Lyrics for What I've Done as interpreted by minuteman

What I've Done Lyrics
In this farewell
There's no blood, there's no alibi
'Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth of a thousand lies
So let mercy come and wash away

What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself and let go of what I've done

Put to rest what you thought
Of me while I clean this slate
With the hands of uncertainty
So let mercy come and wash away

What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself, and let go of what I've done

For what I've done, I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends, I'm forgiving

What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become, erase myself
And let go of what I've done

What I've done
Forgiving what I've done

First of all, I've been a huge fan of LP since the first single off of Hybrid Theory. I have had the overwhelming good fortune of seeing them live in concert about twenty feet from the stage. I may not have a lot of knowledge about the individual band members or their history. This is fully based on my own opinion.

I like this new sound. I haven't heard the rest of the album yet, maybe the whole album doesn't sound like this. That would make me sad. While I like LP's "old" sound, the screaming and the rapping is not necessarily something I enjoy all the time. I like the more rocking, heavy, less rap sound. I think it sounds good. Chester's showing off his more musical vocal range, and I totally applaud it.

I don't like the video, simply because the video pains me. It physically causes me pain. It makes me extremely unhappy to be considered a human being. I don't think it is strictly anti-American. I really think it was just showing the darkest sides of humanity. It shows the really horrible things we are doing to each other and the world around us, and for absolutely no good reason whatsoever.

I think it does relate extremely well to the song. Although the lyrics are talking about forgiveness, and letting go of what you've done, where the video mostly just shows what is being done, not necessarily the letting of it.

The song itself I think is very self-explanatory. I don't believe there is a human being on this earth who has not done something s/he regrets, and beats him/herself up about it. Holding on to that probably isn't very healthy and eventually you're just going to have to let it go. That's what this song is about... letting go and moving on.

And for the love of all things, it's not about God. Not EVERYTHING is about God. I understand that interpretation is in the eye of the beholder, but seriously. It's ridiculous.

In this farewell
There's no blood, there's no alibi

Okay, so this goodbye or farewell is peaceful. There is no suicide involved and no blood, The person is just starting off new.

I know what you mean Desaparecida, I like LP when they aren't screaming. It kind of gets to me.

this song is basically about self forgiveness and starting over as a new being. its also like a new beginning for LP. its really not what i expected from them after all this time.but its good. the song is great. chester has an AMAZING voice!!! but yeah i think this song shows a more serious side of them. but im still gonna miss the old LP. : (
i like the video because it opens your eyes to what is going on in the world. sadly some people dont know what is going on out there. and its good that LP and other bands are making people aware of these important issues.

This song is an attempt at apologizing for the sins of mankind, and the video is great proof of it. It is like mankind is crying out for the world to forgive them of what they've done to it. The whole song is simply a "Forgive me, I'm sorry" message to the world.

What I get out of this song while watching the music video is a reminder of what we've done as both as a society and as individuals. We let chaos and terror spread through Vietnam and later on the World Trade Center is shown falling and finally you see someone shooting up heroin. To me this song is just accepting what you've done and letting go to improve.

O, and Ken, BTW, minutes to midnight isn't about starting a new day, m2m refers to the death clock. Midnight represents Armageddon lol. JFYI

This song is beautiful... I wasn't as impressed with the new Linkin Park album but this song is very meaningful. I think theres a lot of symbolic stuff going on in the lyrics but if you watch the video it's even more intriging... The song opens with a scorpion crawling on the desert floor and if you notice later in the video you will see an eagle. I don't know if anyone here is a mythological buff but the scorpion symbolizes darkness and can be characterized as evil. The eagle represents the scorpions higher being; the reborn scorpion so to speak. Meaning the transformation of evil to good. I think this little tidbit adds to the song's true meaning and it isn't only about the world's chaos and evils although this is part of it. I think the song deals with one's personal growth as well as the growth/enlightenment of the world through evil and what consequences it has yielded. I thought that this song was very lyrically well down not to mention how it is presented in the music video. Linkin Park further proves to be the quite intellectual gig. Shows there are many underlying components in song and video. Watch for it:)

I very much like the new sound of Linkin Park. They finally sound like a full-fledged rock band. They showed their talent from the beginning with some good songs, though I never much liked rap metal.

These are just horrible, meaningless sixth form lyrics. I thought people stopped writing lyrics like these when they were 15?

this song is about admitting to your mistakes and moving on with life.

(what ive done, ill face my self,to cross out what i've become) it means that he's admitted that hes done something wrong and h'ell face himself to stop what he is doing.

if you dont believe me then watch the making of the video on youtube.com. chester bennington said it.

I just finished listening to Minutes to Midnight. I didn't like it as much as I liked Meteora... I would have to say that this is one of the best songs off of the album. They could have had at least one song that sounded more like their older stuff on it...
They can have some of the slower songs, but I would have liked some faster ones...

It's like what Danny Archer says in Blood Diamond. Will god ever forgive us for what we have done to each other?

This song is about his relationship with Jesus Christ.

The clear reference to "There's no blood" is a definit clue to the fact that Jesus shed his blood for all of us and that we don't need to shed blood anymore.

"So let mercy come" mercey only comes from Jesus, and only he can wash away "What I've done".

"I'll face myself" we all will face what we have done before Him one day. "To cross out what I've become, Erase myself, And let got of what I've done" A clear coorilation to the Cross, where Jesus through his sacrafice for us all and only He can "Cross out what I've become", only if I can "let go of what I've done".

"Put to rest, What you thought of me, While I clean this slate, With the hands of uncertainty" Once you believe in Jesus, everyone gets a "clean slate". As a christian we are all have "uncertainty" as to wheather or not we can walk-the-walk with Jesus.

"For what I've done, I start again, And whatever pain may come, Today this ends, I'm forgiving what I've done!!!" No matter how many time we "start again", nor how much "pain" we cause ourselves, only with Christ first in our lives can we make it end. Even the discipole Paul said "I die daily", but forgivness comes only when we ask for it from Christ and only then we can forgive our selves.

Don't mean to be preaching here, but this song really hit me with this message. Let me know what you think.

Thanks
