My moon, my man.
So changeable and
Such a lovable lamb to me.

My care, my coat.
Leave on a high note.
There's nowhere to go but up.

Heart on my sleeve
Not where it should be.
The song's out of key again.

My moon's white face
What day and what phase?
It's the calendar page again.

Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please

My moon and me
Not as good as we've been
It's the dirtiest clean I know

My care, my coat
Leave on a high note
There's nowhere to go
There's nowhere to go

Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please
Take it slow
Take it easy on me
Shed some light
Shed some light me please

My moon
The moon my man
My moon
The moon my man

The second and third line insinuates a man that's loveable to her, but may not be to everyone, so he's changeable according to who he's with. Lambs are kind and gentle. Because he's changeable, he could be the complete opposite: mean and rough. Again, according to who he's with. To her, he's every bit a lamb. He's not abusive to her. Lambs are baby sheep. Sheep make wool. There's your coat. The moon is her care, her coat. He's the one leaving on a high note, and he only has one place to go - on. A reference to his light. A light has nowhere to go but on. Same with up. The moon hangs "up" in the sky. Heart on my sleeve means to show your emotions, to make them visible. That's why the song's out of key again. That's "heart on my sleeve" in the song itself. People are likely to sing/play out of key when they get emotional. There's a lunar calendar like any other calendar, and there are 8 lunar phases. "Take it slow, take it easy on me." She doesn't want him to be in a rush to leave. It's hard to be separated from someone you love. She wants the moon to shed some light on her because he's her man and she wants to feel his warmth. He's her care, her coat. The moon itself is the dirtiest clean. Its surface is covered with huge dark spots. Something is staining the relationship, but it's not necessarily a relationship-ender. The moon is still her man.
