Lyrics for Clairaudients (Kill or Be Killed) as interpreted by benjam326

Clairaudients (Kill or Be Killed) Lyrics
Corporate or colonial
The movement is unstoppable
Like the body of a centerfold it spreads
To the counter-culture copyright
Get your revolution at a lower price
Or make believe and throw the fight, play dead
It's exploding bags, aerosol cans
Southbound buses, Peter Pan
They left it up to us again
I thought you knew the drill
It's kill or be killed

Future markets, holy wars
Been tried ten thousand times before
If you think that God is keeping score, hooray!
For the freedom-fighting simulcast (Victory! A defeat! Victory!)
The imminent and the aftermath
Draw another bloody bath to drain
Like the polar icecaps centrifuge (Oh Allah! Oh Jesus please!)
First snowman built at the end of June
He slicks his hair for the interview, his fifteen-minute fame
Would you agree times have changed?

I really like the word "centrifuge."

And this is a pretty decent song. But mostly I just like "centrifuge."

Ahh I love this song, I've been humming it at school all day. But it is "Corporate Whore, Colonial", not "

Sorry triple, but it's definitely "Corporate or Colonial." I have the lyrics booklet to Cassadaga, pre-ordered the LP and it came early :). I tried to copy the lyrics exactly as they appear there, down to punctuation (or lack thereof), capitalization, stanza breaks, etc.

I read one time that he liked to use a non-traditional track with a lot of sampling, distortion, or otherwise disconcerting notions to "ward off casual listerners."

Anyone know all of what's going on in the song besides the song? The phone conversations, that is. Any info?

That intro reminds me a lot of 'A Day in the Life'. Amazing stuff. This album is beautifully produced.

Not wanting to be cheeky, but googling for 'clairaudient' will help you understand what the spoken word parts might be about:

http://www.answers.com/clairaudient&r=67

I'm not really sure what the song itself means, but it reminds me of 'Arc of Time' on Digital Ash, a sort of swirling, epic intro to the album that gives you a taste of the lyrical and music style that's to come.

'Kill or be Killed' might be a reference to his other song 'To Love or Be Loved', though what that reference might be is beyond me! Anyone?

Lots religious and war references in here too, a bit like Bob Dylan's song 'The Times They Are a Changin'', and this song also has the lines "Would you agree times have changed?". Just a few thoughts...

Great song though!

[Cassadaga, oh yeah, that's where you're going to find the center of energy.
And they've got those in Arizona too.
You know, theres, I know that there's wonderful grounds that have vortexes.
That you might be interested in going to.
And the go to Nevada. And then go to California.
And then come south and go back through Arizona.
And go through Texas. You know what I'm saying?
Getting rid of the old feelings of the old ways.
And, you know, it's kind of like with people and the tarot cards.
Just because you get the Death card doesn't mean death or dying.
It means transoformation. It means changing things around...
Cause I was pulling in on a, on a dog or companion
Somehow I get the impression that your'e almost a little afraid to start the trip.
It doesn't have to be a straigh line happy face.
But make kind of a happy face, I mean kind of a smile.
Go up, up the east coast, but it's gonna be a circle.
You know what I'm saying? It's gonna be a sloppy circle.
Dont' be afraid. Years and years and years ago, you know, you might,
You might have come across some river and rock and the mountains or whatever.
And then when you get there maybe you'll have the answers you seek.

We have moved into a new era and life as we know it is changing.
Your relationships, career, and location will all be subject with an energy.
Allow me to share with you tips that will assist you during these new times.

Don't give up hope on yourself, no.
Just be paitent about the fact that .... how things are unfolding.
Because ..... you're less ... why are you afraid to start?
I think you should go.
I think you should go.
You know, plan ahead, pack the things that you think you're gonna need,
And then just go.
Cassadaga might be just a premonition of a place you're going to visit.]

um so yea i was thinking about it a minute ago and if Conor is actually refering to a real place when he says Cassadaga, i think it's about 40 minutes from my house. Cassadaga, NY is a small county (i think it's a county) in a kind of rural area. The biggest town in Cassadaga is Lilydale, a place known for psychics and seers. A psychic lives in almost lmost every house in Lilydale and you can sign up for appointments to see them. Some of them are so popular that it's basically impossible to get an appointment. so yea i dunno. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

It's referring to Cassadaga, Florida, which is one of the most popular spiritualist retreats.

I just wanna say there's a picture of Conor next to a sign that sais " welcome to cassadaga spiritual camp" in the saddlecreek site. I think that it's most likely to be the place he is referring to, I don't know where it is though.

i was listening to an interview or reading a magazine. i cant remember which, and it was saying that conor and mike called up a bunch of random psychic hotlines and recorded the people talking. they asked questions about cassadaga or somethign to get the answers they wanted. it ended up calling a couple hundred dollars. it was an intersting article. either way, i love this song. his vioice is so different soft in this song. i especially love the part where he says hooray. its so plain and soft and pefect. i cant wait to see him next week.

along with what GetDead said i totally thought of "to loved or be loved" when i heard this song.
but i don't know what the connection could be.
this song seems to be more about society in general and how things nowadays are "kill or be killed" like with big corporations and such.
idkkkk.

The talking in this song reminds me of Cold Sassy Tree. Especially the part where he sings "Would you agree times have changed?"

I don't think thats what the songs about, but there are definately common themes.
