Lyrics for 3's & 7's as interpreted by Saint Sadistic

3's & 7's Lyrics
Lie, lie to my face
Tell me it ain't nothing
That's what I wanna hear
Take the lie to the grave
That's what an old friend told me
Look what it did for him

The truth hurts so bad
Wouldn't you say?
So why tell it?
If ignorance is bliss
Then I'm in heaven now

Run, you'll never escape
You see you'd go nowhere
Soon you will appear
Broke, laid to waste
Turn into sweet nothings
Kiss you goodbye

The truth hurts so bad
Wouldn't you say?
So why tell it?
If ignorance is bliss
Then I'm in heaven now

I keep going over and over again
To never ending places I've never been
No one's catching on, calling my bluff
The devil made me holier than every man
What you do, say it with a smile boy
Making us all forget

Great song!
I think this is about telling the truth, how hard it can be and how the truth can hurt you...
Or something..

O M G. I can already tell Era Vulgaris is gonna rock hard. This song is amazing. And yeah its about telling lies and what effect they have on you and others.

NEW ALBUM!! ive already downloaded a few songs, it sounds TRIPPIN! the drumming in this song is intergalactical. as for the meaning, its about how its always easier to ignore the "reality" of things and how the truth is much harder to handle, so lying is always the easy way out.

Kick ass song. Great new album. I got it about a month before it "technically " came out. Best crime I've ever committed!

The song is about lies an self-deception. The hard truth isn't worth dealing with, and the narrator doesn't.

He lies and gets away with it; but the song also has an undercurrent that I haven't figured out. The narrator seems to imply that the friend who took the lie to his grave is somewhere, (Bad? Or in heaven like in the chorus?) and the second verse seems to suggest some kind of end or something. It's more complicated than I can figure yet.

I thought this song was about the whole "Josh and Nick" feud that occurred when Josh kicked Nick out of QotSA. Well that's what I think about this song anyway.

is it intentional that the main riff sounds a lot like smells like teen spirit? not saying thats a bad thing--actually when i first listened to this album before i got through the first song it reminded me of nirvana in that it was so raw and new...

any ideas of the title? i read a passage from a numerology thats supposed to give you insight to your personality, anyway, there claiming that 7's are analytical and 3's are creative. the song could be an arguement between the two.

Numerology passage:

# 3 - THE LIFE OF THE PARTY - 3's are idealists. They are very
creative, social, charming, romantic, and easygoing. They start many
things, but don't always see them through. They like others to be happy
and go to great lengths to achieve it. They are very popular and
idealistic. They should learn to see the world from a more realistic
point of view.

#7 - THE INTELLECTUAL - 7's are the searchers. Always probing for hidden
information, they find it difficult to accept things at face value.
Emotions don't sway their decisions. Questioning everything in life,
they don't like to be questioned themselves. They're never off to a fast
start, and their motto is "slow and steady wins the race" They come
across as philosophers and being very knowledgeable, and sometimes as
loners. They are technically inclined and make great researchers
uncovering information. They like secrets. They live in their own world
and should learn what is acceptable and what is not in the world at
large.

All very great ideas there guys, but the song is about playing poker.
Having a 3/7 offsuit is the worst hand to start with in texas hold em. It's about bluffing in with that hand.

this song is friggen great. and whilst it doesnt particularly remind me of Nirvana like necrophage said, the main/ beginning riff thingy does kinda sound a lot like Smells like Teen Spirit. =] anys ways it aint a particularly bad thing.. but u can just see that QOTSA probs get a lotta bad comments about it sounding like it aint they... then again QOTSA dont actually give a flying shit.

@ Dangelles

It's not about poker. Having a 37 offsuit is not the worst hand. With 3&7os you can still get a straight. 2 & 7 os is the worst.

well, the numerology post was interesting, but i've gotta agree with Dangelles.

3/7 is a shitty hand, and this song is all about lying. So, poker-bluff gets my vote. Besides, the song kicks mad ass.

So ... how come every time there is a song about conflict, lying, and adversity ... someone thinks it has to do with Nick Olivieri?

I honestly don't think the band cares as much about Nick leaving as the fans do. Do you think that Homme is still pining over the loss 5 years and 2 (or 3) albums down the road? Seriously doubt it.

Besides, one of the greatest things about the Queens is their constantly changing lineup. Every album has a different feel, a different sound. The attitude and undercurrents remain the same, but the delivery changes.

In falsified numerical documents, 3s and 7s tend to occur at a greater frequency than other numbers. 'S what I figured it alluded to, but not many rockstars are into statistical mathematics, so ???

*nods* at darcynader...

i strongly doubt they are still sitting round, reeling over the fact they kicked that guy out of the band. im sure they got over it 2 albums ago. anyways, this is one of the best songs on the cd. and with that said, i didnt think the cd was that great. everything post-songs for the deaf, just seems like they lost their edge. and im not trying to spark a discussion on how good their albums are, just had to say that...
