because she tried comforting herself so much, but it's not working? I don't know about the biblical part...but a lot of things are related to religious things without anyone ever realizing it. Missy could just be singing it as a comfort thing, without knowing anything of the phrase's history....or she could be referencing the source intentionally. Who knows. This song makes me heart hurt everytime I here it.

General Comment:I won't disagree that it's about sex...but I'm also Jewish and read the Torah very often. Repeated several times throughout each of the five books is that G.d promises the Israelites "a land flowing with milk and honey", and for some reason I can't help but associate this song with feeling a religious presence, "that you stay surrounding me", about being gay but knowing that He forgives you (or She, or whatever you believe) and is still with you. I think the sex, how wonderful it is, feelings like she's reached "the promise land" and so she cries tears of joy. It's so beautiful...quite possibly my favorite song, ever.

Now I don't now if Higgins has ever picked up a bible and whether or not these words are in the Christian Bible or not, but it's a part of the Old Testament if anyone cares to look.

General Comment:i think that in the song she is talking about god. there are a lot of references to milk and honey in the bible. i think maybe the song is sort of like a prayer. "your warm whispers, out of the dark they carry my heart." and "into the dawn they carry me through." its like shes talking to god. but i dont know. lol just a thought. i dont even kno if she's religious or not

General Comment:This song is about someone who loved someone and cared for them so muchbut it didn't work out the way it should have the guy left and was gone. She was so hurt and held on to the memories becuse that was all she had left washis warm whispers or the sound of his voice that soon she realized she washoldong on to the past and letting it surround her and take over her thoughts and block out the real world. Idk thatswhat I got out of this song

General Comment:i think that just because you know that secret is about a woman, and you know she says "she" in this song, lets not automatically assume they are linked to the same woman. She likes women so im guessing she's had more than one/many relationships with them throughout her life. Kinda bugs me when people make those associations.

General Comment:could this song be related to the song secret. missy has said secret is about being in a relationship with a woman but dosnt like it being a secret as the woman in question hasnt told people she is gay and ended the relationship. warm whispers could be related as she may be longing for that person agian. prob reading to much in to it such a lovely song.

General Comment:the honey and milk im pretty sure is a metaphor for her lover's "warm whispers"
honey and milk is warm, soothing, and comforting and she is weaping, or crying out for it because it's gone.
if you think of it that way pretty much everything else should make sense.
the "letting me drown in a pool of you" is because her lover's warm whispers is all that sorrounds her. or maybe metaphorically a pool of honey and milk, the comfort and warmness.

and she does say "she" glad she does cause it makes me love this song that much more.
this is probably my favorite song ever, it's beyond beautiful. especially her live version of it where she repeats "your gone" alot and it's ear-gasmic. =]

    General Comment:My interpretation:

She is dreaming a lovely dream about someone she lost... The whispers carry her out of the dark and into the dawn. She wants to stay surrounded, meaning she doesn't want to wake up. She is weeping because she is sad that she lost her, but it's warm honey and milk because in her dream, she is there with her, happy. The whispers keep the noise from breaking through because when you dream, you are completely immersed in it... surrounded... in a "pool" of visions and memories. At the end of the song, I think she wakes up and realizes that she is really gone...

Kinda fits the melody, too. It's very light and airy, in my opinion.
