Lyrics for Shut Up and Play (a.k.a Disenchanted) as interpreted by 4evrandaday

Shut Up and Play (a.k.a Disenchanted) Lyrics
Another sad song, with nothing to say
About a life-long wait for a hospital stay
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you
I waited so long for someone to say
If you can move on
I'll never get you to stay
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you
Another sad song, with nothing to say
About a life-long, wait for a hospital stay
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you

And if you hold on
And need me to stay
You get the hard thoughts
Oh baby just the mistakes
Maybe we'll just
Shut up and play
It never did mean nothing to you
Never did mean ...

Another sad song, with nothing to say
About a life-long, wait for a hospital stay
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you

If you would hold on
And need me to stay
You get the hard thoughts
Oh baby just the mistakes
We never really got too much anyways
Yeah, yeah, yeah, just go

Just go, run away
Where did you run
Don't fight it just run away
Let it go...
And when you go, run don't walk
And when you sing, scream don't talk

Another sad song, with nothing to say
About a life-long
Wait for a hospital stay
We never really got too much anyways

Another sad song with nothing to say
About a life-long, wait for a hospital stay
Maybe we'll just shut up and play.
You never really got it
No you never really got it...

this is disenchanted:

Well I was there on the day
They sold the cause for the queen,
And when the lights all went out
We watched our lives on the screen.
I hate the ending myself,
But it started with an alright scene.

It was the roar of the crowd
That gave me heartache to sing.
It was a lie when they smiled
And said, "you won't feel a thing"
And as we ran from the cops
We laughed so hard it would sting

Yeah yeah, oh oh oh oh

If I'm so wrong (so wrong, so wrong)
How can you listen all night long? (night long, night long)
Now will it matter after I'm gone?
Because you never learned a god damned thing.

You're just a sad song with nothing to say
About a life long wait for a hospital stay
Well if you think that I'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to you

I spent my high school career
Spit on and shoved to agree
So I can watch all my heroes
Sell a car on tv
Bring out the old guillotine
[ Lyrics found on http://www.metrolyrics.com ]

We'll show 'em what we all mean.

Yeah yeah, oh

If I'm so wrong (so wrong, so wrong)
How can you listen all night long? (night long, night long)
Now will it matter long after I'm gone?
Because you never learned a god damned thing.

You're just a sad song with nothing to say
About a life long wait for a hospital stay
And if you think that I'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to you

So go away, just go, run away.
But where did you run to? And where did you hide?
Go find another way, price you pay

where oh ,where oh ,where oh,
where oh ,where oh ,where oh
It's just a sad song with nothing to say
About a life long wait for a hospital stay
And if you think that I'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to you, come on

You're just a sad song with nothing to say
About a life long wait for a hospital stay
Well if you think that I'm wrong,
This never meant nothing to you

At all, at all, at all , at all...

This is the first version of Disenchanted. When it came time to record it they had changed parts to the song and Disenchanted is what came out of it.

-sigh- I miss this version. ;_; I haven't listened to it in a while. I like this version much better than the Disenchanted on the album ... because of THAT LINE. Heh. "And when you go, run don't walk// And when you sing, scream don't talk."

I quite like this version, but I think I prefer the one they recorded. To me this song is about the scene and how all the songs are just sad songs that don't mean anything anymore since sadness is what sells records nowadays. I don't know though, that's just how I interpret it.

Personally, where it says "we never got too much anyway" I ehar "We never liked you much anyway" and for "you get the hard thoughts" I hear "you get the hard parts".
But I only have on speaker and the recording isn't amazing, so I might be wrong.

This song is about Bert McCracken from The Used, him and Gerard Way were friends, Bert started doing drugs again and basically told Gerard to fuck off because Gerard was always on him to get off the drugs (this was after Gerard got clean as well) and so he wrote this song:
Another sad song, with nothing to say
About a life-long wait for a hospital stay (Basically saying that Bert is just going to end up another song about someone who overdosed)
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you (If he believes that Gerard is wrong about him doing drugs then the friendship wasn't anything to begin with)
I waited so long for someone to say
If you can move on
I'll never get you to stay (he's waiting for someone to tell him to move on and leave Bert alone)
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you
Another sad song, with nothing to say
About a life-long, wait for a hospital stay
If you believe that I'm wrong
This never meant nothing to you

And if you hold on
And need me to stay
You get the hard thoughts
Oh baby just the mistakes (Gerard's saying that even if they do become friends again then this is all he'll be able to think about, the fact that Bert turned him away when he was trying to help him)
Maybe we'll just
Shut up and play (Stop fighting and both just get on with their music so they don't become another one of thsoe music wars or whatever)
It never did mean nothing to you
Never did mean ...(saying that their friendship never meant nothing to Bert)
We never really liked you much anyway (to me this sounds just like what someone would say after breaking up with a friend to kind of you know ease their pain or to hide it)
That's basically what it's about, I'm not a fan of MCR anymore but I was when the whole Gerard/Bert shit went down and this song started leakign abouton the net (around 2 yrs ago)

It's a shame about Gerard and Bert, there verison of Under Pressure rocks and The Used and My Chemical Romance are two of my favourite bands.

I love the album version, it's almost perfect, but this version has a special place in my heart. I'm glad they used the "we never really liked you much anyway" in "Dead!" (although worded a bit different) since I love that line, but I WISH they had used "And when you go, run don't walk, and when you sing, scream don't talk" in the album version or another song. It's just too good to remain on a bootleg live song only.

Just for all those people who said these aren't the correct lyrics, this is a demo of Disenchanted. It was originally gonna be called "Shut Up And Play". The lyrics weren't entirely done when they recorded the demo.

when i saw them play a year ago, disenchanted was introduced as "this is a song that used to be called 'shut up and play.'"

I personally like this one better, but disenchanted fits into TBP better.

I've always wanted to hear this, and I just did! I wish it would've been used. But I love "Disenchanted" almost as much. But not as quite now that I know what the first version sounds like...

Yay~ I still love this band! :D

If the recording was better I might like this version more, but I definitely prefer Disenchanted, it just feels so much more sombre and macabre.
