Great song, but I can't help feeling some of the lyrics are just...weak, and nowhere near as poetic as his older stuff..

For Example:

"wonder when it's my turn."

It's just seems tacky to me...

However, this stanza:

"I pray to God,
that you're right before my eyes,
bathed in White light,
with Halos in your eyes."

Is up there with All the Way Down and Toys, Toys, Toys as some of his best lyrics.

it's obviously about the death of his mother aswell, just to give my 2 cents on the songs meaning.

This song is about Simon Neil's mum, who died shortly before the band went into the studio to write the new album..
"I pray to God,
that you're right before my eyes,
bathed in White light,
with Halos in your eyes.", is in reference to her..

It's also about losing your faith in God ("I met God and he had nothing to say to me") after losing a loved one in such a manner.

The voices of the choir send a chill down my spine when i listen to it, and when you know what the words are about they suddenly seem alot less tacky... awesome song..
I now want this played at my funeral when i die lol =)

i want placebos cover of Running Up That Hill for my funeral.

Anyway, i love this song, the intro on the album is immense, since on the radio they start with the choir. One of my faves off of puzzle i reckon, along with Machines... he really has written some beautiful words using his mother as inspiration.

sorry i think most of u have got the wrong meaning. It's about not wanting to waste your life, but about having no idea where to turn and suddenly being aware of your own mortality. it not particularly relating too his mum. btw AMAZING song. its soo relating to how i'm feeling right now. brilliant

Hmmm... if anyone has ever heard of Bleach... you should see an AMV of Bleach on youtube with this song.... talk about epic... beautiful song... amazing use of the choir and orchestra... just such a sick song! one of my favorite songs... havent heard anything like it... dont think i ever will lol

Basically, this is the only half decent track on the new album. I'm very disapointed as I am a huge fan of the previous albums. I also agree with what Rodders said the lyrics are qite weak on this song.
I do love Biffy though. A s much as I dislike the rest of the album, I do quite like this track.

This song introduced me to Biffy and wow..what an epic song it is. Still one of my favorites after listening to the other albums. I think The Vertigo of Bliss and Infinity Land are better than Puzzle, but that doesn't mean Puzzle is a bad album. Im struggling to find a song they've done that i don't like.

This song is awethome.. I thinks it about accepting that EVERYTHING will die eventually and finding consolation in some way... like bargaining with God:

i find that to be such a powerful line, and i love the venom that neil spits when he sings it.
