Lyrics for I Feel It All as interpreted by lighthouse12

I Feel It All Lyrics
I feel it all I feel it all
I feel it all I feel it all
The wings are wide the wings are wide
Wild card inside wild card inside

Oh I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one to hold the gun

I love you more
I love you ore
I don't know what I knew before
But now I know I wanna win the war

Noone likes to take a test
Sometimes you know more is less
Put your weight against the door
Kick drum on the basement floor
Stranded in a fog of words
Loved him like a winter bird
On my head the water pours
Gulf stream through the open door

Fly away fly away to what you want to make

I feel it all I feel it all
I feel it all I feel it all
The wings are wide the wings are wide
Wild card inside wild card inside

Oh I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll end it though you started it

The truth lies
The truth lied
And lies divide
Lies divide

I think the part you aren't sure about is "on my head the water pours"

The last few words sung in the song--I wish one could actually understand it.

And I believe instead of "...come/ I know more than I knew before" it might just be "Can I know more than I knew before?/ I know more than I knew before!" A little more sense made?

A few more lines, too, are questionable. ("The truth lies"? How about... "The truth, the lies"?) Are there any official sources anywhere at all? D:
Other than that...
This song captured my heart, it's so... Iunno, free. C: Nuff said. (Kinda wish it wasn't so short, however.)

I hear "I'll be the one to hold the gun," but I might be completely wrong.
And also, at the end...
"I'll be the one who'll break my heart
I'll end it, though you started it
The truth, the lies"

i think this song is about
giving a relationship a second chance
but this time she's saying it will be diffrent cause she's wiser and she "knows more than she knew before"
and in this time she'll be the one to "hold the gun"

I think it's about being jaded from relationships which you were previously naive in and ended with your heart being broken by the other person.
Now, she knows more than she knew before, how people lie and can't always be trusted, but she can't help the way she is so in a way she is the one breaking her heart because she's allowing herself to be vulnerable and to feel it all.

Hmmm, I hear "Gulf Stream through the open door" as opposed to "cops stream through the open door". But I could be completely off.

It's:

"Wild card inside, wild card inside"

"No one likes to take a test,
Sometimes you know more is less
Put your weight against the door
Kick drum on the basement floor
Stranded in a fog of words
Loved him like a winter bird
On my head the water pours
Gulf stream through the open door"

"I'll end it though you started it
The truth lies
The truth lied
And lies divide
Lies divide"

According the the CD booklet.

To me the song is about getting away from a relationship that's toxic. The narrator is not running away from her feelings, but rather taking an honest account of her feelings and what she has learned. Empowered by this she puts an end to things ("hold the gun") and break her own heart instead of letting someone to continue to break hers.

By putting an end to a relationship that is hurting both people she is showing more love than than staying in it. "I love you more" in part means she loves him more that he loves her. "loving him like a winter bird" i think means that she stayed even after things got too "cold" and should have left for a warmer climate and built what she really wanted.

Of course, poetry can be interpreted several different way.

I think what'll clear things up is what Feist is saying in between the last three lines ("I'll end it though you started it/ The truth lies/ .../ The truth lied/ .../And lies divide/ .../Lies divide"). 'Look at me again, you... I'm now alone in the world... You do it again, you go to me again' is what I can hear, but gosh knows.

Another correction?: "Fly away/ Fly away to what you wanna make/ [Home]" (What with all the corrections there should be a resubmission, n'est-ce pas?)

This gal's gone through a lot in this relationship. Though the music hints at some class of strength gained anyway.
Especially liking "Loved him like a winter bird," though "Gulf Stream through the open door" is very ???

alovelyfadeout has got it for me.

I'm exactly like this because i am young and naive and stupid. I love the line "ill be the one who'll break my heart" Because it's describes me perfectly. I get myself into those feelings and i know whats coming for me but i do it anyways. Thank god for this song.

i am in a rough situation right now with a guy.

i feel that this song, at least to me, means
that someone is in love with someone and
they dont show a commitment and dont love
the other person back nearly as much.

"ill be the one who breaks my heart."- since he doesnt feel the same, she gets jealous, and by doing so she is pushing him away, therefore shes breaking her own heart.

"i know more than i knew before."- she knows the truth now, she thought he really loved her at first, but now she knows that he, in fact, doesnt.

"i love you more"- pretty self explanatory, she loves him more than he loves her.

"now i know i wanna win the war."- she wants to win against another girl he sees.

"stranded in the fog of woods. looking like a winter bird."- shes lost, she cant see the truth, and shes alone.

" on my head the water pours... fly away. fly away to what you want to make."- the water pours in relation to when water hits you, you are more alert. she is more alert to the truth, and what she needs to do. fly away to what she really wants and needs, and stop wasting her time on heartache.

"the truth lies."- anything he ever told her about his love and devotion for her was a lie. he said it was the truth, but "the truth lies"

i think that feist is saying how although many relationships in her past have not turned out well, she's not afraid to move on. especially because she has so much experience. and in the line "I'll be the one who'll break my heart" she's saying how it's not her lovers fault that she's heartbroken, but it's her own, and she needs to take responsibility fer it.

This a very rich song. The meanings are deep and can represent conflicting imagery and thoughts.

1. She repeated states she feels it all, but what is it she really feels. In one breath she feels love, then hate (gun, war). She feels free and wild, but then dejected and beatened down. She is in a fog but then things are clear as water having poured on her head.

2. Wings are wide, but her wild nature is still confined

3. Although she wants to believe that she is breaking her own heart, the tone is that he broke her heart

4. she talks about pressing against a door that is holding her back or in, but then she talks about the gulf stream through an open door

5. Winter bird is a symbol of a fleeing love, reiterated by repeating "fly away, fly away". However, the image of the gulf stream makes it seem like she is flying toward him (a strong force) instead of away. The imagine of a winter bird's migratory struggle a tremendous weather phenomon is brilliant!

6. She end it, while he started it

7. Truth lies

In all, she expresses in this song what she aimed to tell us... that is she feels it all. All of the conflicting emotions of ending a relationship that is obviously full of dichotomies. She loves him although she doesn't want to. She breaks up, but really doesn't want to. She does it b/c it is good for her. It is a war that she wants to win, but she seem to lose. The way she draws out "oh" as she sings shows the pain and the loss.

I agree somewhat with darf.

This song is about empowerment, about escape from a painful, fruitless love. She is reclaiming herself, her wings are spread wide and she is moving forward. He was the truth, and the truth lied! Now she'll break her own heart, goddammit, and you wont be responsible for any of it.

:) this is beautiful to me.
