This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
You were the only face I'd ever known.
I was the light from the lamp on the floor,
And only as bright as you wanted me to be.
But, I am no gentleman, I can be a prick,
And I do regret more than I admit.
You have been followed back to the same place I sat with you drink for drink.
Take the pain out of love and then love won't exist.
Everything we had, everything we had,
Everything we had, everything we had is no longer there.
It was the only place I'd never known.
Turned off the light on my way out the door.
I will be watching wherever you go,
Through the eyes of a fly on the wall.
You have been followed back to the same place I sat with you drink for drink.
Take the pain out of love and then love won't exist.
Everything we had, everything we had,
Everything we had, everything we had is no longer there, longer there.
You saw for yourself, the way it played out.
For you, I am blinded.
For you, I am blinded, for you.
I am no gentleman, I can be a prick.
And I do regret more than I admit.
You have been followed back to the same place I sat with you drink for drink.
Take the pain out of love and then love won't exists.
Everything we had, everything we had,
Everything we had, everything we had.
Everything we had, everything we had,
Everything we had
I'll be with you wherever you go,
Through the eyes of a fly on the wall.
I was the light from the lamp on the floor,
And only as bright as you wanted me to be.
But, I am no gentleman, I can be a prick,
And I do regret more than I admit.
You have been followed back to the same place I sat with you drink for drink.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
I can't believe no one has commented on this song. I think it's the best on Santi, lyrics wise.
It's basically about admitting your mistakes and flaws, but realizing you had something really good and would do anything to have it back.
I agree, I really like this song, especially the bit where he sings "I am no gentleman, I can be a prick, and I do regret more than I admit."
I think the song's about a guy, who did something foolish and hence finds himself alone. Only, because he only cared deeply for one girl he finds himself following her - either because he wants her back, or because he just wants to make sure she is always safe and happy.
See everyone is thinking only about the lyrics, and in the lyrics perhaps we can see this as missing her but if you watch the video i think he loves this girl, and he did something wrong, hence her frustration and he goes on downward spiral and destroys the cake and eventually throws himself in the pool and drowns, i see it as his suicide in reverse and i think it is really artistic.
Yeah, basically what you guys have said.
He's missing "everything he had" with a girl and just wants it back.
plain and simple song. in terms of lyrics. i love it, its so beautiful. i think i love every song on this album, except neighbors to be honest.
I was at the cd release show last night in Chicago... This song was dedicated to one of thier close friends that had passed away. I think that it makes more sense on losing a friend than it has to with a relationship.
I knew it!
it does actually make more sense for the loss of a friend. but the part, "I am no gentleman I can be a prick" makes me think of like relationships.
thats awesome that its dedicated to a close friend... this song is amazing! it sounds so beautiful. i love his voice in the end
God this song is incredible. It might just be the best song he's ever written.
And the acoustic version is even better.
Magic.
This song is so beautiful... the first time i heard it, i just wanted to start crying. I love it. But the first 15 seconds or so of it reminds me of Yellowcard - How I Go =/
I definitely agree that, lyrically, this is the best song on Santi, and in my opinion, the best song on the album in every regard.
But I also think the song works just as well in memory of a friend as it does for relationships. I can relate to it in terms of a relationship, which is one of the reasons I love this song so much. It genuinely touches on the remorse you feel when something you've done ends a serious romance with someone you honestly love.
