A ty govorila,
Chto vsyo budet prosto.
Chto eto nam nujno,
Chto vsyo kak u vzroslyh.
Zamochki, shnurochki.
Razvody na slezy.
Sluchainiye tochki,
Vse ochen' ser'yezno.
Ved'...

Trudno byt' mal'chikom, yesli ty devochka
Trudno byt' devochkoi, yesli ty mal'chik.
A... a mojet ya budu Belochkoi
A... a mojet ty budesh Zaichikom

A yesli nam ubejat'
I ne oboznachit'sya?
Probely ne najimat'
Poslednii ne spryachetsya.
Razmazany kraskami,
Tupymi rasprosami.
Rasstanemsya s maskami
I my stanem vzroslymi
No...

Trudno byt' mal'chikom, yesli ty devochka
Trudno byt' devochkoi, yesli ty mal'chik.
A... a mojet ya budu Belochkoi
A... a mojet ty budesh Zaichikom

A... a mojet ty budesh Zaichikom?

Trudno byt' mal'chikom, yesli ty devochka
Trudno byt' devochkoi, yesli ty mal'chik.
A... a mojet ya budu Belochkoi
A... a mojet ty budesh Zaichikom

Translation:
And you spoke,
That all will be simple.
That it is necessary for us,
That all as at adults.
Замочки, шнурочки.
Divorces on tears.
Casual points,
All is very serious.
In fact...

It is difficult to be the boy, if you the girl.
It is difficult to be the girl, if you the boy.
.. And I can shall Белочкой
.. And you can will Зайчиком

And if to us to escape
And to not be designated?
Blanks to not press
Last will not hide.
Are smeared by paints,
Stupid распросами.
расстанемся with masks
And we become adults
But...

It is difficult to be the boy, if you the girl.
It is difficult to be the girl, if you the boy.
.. And I will be squirrel
.. And you will be bunny

. And you will be bunny?

The way I interpreted the overall song was that about a love between a boy and girl, both of which are supposedly too "young" to be thinking of such things. Maybe around ten years old or something. The girl wants to be with the boy, and vice versa. But "it's hard to be a boy if you're a girl, it's hard to be a girl if you're a boy." At these younger ages, boys and girls typically hang out with those in the same gender. A young boy is ridiculed by his peers as being sissy if he decides to play with the girl. A girl is a tomboy if she wants to play sports with the boy. These gender roles keep them apart. But, if she were a squirrel, and he were a bunny, it wouldn't really matter. Sure they'd be different, but they could frolic together all they wanted, without judgment, without a care in the world. Beautiful, beautiful song if you look at it that way.

I suppossed when you are a teenager, really young one, gay, or even straight, first, you think everything can be easy, later you realize that it's an adults' world and that makes thing harder, not as they were planned. Maybe the gay/lesbian issue is trying to figure out your role, your gender role, and feeling ypu should be a boy in order to be accepted by your girlfriend's parents of friends, you wish that coulb be done...And it's a very innocent image, desparate almost, thinking about being a bunny or a furry little squirrel...

But you told me That everything would be easy. That we needed this, And that's how grown-ups are. Locks and laces, Bursting into tears. Accidental points, Everything's very serious. Because...

It's hard to be a boy when you are a girl. It's hard to be a girl when you are a boy. Oh, but maybe I can be a little squirrel? Oh, and maybe you can be a little hare?

And what if we ran away And left no trace of ourselves And not get pushed over the gaps And be the last to hide? Smeared with paint, Silly questions We'll take off our masks. And become grown-ups.

It's hard to be a boy when you are a girl. It's hard to be a girl when you are a boy. Oh, but maybe I can be a little squirrel? Oh, and maybe you can be a little hare?

It's hard to be a boy when you are a girl. It's hard to be a girl when you are a boy. Oh, but maybe I can be a little squirrel? Oh, and maybe you can be a little hare?

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
