I hope the ring you gave to her
Turns her finger green
I hope when you're in bed with her
You think of me
I would never wish bad things
But I don't wish you well
Could you tell
By the flames that burned your words
I never read your letter
'Cause I knew what you'd say
Give me that Sunday school answer
Try make it all OK

[Chorus:]
Does it hurt
To know I'll never be there
But it sucks
To see my face everywhere
It was you
Who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew
Exactly what you would do
And don't say
You simply lost your way
She may believe you
But I never will
Never again

If she really knows the truth
She deserves you
A trophy wife, oh, how cute
Ignorance is bliss
But when your day comes
And he's through with you
And he'll be through with you
You'll die together, but alone
You wrote me in a letter
You couldn't say it right to my face
Well, give me that Sunday school answer
Repent yourself away

[Chorus]

Never again will I hear you
Never again will I miss you
Never again will I fall to you
Never
Never again will I kiss you
Never again will I want to
Never again will I love you
Never

Does it hurt
To know I'll never be there
But it sucks
To see my face everywhere
It was you
Who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew
Exactly what you would do
And don't say
You simply lost your way
They may believe you
But I never will
I never will
I never will
Never again

General Comment:Clarkson wrote this song in 2005 about an ex-boyfriend. The lyrics are quite hateful toward him and the girl he is seeing, as Clarkson calls her a "trophy wife" and hoping her finger turns green from the ring. Although his new girlfriend is naive enough to trust him, she's lost her trust in him completely.
In an interview with MTV News, Kelly Clarkson said, "I had somebody at my label say they didn't like it because it was too Pat Benatar. I was like, 'Now I really like it! I love her, and what's wrong with you?'"
David Kahne produced this track. He also worked on Paul McCartney's 2007 album Memory Almost Full.
Though this song tells of a relationship gone sour, the subject matter is not necessarily what the listener may think. Clarkson explained on her record label's website: "It's not really a boyfriend-girlfriend thing. It's more about trusting and putting your faith in someone and getting let down."

My Interpretation:I've always thought that, in this song, the guy murdured his girlfriend and is now she's haunting him. Also, I've assumed that he was having a string of affairs with his new wife and has a history of killing the women he was close to. It also gives the repeated phrase 'never again' a whole new meaning, as in she will literally never again be able to do those things. Take the second verse:
If she really knows the truth,
    She deserves you
(Saying that if she is still with him and knows he's killed and about his string of women, she must have a lot of faith in him)
A trophy wife, oh how cute
(Implying that she thinks that their relationship is little more than that)
    Ignorance is bliss
(Saying that she knows she won't know until it happens to her)
    But when your day comes,
    And he's through with you,
And he'll be through with you,
(This implies that he's never going to hold down a relationship; also backs up the serial killer theory)
    You'll die together but alone
(Saying that, although they're married, they'll never love each other)
You wrote me in a letter
What you couldn't say to my face
(The way I interpreted it was that he left this 'letter' on her grave, begging for forgiveness)
Well give me that Sunday school answer
    Repent yourself away!
(Saying that she'll never forgive him, even if he apologized to her grave)

General Comment:I'm just going to be a jerk and say this is from Big Brother's point of view in 1984.

    Think about it!
"Bet it sucks to see my face everywhere"
"You chose to end it like you did"
"When you're in bed with her you think of me"
"Don't say you simply lost your way"

Then he talks about them being "trophy wives" and how they'll die "together but alone" (remember in the book how the marriages were terrible?)

But of course, the real kicker is "Ignorance is Bliss". Almost from the ministry of ignorance itself!

Don't get me wrong, I do like the song. ;)

General Comment:Flip all the parts where she says him to her and it hits RIGHT AT ME....LEAVE ME FOR A CHICK?!!!

Overall the chorus are really immature and it reminds me of 'You Oughta Know' cept not as good! But assessing my situation I LOVE IT...and it does remind me of Don't Bother...i think i like angry chick songs lol

General Comment:I loved this song when it first came out, but I can really relate to it now....

Obviously about a guy that screwed her over but tried to give her the answers he thought she wanted. She was just tired of being treated like crap, and hopes he gets what's coming to him. Like she said, she doesn't wish bad things... but she definitely doesn't wish him well.

Ah, the perfect angry break-up song!

General Comment:I'm not quite fond of pop, but this song is pretty good. And, as someone pointed out, brings Alanis Morissette's 'You Oughta Know' to mind (though Alanis is way better of course).

General Comment:this song. is freaking. INCREDIBLE.
my last boyfriend kept me a secret from his friends because they don't like me for almost a whole YEAR. and he was "so upset he had to break up with me". yeah. he had a new girlfriend 2 weeks later.

"If she really knows the truth
    She deserves you
    A trophy wife
    Oh how cute
    Ignorance is bliss"
Here. Is where I really relate. I think he told her a fluff story so she wouldn't see him for who he truly is. My ex was an asshole, and apparently so is Kelly's. More power to you, Kelly!

General Comment:this is quite the self explanatory song but its so good. its all about how done you can be with someone and how you're so over it all that you're just enraged. i saw kelly sing this one live and she described it as the most bitter song shes ever written. theres definitely the bitter feel to it and i think everyone feels like this at the end of a relationship. i love the part "i would never wish bad things, but i dont wish you well" bc i'm the same way, except for this person who as mean as it is, it just hurts too much for me to hope them to be happy.

General Comment:well ok the song and the music video are different.
in the video, the guy clearly kills her and is haunted by her ghost everywhere, but its really all symbolic, because in the end she comes back to life, so really i think its that he broke up [ or maybe cheated] with her and she's so hurt its as if he killed her, and he can't get her out of his head so its like a ghost haunting him.
i like kelly, but shes so bitter and morbid sometmes, most of her songs are like her being angry, but whatever she's still really ggood.
and her outfit is kinda wierd and just a wierd music video lol

General Comment:i love how revengeful this song is. i don't really like the sound of it, to poppy. but the lyrics are amazing.
    so much fucking rage!
i can def relate to this song. it's about a guy that left her moving on with someone new, and she doesn't wish them happiness.
