Stranger's glances = paranoia from doing whatever made him trip so hard.

- he's getting "stoned" from holding in the substance that's causing his trip
Delusions/whispering - obviously, he's tripping.
And the bird is reality. He's addicted to tripping even though this particular experience may have been bad for him, he still crawls away from reality.
"if he can't relieve it, it grows"
- his addiction grows if he doesn't keep using

So an urge to be himself but he know that other people don't like it so he holds it in and hes breaking down inside.
I know this is kinda vague but......I know someone who went through this. But it makes sense. Emos and Goths aren't really approved of where i come from. But i love them. Best people ever.
i would give the opinion that this song is about hiding inner emotions and impulses from the social world. people watch and judge and you must act according to norms. thus your exterior turns to stone and you hide from your own darker/different impulses. Your impulses need some sort of release, so you do what you need to when your alone, be it write a poem or beat up a punching bag.
The first stanza is interesting... it seems to imply that the main character "wears his heart on his sleeve" (the cliche), which means that he has to hide from those who judge him rather than allow his exterior to remain a disguise. maybe that's why the video shows a character retreating to solitude to battle his daemons.
