Lyrics for What I've Done as interpreted by minuteman

What I've Done Lyrics
In this farewell
There's no blood, there's no alibi
'Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth of a thousand lies
So let mercy come and wash away

What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself and let go of what I've done

Put to rest what you thought
Of me while I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty
So let mercy come and wash away

What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself, and let go of what I've done

For what I've done, I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends, I'm forgiving

What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become, erase myself
And let go of what I've done

What I've done
Forgiving what I've done

I was in a really wonderful and loving 5/yr relationship. Except I let my selfishness get in between us. It wasn't after he left the relationship that I should have just returned his love and be selfless. I didn't deserve him. I hurt a 24ct pure and genuine guy. He had to leave for me to learn.

'Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth of a thousand lies
So let mercy come and wash away

Erase myselfF
Forgive myself
For what I've done.

Wow... Transformers AND Linkin Park... What a treat!!!

Best movie with the one of the best bands. Soooooooooooooooooooo awesome.

I love this song. I don't know the meaning. I don't care.

I find that knowing the meaning to the song sometimes ruins the whole thing for me, so meh... I have my own, lol

"...For what I've done, I start again, and whatever pain may come, today this ends, I'm forgiving..." Gooooooooood goooooooooood song.

Really awesome song. All about forgetting the past and moving on, esp. if the past is painful.

I have never been a fan of Linkin Park, but I think this is a great song.
They show a high level of depth and maturity in exploring guilt and redemption here.

First off, this song is amazing and so is the video. It is about correcting mistakes that people have done. And BTW is it just me or does the beginning of this song sound kinda like the movie Halloween?

it means that make sure the past stays past and get on with life, because, well, LIVE LIFE LIKE YOU WANT TO, because if past doesnt stay past then it will haunt you forever, so , get others to forgive you and, Forgive Yourself.

i always took it as asking from salvation from god

i recall however the band were saying something about it being on about their change of sound, and how they feel their old stuff is a mistake and theyre starting now

Fantastic song. I love how it's also in the end of Transformers...

My favourite on the CD. They've definitely matured more.

this song kinda has a spiritual theme if you really think about the lyrics
talking about forgiving and how God can erase what you have done by forgiveing you of your sins
love this song ♥ :]

This song is a disgrace and a rip off to any a perfect circle song there ever was. Even the video chester dresses exactly like Maynard with the mo and the aviator sun glasses...so sad. Even the video is almost exactly the same as The Video to "Dreamer"

Chest has never once used a mic stand...guess what he is now...leather pants...also a maynard trait.

Its a slap in the face to a truly great musican.

Hm. Personally, the change in style of Minutes to Midnight were a bit of a pleasant change. For sure both style and contents changed...in fact, come to think of it, the contents of their album sort of remind me of SoaD. But that's just me. Not to say I didn't love their previous albums (LP), but this was nice. Slightly more depressing in sound than angry, IMO, but I guess that's personal.

As for meaning, there's not much to say that hasn't already been said.

Any good LP fan will know that this song blows, just like every song on their new cd. Not only have they sold out, they sold just about everything out.

Makes me think of a relationship ending. "Put to rest what you thought of me... no matter what pain may come, today this ends and I'm forgiving what I've done."

He's done trying to win this person's affection, and whatever he failed to do he's forgiving himself for.
