In a dream I was a werewolf
My soul was filled with crystal light
Lavender ribbons of rain sang
Ridding my heart of mortal fright
Of mortal fright

Broken sundown fatherless showdown
Gun hip swollen lip bottle sip yeah I suck dick
Loose grip on gravity falls sky blinding crumbling walls
River sweep away my memories of
Children's things a young mother's love
Before the yearning song of flesh on flesh
Young hearts burst open wounds bleed fresh
A young brother skinny and tall my older walks
Ocean ward and somber, slumber sleeping
Flowers in the water, but I'm just his daughter
Walking down an icy grave leading to my
Schizophrenic father.
Weeping willow won't you wallow louder
Searching for my father's power

I'm a shake you off though
Get up on that horse and
Ride into the sunset
Look back with no remorse

He's a black magic wielder some say a witch
Wielded darkness when he was wilein' on his mom's
And born child and he was the bastard the that broke
Up the marriage evil doer doing evil from a baby carriage
And he was born with the same blue eyes
Crystal ships dripping with ice, diamonds coruscate
In the night fireworks electric bright
And now he's got his own two sons
Trys to hide his tears in a world of fun
But loveless bedrooms filled with doom
Bring silent heartache July to June
Swoon over new young hot flame
Mourn the memories later
Laugh now alligator

In a dream my father came to me
And made me swear that I?d keep
What's sacred to me
And if I get the choice to live in his name
I'll pray my way through the rain
Singing oh happy day

I don't mean to close the door
But for the record my heart is sore
You blew through me like bullet holes
Left stains on my sheets and stains on my soul
You left me broke down begging for change
Had to catch a ride with a man who's deranged
He had your hands and my father's face
Another western vampire
Different time same place
I had dreams that brings me sadness
Rain much deeper than a river
Sorrow flow through me
Tiny waves of shivers
Corny movies make me reminisce
They break me down easy on this generic love shit
First kiss frog and princess

I'm a shake you off though
Get up on that horse and
Ride into the sunset
Look back with no remorse

Tooo many comments so maybe someone already mentioned this, but this song seems to parallel themes from Sylvia Plath's poem, Daddy. They both deal with the "electra complex" which i know lots of poetry/lyrics do, but whats most interesting is that both compare these poisonous lovers to vampires. "Another Western vampire different time same place" ,. really made me think that there may be some type of connection. I recommend you read the poem ...i'll post the last two stanzas here but its easy to find on the interenet, so decide for yourself:

If I've killed one man, I've killed two-- The vampire who said he was you and drank my blood for a year, Seven years, if you want to know. Daddy, you can lie back now.

There's a stake in your fat black heart And the villagers never like you. They are dancing and stamping on you. They always Knew it was you. Daddy, daddy, you bastard, I'm through.

Bianca seems to be very interested in poetry so maybe she was influenced by sylvia plaths poem....just a thought

    My Interpretation

I don't know if anyone said this already, given all the comments go ten pages back, but to me it seems that whether this song is about molestation or simply a broken home (or both) the title 'Werewolf' comes from the fact that all these sad experiences/memories are related to a figure that is written off as a 'vampire'. In my opinion the speaker in this song is wishing they could be a 'werewolf' in order to overcome the 'vampires'.

"i don't mean to close the door, but for the record, my heart is sore. you blew through me like bullet holes; left stains on my sheets and stains on my soul".

these lines are some of my favorite lyrics of all time. this song in hauntingly beautiful and i went on a week or two binge of listening to it on repeat.

Even though it would make for a more scandalous story, I don't think this song has anything to do with molestation. If that were the case, there would be a lot more lines suggesting that.

The song is incredibly biographic: their father and mother divorced when they were young, and the sisters were raised apart; Bianca, the younger of the two, lived with their dad (a native american shaman,) until she was around fifteen, but eventually dropped out of school and lived as a drifter - as her father did.

This song seems to be about Bianca's realization that she doesn't want to live like her father, but she also must learn from the way he is, in order to grow and to keep herself grounded.

The parallels between this song and "Promise," from the same album, are uncanny and bare mentioning. It should be noted that in Promise, the narrator is giving a "tarnished offering," which she describes as "crystal light" between her thighs, and pleads that her werewolf not run away from her.

It's important to see this parallel, because then the sound clip from the beginning is given a little context - He is the lover that she is leaving. She has done a lot of thinking (about her life and her father, in particular,) and decided to keep herself "sacred*," so to speak.

*(note that the lyrics in the middle of the songs should say: "In a dream my FATHER came to me and made me swear that I'd keep what's sacred to me and if I had the choice to LIVE in his name I'd pray my way through the rain singing oh happy day")

so i must say, although at first i thought the father molested her, now all i can think of is that it's her BROTHER who molested her.

Broken sundown fatherless showdown---father's not there, can't stop what's happening between son and daughter

Young hearts burst open wounds bleed fresh---two young kids A young brother skinny and tall my older walks---mention of brother, clearly meaningful

Flowers in the water, but I'm just his daughter---sarcastic "i'm just his daughter", he should protect her from the brother

Walking down an icy grave leading to my Schizophrenic father---his sickness may have prevented him from stopping the incest

Weeping willow won't you wallow louder Searching for my father's power---she wanted help, she was waiting, "searching" for his help

Wielded darkness when he was wilein on his mom's And born child and he was the bastard that broke Up the marriage evil doer doing evil from a baby carriage---the brother's birth ruined the family

And he was born with the same blue eyes---same eyes as father, perhaps as her as well

Tries to hide his tears in a world of fun But loveless bedrooms filled with doom Bring silent heartache July to June---he's still sick and has sick thoughts, cannot be happy in this loveless bedroom, needs sexual pleasure

Swoon over new young hot flame---still has sick thoughts

Mourn the memories later Laugh now alligator Laugh now alligator---he feels guilty but he's still sick and cannot help himself

Oh in a dream My love(or father?) came to me And made me swear That I'd keep what's sacred to me And if I get the choice To fill in his name I'll pray my way through the rain Singing, Oh happy day---once she realizes she's worth it and sacred she can feel better

I don't mean to close the door But for the record my heart is sore You blew through me like bullet holes Left stains on my sheets and stains on my soul---actual rape

Had to catch a ride with a man who's deranged---had to depend on the brother because the dad wasn't helping her at all, and that led to her having to stay close with the brother

He had your hands and my father's face---the brother looks similar to his father

They break me down easy on this generic love shit First kiss frog and princess---she had no generic love, only incestuous "love"

I'ma shake you off though Get up on that horse and Ride into the sunset Look back with no remorse---she will be okay, eventually, she's hopeful

the encounters with men in your life reflect what you look for in a man being based on the things you grew familiar with your father. That many times these men are the fallen heros your fathers are.

I had typed up the lyrics from the liner notes. I just went back and edited them to match the sung vocals. Hopefully it's all good now?

    ...

The song has this great Western machismo melded with a pathetic cheating sleep-around father. It's about someone trying to both live up to that name and live it down. At the point in their life where they realize that all the men they've been with are just different versions of their father, and they're ready to leave all that behind and start over again.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
