Five words, five words is all it would take.
Five words to change your heart and mind.
In the heat of the sun I know you’re the only one.
You still can’t hold yourself together.

Alone... Alone...
You have this conversation to satisfy your most intimate inner thoughts.
Then you bite your lip when it matters most.
A shade of red in sight.
Can you taste the blood?
Taste it on your lips.

Rip the seam then I’ll show you,
How the strings become the stitches in your mouth.
In your silence we are louder.
When the strings become the stitches in your mouth.

Your growing imagination preparing you for what your heart requires to say.

Five words, repeating over in your head.
That’s all you ever have to do.
Five words. Is it really that hard to say?
You’re worth more than this
You’re worth more than this.

Rip the seam then I’ll show you,
How the strings become the stitches in your mouth.
In your silence we are louder.
When the strings become the stitches in your mouth.

General Comment:Love this song. So emo-ish: "Then you bite your lip/when it matters most/you see the red in sight/can you taste the blood?/taste it on your lips..." love those lyrics

Ok, I need some band info here. I've heard that Stephen Keech (the one who screams) also sings clean vocals. What parts does he sing in this album. Does he sing in this song? Also, which guy sings the verse in this song? Is it Brennon Chaulk the guitarist, or Micheal Murphy the bassist. Just wondering is all ;) If any one knows please tell me.

Song Meaning:For those who haven't seen it, here's a summary of the video:

There are two story threads. In the first one, a father sits down to dinner with his family and starts to drink, gradually degenerating to the point where he grabs at one of his children when the boy accidentally spills his drink. In the second, a younger guy is hanging out in a seedy-looking place with unsavory-looking characters. In both threads, there is a person in the room--the alcoholic's older son and the younger guy's friend, respectively--who is just sitting there and staring at the offender, there mouths literally stitched shut. At the climax, they both rip the stitches out, walk over to the offender, and say to them the five words: "You're worth more than this." The son hugs his father and the man comforts his friend while he cries.

This pretty much fits in with everyone else's interpretation, but I think the song itself is giving the message in G-d's voice; "rip the seams that I've sewn you" might mean "I made it preferable for you to not say anything here, but you can prove yourself by overcoming it."

General Comment:i believe that it has to do with a verse in the bible.
1 Corinthians 14v19 "But in the church meetings i would rather speak five words I understand in order to teach others than thousands of words in a different language"

I guess what they are saying, well what I take from it is, as Christians they/we believe "You're worth more than this" and it is so much better to just say that than tell people why what they are doing is wrong or not good or bad or sinful or whatever you wanna call it because you can blabber on and on about what is right and what people should be doing, but they won't listen/understand, but it is so much easier to say five simple words that everyone understands "you're worth more than this".

Song Meaning:This song, I think, is about watching a loved one fall into drugs or alcohol whether it be to cope with pain or depression, or just for fun, and finding the strength to stand up and tell them "you're better than this."
I see it as, it's the person's fault for making their habits, but you can be the one person to make them realize what they're doing. It's a great song.

General Comment:I think its more about what the person watching it needs to help them say. He is trying to convince the person to stand up for themselves and stop destroying their lives. And on the topic of cussing, does it really effect the music? If atheists played a christian song is that song now atheist? If a non-believer stands up for christianity is he christian? Our actions don't define who we are. Everybody has problems in their life. I'm sure everybody here has thought about a guy/girl in bad ways. We need to start building people up, not breaking them down.

General Comment:Haste the Day isn't a Christian band. Several of the band members went to my school and I have one of their old teachers who knows them very well. And while they might be/have been Christian, the band is not. But nice try. The lyrics are "You're worth more than this," and the song is about people in general who underestimate their worth with poor choices and the people who just sit back and watch them ruin their lives.
