Nad vechernim Dunaem raznositsya
Belyi tsvet, belyi tsvet, belyi tsvet
I na pamyat melodiya prositsya
Proshyh let, proshyh let, proshyh let...
No rasstayali ptichimi stayami
Nashei pesni prostyye slova
Ty uhodish v ogon Yugoslavia!
Bez menya! Bez menya! Bez menya!

Za noch pod svintsovym gradom,
Za to chto menya net ryadom,
Ty prosti sestra moya - Yugoslavia!
Za smert pod dojdem vesennim,
Za to chto ne stal spaseniyem!
Ty prosti sestra moya - Yugoslavia!

Chernoglazoi devchonkoi rasteryannoi,
Ty stoish na drugom beregu.
No dobratsya do etogo berega
Ne mogu, ne mogu, ne mogu.
Nad vechernim Dunaem raznositsya
Belyi tsvet, belyi tsvet, belyi tsvet
I na pamyat melodiya prositsya
Proshyh let, proshyh let, proshyh let...

Za noch pod svintsovym gradom,
Za to chto menya net ryadom,
Ty prosti sestra moya - Yugoslavia!
Za smert pod dojdem vesennim,
Za to chto ne stal spaseniyem!
Ty prosti sestra moya - Yugoslavia!

Above evening Danube it is carried White color, white color, white color. And for memory the melody asks, The last years, the Last years, the Last years... But bird's flights, Our song simple words. You leave in fire Yugoslavia! Without me! Without me! Without me!

For a night under a lead hailstones, For that that I was not present beside, You forgive my sister - Yugoslavia! For death under a rain spring, For that that did not become rescue! You forgive my sister - Yugoslavia!

The black-eyed little girl lost, You cost on other I protect. But to reach this coast I can not, I can not, I can not. Above evening Danube it is carried White color, white color, white color. And for memory the melody asks, The last years, the Last years, the Last years...

For a night under a lead hailstones, For that that I was not present beside, You forgive my sister - Yugoslavia! For death under a rain spring, For that that did not become rescue! You forgive my sister - Yugoslavia!

In the evening, the Danube flows White, white, white And my memory recalls a melody that pleads From the past, from the past, from the past But the flocks of birds bid farewell Our songs are mere words You jump into the fire, Yugoslavia! Without me! Without me! Without me!

Over the night beneath a hail of lead Over the fact that I'm not nearby Forgive me, my sister - Yugoslavia! Over the death beneath spring rain Over the fact that I never became a saviour! Forgive me, my sister - Yugoslavia!

As with a confused black-eyed girl You stand on another shore But to reach this shore I'm unable, I'm unable, I'm unable In the evening, the Danube flows White light, white light, white light And my memory recalls a melody that pleads From the past, from the past, from the past

I think this version is the most accurate:

A white flower floats on the evening Danube And the melody of the passed years requires the memory But simple lyrics of our song faded away as flocks of birds You leave in the fire, Yugoslavia! Without me! Without me! Without me!

For the night in the rain of leads For that I'm not by you You, forgive me, my sister, Yugoslavia! For the death in the spring rain For that I wasn't helpful to you You, forgive me, my sister, Yugoslavia!

You stand on the other shore as an black-eyed girl at a loss But I never can get to that shore A white flower floats on the evening Danube And the melody of the passed years requires the memory

For the night in the rain of leads For that I'm not by you You, forgive me, my sister, Yugoslavia! For the death in the spring rain For that I wasn't helpful to you You, forgive me, my sister, Yugoslavia!

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
