I feel it all, I feel it all
I feel it all, I feel it all
The wings are wide, the wings are wide
Wild card in sight, wild card in sight
Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one to hold a gun
I know more than I knew before
I know more than I knew before
I didn't rest, I didn't stop
Did we fight, did we talk?
Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one to hold a gun
I love you more
I love you more
I don't know what I knew before
But now I know I want to win the war
No one likes to take a test
Sometimes we don't pull or flex
Put your weight against the door
Kick-drum on the basement floor
Stranded in the thought of woods
Looking like the winter bird
On my head the water pours
Cops stream through the open door
Fly away
Fly away the one who want to make
I feel it all, I feel it all
I feel it all, I feel it all
The wings are wide, the wings are wide
Wild card in sight, wild card in sight
Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll end it, don't you start it
The truth lies
The truth lies
And lies divide
Lies divide
I feel it all, I feel it all
The wings are wide, the wings are wide
Wild card in sight, wild card in sight
Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one to hold a gun
I know more than I knew before
I know more than I knew before
I didn't rest, I didn't stop
Did we fight, did we talk?
Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one to hold a gun
I love you more
I love you more
I don't know what I knew before
But now I know I want to win the war
No one likes to take a test
Sometimes we don't pull or flex

Looking like the winter bird

Fly away
Fly away the one who want to make
I feel it all, I feel it all
I feel it all, I feel it all

Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart

The song is about a person have the life epiphany about the balance of life: of people, of relationships, of foilables of others, the weaknesses, the strengths, the love, the hate, and everything in between. In short, it's the recognization that one has the tools to see the very inner workings of another and be able to shape and manipulate people seemingly at will. However, Feist also recognizes (thank goodness!) the evil in forcing people to do things against their nature and also sees that only through the use of truth and good will towards others can you bring about positive change that won't leave good people angry in your wake.
It's a remarkably mature and breathtaking lyric, when Feist recognizes that in the end, the only one who can really destroy her is herself, through her own actions ("I'll be the one to hold the gun").

I feel it all I feel it all
The wings are wide the wings are wide
Wild card inside wild card inside
This song gives me the chills. She begins the song by saying how deeply she experiences her feelings towards her previous relationship. She says the wings are wide as in she is ready to fly, and there is a wild card inside because it could go one way or the other.
If she keeps letting herself remain in this relationship when she knows that it is toxic, she is going to break her own heart. She says she knows more than she knew before, meaning that she knows too much about the relationship and that it is not healthy.
She always goes back on what she knows in her heart to be true. She tries to deny that she doesn't know what she knows, that the relationship is doomed. They go back into a honeymoon period where they don't fight for a while and he doesn't treat her poorly hence the "I love you more! No I love YOU more."
She acknowledges the fact that she has to be strong and leave him. She uses the metaphor of putting her wait against the door holding up an entire gulf, and the loudness of a kick drum on the basement floor. She compares her love for him like a winter bird, she had been so strong and withstood so much and now it is starting to take a serious toll on her.
The whole song is pretty much her way of saying that she can't un-know what she already knows although sometimes she wants to. If she stays, she is staying with the knowledge that it is toxic and there will be no one to blame but herself when it inevitably falls apart.
"Ooh, I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll end it, don't you start it"
The guys can't break her heart if she breaks her own heart first. She'll end the relationship before it gets too far. She holds the gun.
But now she's starting the think that she wants to win the war of love. She wants to fall in love again...
So beautiful. I love it.
Sorry =/
Fly away to what you want to make"
Why does that part sound like another song?
"Oh I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one to hold the gun.
(...)
I'll end it though you started it.
I think this part indeed refers to her ending the relationship cause it was bad for her or hurting her. But meanwhile it hurts her to have to end it. This could be for whatever reason and the relationship can be in whatever form. Like an unrequited love, but more likely in my eyes.. a person who has been betrayed by their lover.
Therefore if she sings 'No one likes to take a test' I think in that part she describes how it feels when you feel torn. When you know rationally that you should let go of the realtionship and your love cause they hurt you, but you still love your partner. For instance: what do you feel when you find out that your lover cheated on you? Especially if the realtionship is good otherwise and you were happy and in love with the person, you can be very torn between your feelings.
All the feelings that come with this mix of pain, anger, sadness, relief, fear and love can create a very restless storm of emotions.. hence the line 'I feel it all'. I think the 'wild card inside' refers to her divided emotions and feelings and the outcome of them which is still undecided.
Another example of these divided emotions probably shows in the lines where she sings 'I love you more' right after she sang that she would have to pull the trigger on the relationship and break her own heart.
The dilemma of: Forgive and love them, or leave and lose them?
In some cases you have know other option but to choose for yourself. to let it burn (that's why I love the video, it accurately depictures the feelings she sings about) 'and fly away'. To break free from it all and the painful emotions.
The truth lies
The truth lied
And lies divide
Lies divide
To me this part obviously describes how things weren't the way she thought they were. And how lies can ruin things, tear people apart and the truth or situation as you knew it will never be as it was before after you find out.
When she sings 'I know more than I knew before' she probably refers to something she found out that changed her perspective on the realtionship or situation.
Then later she sings 'I don't know what I knew before', what could mean that first she thinks she knows what to do about what she found out, but then it turns out to be more complicated then she thought.
But either way, she know she want to 'win the war'. Possibly either the war she got in with her partner or the struggle she has with her own mixed up emotions, probably both.
Very strong emotional song, and with such an upbeat tune!
