Hands Held High Lyrics
Turn my mic up louder, I got to say something.
Lightweight step it aside, when we comin'. Feel it in your chest, the syllables get pumping. People on the street, they panic and start running. Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming. I jump on my mind, I summon the rhyme of dumping. Healing the blind, I promise to let the sun in. Sick of the dark ways, we march to the drumming. Jump when they tell us they want to see jumping. Fuck that, I want to see some fist pumping. Risk something. Take back what's yours. Say something that you know they might attack you for Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before. Like I'm stupid standing for what I'm standing for. Like this war's really just a different brand of war. Like it doesn't cater to rich and abandon poor Like they understand you in the back of the jet, When you can't put gas in your tank, These fuckers are laughing their way To the bank and cashing a check Asking you to have compassion and have some respect For a leader so nervous in an obvious way Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day In their living room laughing like, "What did he say?" Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen In my living room watching, But I am not laughing. 'Cause when it gets tense, I know what might happen. The world is cold, and bold men take action. Have to react to get blown into fractions. 10 years old is something to see, Another kid my age drugged under a G, Taken and bound and found later under a tree, I wonder if he thought, "The next one could be me." Do you see? The soldiers that are out today. That brush the dust with bulletproof vests away. It's ironic. At times like this you pray, But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday. There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads, Inside your market, your shops, your clothes, My dad, he's got a lot of fear I know, But enough pride inside not to let that show. My brother had a book he would hold with pride, A little red cover with a broken spine. In the back he hand wrote a quote inside, "When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die." Meanwhile, the leader just talks away Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day Both scared and angry like, "What did he say?" Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen. With hands held high into a sky so blue, The ocean opens up to swallow you. (x6) |

Say something that you know they might attack you for
Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before.
Like i'm stupid standing for what I'm standing for.
Like this war's really just a different brand of war.
Like it doesn't cater to rich and abandon poor
Like they understand you in the back of the jet,
When you can't put gas in your tank,
These fuckers are laughing their way
To the bank and cashing a check
Asking you to have compassion and have some respect
For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In their living room laughing like, "What did he say?"
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen
In my living room watching,
But I am not laughing.
'Cause when it gets tense,
I know what might happen.
The world is cold, and bold men take action.
Have to react to get blown into fractions.
10 years old is something to see,
Another kid my age drugged under a G,
Taken and bound and found later under a tree,
I wonder if he thought, "The next one could be me."
Do you see?
The soldiers that are out today.
That brush the dust with bulletproof vests away.
It's ironic.
At times like this you pray,

Favorite quote:
"For a leader so nervous
in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling
for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world
watching at the end of the day
in the living room laughing
like what do we say?"
How true...

in the back of the jet,
When you can't put gas in your tank."
--- Same could be said about Linkin Park band themselves, a little hypocritical I'd say. They managed to blame everything from gas prices, wages, existence of rich people, killing of cute bunnies on Bush.
It's lame LP has to resort to same childish anti-Bush rants as every other band.
If US Army didn't fight to free Europe, Japan and other places from nazism, communism and tyranny Linkin Park probably wouldn't exist or be allowed to sing anywhere.
Asses.

Anyone ever think that these "childish anti-Bush rants" are happening for a reason? Give it a decade and Bush will be remembered as the Tyrant he is, so much blood is on that mans hands its unreal.
Think gas prices don't have anything to do with Bush? Where are the wars happening? Where are the largest deposits of oil in the world? Yeah, same place... weird.

the comment on how the U.S. saved the world during WW2 was just so overwhelmingly ignorant of the sacrifice every other country friend or foe during that time. hell most of the world doesn't even have to wait a decade to see the tyrant he is. but now i'm just ranting on.
anyway good song and great message. i'm liking this new sound of Linkin park.

Maybe we have all misread the song . . . perhaps it has nothing to do with Bush . . . [wink]

Rager is a dumb douche.
07-16-2009
i cant see how u agree with him, yah?
anti bush rants? the bands are doin it to send out a message, but u thick headed arrogant bush supporters cant comprehend that him and his father where the WORST presidents that made the wrong decision 24/7 365.
dont wanna get into political veiws cuz thats when the fire starts to burn..
but america doesnt need dumbasses like u, we alredi had 2 dumbass presidents
Rager aint a dumb douche. u probably dont even know what a "douche" is, and if u did, it was obviously not a very smart insult
rager actually has a point, bush decided to completly ignore the european ALLYS that we have since wW2 and we have them for a reason! so that nether of us have to go thru a pointless war and for history to repeat itself.but he ignored them and did it anyway...i wish that flyin shoe hit him, he deserved it
now this topic is n the song. and i feel that it seriously brings out mike to a different level. great rapper. no lie.
