Lyrics for Cemetery Drive as interpreted by Nannerz

Cemetery Drive Lyrics
This night, walk the dead
In a solitary style
And crash the cemetery gates.
In the dress your husband hates.
Way down, mark the grave
Where the search lights find us
Drinking by the mausoleum door
And they found you on the bathroom floor.

I miss you, I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.

Back home, off the run.
Singing songs that make you slit your wrists.
It isn't that much fun,
Staring down a loaded gun.
So I won't stop dying, won't stop lying.
If you want I'll keep on crying.
Did you get what you deserve?
Is this what you always want me for?

I miss you, I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.

Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down.

I miss you, I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.

When will I miss you, when will I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.
Made it so hard

Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down.

Wow, this is just insanely pathetic. I cannot believe that people actually sit at their computers all day and write fucking messed up sterotypes about an amazing band that is at least trying to save peoples' lives through their lyrics and their music. I'm not saying that My Chem is the best band in the world and that they don't have a few issues here and there but come on, can't people be more respectful than that? These guys are actually trying to do something good yet they're constantly degraded with shit like "emo" and "goth" sterotypes which (ha, ha) aren't even true! I, personally, do not believe in labeling people based on how they look, dress, and what they listen to and I was really hoping that people could just get over themselves and stop with the stupid sterotypes but I guess that it's just wishful thinking afterall. And honestly, haven't some of you people ever heard of the golden rule? How would you feel if people went and started degrading your favourite bands with messed up shit? Treat others the way you want to be treated so please treat this band with respect. If you don't have anything good to say about them, keep your fucking mouth shut.

Anyway, getting to the actual point of the song, I personally think that this song is about a woman who is in love with two men but she is married to one of the men. I think that the the narrator of the song is the man she was truly in love with yet her husband killed her because of this and that her true love was depressed over her death and resorted to trying to commit suicide (i.e. "They found you on the bathroom floor", "I miss you, I miss you so far", "Singing songs that make you slit your wrists/It isn't that much fun, staring down a loaded gun", "Did you get what you deserve? Is this what you always want me for?"). I've also heard theroies going around though that Gerard Way wrote this song for a friend of his that commited suicide right before the writing of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge began- which would also make sense. I also think that this song fits in with the record in the way that I feel most of the songs on the album are written like stories of different people with different lives who have all lost their loves and the main character of the story (the serial killer) most collect their souls in order to retrieve his lost love (maybe the character Helena based after Elena [Mikey and Gerard's grandmother] is his love).

I honestly have no idea what this song means but it is one of my fave MCR songs. I saw them live twice and they were amazing :-)

There's a little voice in the back of my head telling me not to do this; however, I'm going to do it anyway.

I spent about an hour last night reading through the lyrics to the songs preceding this song on Three Cheers. Then I got sidetracked for an hour reading the comments on this one song. Then my computer lost connection for reasons unknown to me.

Quite frankly, I enjoy a good debate. Unfortunately, I'm yet to see anyone make a good point. This has been going for over two years and NO ONE has make a decent point.

First, let me state that I listen to MCR because they are the closest I can come to what I consider 'screamo' without being what I consider 'screamo'. Screamo scares me, but MCR has really intense (I can't think of the term I really want to use there) songs that don't include yelling half the lyrics at me. I appreciate that.

To this day, I do not understand people who believe MCR has saved their life. I have never listened to them because of their lyrics (except for 'Teenagers'). Gerard has a sick, twisted mind and if that's what you relate to, you need help. I'm sorry, but you do. As far as I'm concerned, Gerard probably needs help.

I don't understand the whole 'emo' debate because I've always thought the term 'emo' was short for 'emotional'. If so, these songs are 'emo'. On that same note, most music would be 'emo'. Rap is the only exception I can think of.

The people on here insulting people for listening to MCR really need to get a hobby. Personally, I listen to everything from MCR to Flo Rida to Daphne Loves Derby to 3OH!3 to The Format to The Hush Sound to The Films to Taylor Swift. I tend to prefer Alternative music, but I will listen to just about anything. I've found that people who are closed minded about music don't generally know a lot about music and tend to go with the flow of pop culture. This is tragic cause you never think about the music you listen to, but I suppose that's your loss.

Finally, I'm loving the people that get mad at everyone for being off topic and then give you their opinion. Hypocrites. But I digress.

***Skip to here if you are tired of the debate that's lasted the past seven pages.**

Originally, I started reading lyrics on here to see if I could put together the concept behind this album. I know it's supposed to be about a man, a woman, and 1000 souls. Most of the songs seem to be about a man and a woman in some sort of a relationship, but I thought the album was also about him having to bring 1000 souls to the devil. Clearly some people die, but at the risk of sounding twisted, where's the mass murder? I know 'I Never Told You' is supposed to be about a serial killer, but that's the only one that I can tell fits into the 'concept'. It seems like this guy has died in almost every song so I'm thinking he failed his mission early in the album.

I just confused myself typing that paragraph. What I was trying to say is, can someone please explain how the concept works into each song cause I'm not seeing it?

This song has two meanings.

The first meaning: A woman who is cheating on her husband can't take the guilt of it anymore, so she kills herself.

The second meaning: Gerard wrote this song about a friend he had in college who shot herself before MCR went on their very first tour.

Yeah, I agree with unsweetsugar and musiikholiik.

NOW, A COMMENT FROM... THE MASTER!
This song is awesome.
THE MASTER HAS SPOKEN!

Am I the only one who plays, "When will I miss you, when will I miss you so far. And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard. Made it so hard," over and over and over and over and over again?
I mean, Gerard's voice just sounds sooooo good when he sings SOOO FFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR. But he sounds a bit like a girl... I mean, I can't imagine a guy singing that part... Or can I??? Let me try... Okay, I can. OHMAGOSH! I just imagined Gerard, kneeling in a cemetery, in front of a grave, singing, "SOOOOOOOO FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR." IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! It brought TEARS to my eyes!

Not bitchaboutwhatiwant.com...
[yournamehere] and other haters.. Look... if you don't like the song, then wtf are you doing here?
you should be looking up the lyrics of the songs you like. Stop wasting your time, and our time.
Also, i'm pretty sure you're gonna call me an emo and stuff now. But i'm not.. and alot of other people here aren't. Granted there probably are some emo's and posers. I personally don't like emo's. But i'm not gonna waste my time baggin out other people's personal choices. Cuz its their life. And i have my own life. N it's time for u guys to get a life also. :)
Peace out

''Singing songs that make you slit your wrists.''

note, one of the only times mcr mentions the slitting of wrists.
I think this is a pretty decent song but then again I think a lot of there second album was decent.
Personally though,Mcr's first album was just amazing.
the black parade was a very very big dissapointment.

in my opinion, this is a sensually charged, sentimental song about an old fling of gerard's, and is blatantly sexual in content, when he sings way down, he's imitating her telling him to go down on her. i see an image in my head of a girl lying on her back and he's kissing her neck and starting to go south, and she keeps saying "way down," "and the collision of your kiss that made it so hard". duh.

So I only got here because I clicked on the most recent comment posted on this site. I find it really sad that people are flaming people that like the song or band. Get over yourselves, your opinion is no more valid than that of the people that like this song or band. We all have preferences in music. This type of music isn't my style, but I'm not going to insult people that do like it, because my opinion is no more valid than theirs is. I can guarantee that for every person that hates this genre of music, there's someone else that hates their favourite genre with just as much fervor.

If you think you have the right to criticize someone's taste, you need a few more years of life under your belt to teach you some humility.

I wish I could delete my old posts, when I read them these days they don't even seem like me.
It's kind of nice being able to see how my perception of music has evolved though.

The people who comment this sight complaining about 'shit' or 'emo' music or whatever are just looking for someone to feel superior too, hell I know I have in the past (although I still retain that some of it's justified >.>).
Music defines teenagers peer circles wayyy too much imo, I mean it's cool having friends that listen to the same kind of music as you, but that shouldn't be one of the first things that define whether someone's your friend or not.

I'm not trying to be wise or anything (well kind of), it's just I look back into my high school years and kind of wish I could have done it a little differently, been a bit less discriminatory to certain groups of music, and probably have made more friends in the process.
In saying that I swear my friends are the fucking coolest people on the planet (as everyone does, except mine actually are) and I wouldn't give them up for another thousand million friends, I don't know really where I'm going with this it's just a train of thought really.
Just that there's no point in discriminating as in the end, karma is really gonna bite your ass.

I've already left a meaning for this song a page or 2 back so I'm allowed to rant with everyone else >.>.

Oh, and seriously, listen to some Meatloaf. He is the king of beautiful music (maybe not the best music, but definitely beautiful music).

Okay. I hate to do this, I really do. Call me hypocritical, it's probably true. (That rhymed haha.) People are people. Labels do not exist in reality. I mean, sure, it's real that people call other people names, but those names don't mean shit when it comes to the person themself. And I'm sure some people who are true to themselves, dress how they do because they want to not because it's cool, and listen to the music they do because the music's awesome not because they want to be in some category (or out of one), would not like to be put in the same category as the so-called "posers". I, for one, don't think posers exist. I've tried to make this point before but it never works. Because for me, music and love are the most powerful things in my life, and to waste time with thinking about what category I want myself to be in is foolish. I'm not trying to attack anyone... I respect all of you and don't have anything against people who do call themselves "emo" or "goth" or something else. Honestly, personality is the only thing that matters. If you label yourself, okay. Go ahead. It won't ever change my opinion on you. I have friends who label themselves, but it doesn't make them any less of my friend. I also have friends who are very stereotypical against these labels, but I don't have anything against them either. I don't agree with labels existing, so I don't think I have the right to argue with anyone who participates in them.

So. WHERE IS THE LOVE???

It's right here! I just recently got this album (I've been wanting to for a long time), and I love it to death. I'm so in love with MCR and their underlying stories that fit with the albums (ie. "1000 evil men", "the Patient"). It gives every song so much more to it. Alot of you have enlightened me with your song meaning ideas, so thank you. I agree with some of you who have talked about the affair and her eventual suicide because of it. It at least sounds good to me.

And Leebeloo - I love your vampire definition. :]

I love the first verse, especially the line: "And they found you on the bathroom floor". I'm not sure if its about a traumatic break-up or a literal death of a friend. It sounds more like the "death" of a relationship than a physical death. That's my opinion anyway. ^^

i just read the first comments this got and it all really amuses me. i mean, COME ON!
what's honestly wrong with people who just come here to bash on other people's taste in music and other interests? it's so pathetic!

ever heard the expression "live and let live"?!

you can't seriously except everyone to like the same stuff, cause it's never going to happen, period. and i'm glad it won't, because that would make the world a very sad place. no wonder we are all so fucked up when everyone's so narrow-minded... shouldn't we just take care of own business, really?
why does it really bother someone so much that a band wants to sing about grim topics instead of puppies and flowers and shit? if that's what makes them tick and what they're interested in, then who are you to tell them they can't be themselves just because YOU don't happen to like the same stuff as they do?

and as far as emo goes... i'm not emo and i really don't know that much about the whole concept of it, so i'm not going to pretend i do.

there's just one thing i'd like to remind you of, and i think it's a thing people often don't understand: Depression is an actual illness (it does stuff to your brain), just like for example cancer (and please don't have a cow about this and say that i'm comparing depression and cancer because i know they are not the same!).
the point is, you just can't say stuff like "oh, just get over it and stop acting like that" to a depressed person! it's pretty much the worst thing you can say to them, actually. because in their mind, "just getting over it" is not an option. they really can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

but if you just act all depressed and gloomy because that's supposed to make you cool, then that IS extremely pathetic.

anyway, just because someone likes creepy stuff like vampires and blood or something else out of the box doesn't make them a bad person, just different than you.
and who actually says that flowers are better than cemeteries? is there some kind of a law? because if there is, i sure haven't heard of it.... it's just all in your heads.

so stop fucking labeling people. tolerate.

i like to listen to my chemical romance when i'm in a cheerful mood. i think they're songs are just brilliant. in fact, i think the band has a wonderful sense of humor. it's twisted, yes, but in a kind of sarcastic way.

I agree with minimegoosey, thats what the lyrics are pretty much about, but i also heard that it might be about something more personal, that a friend of Gerard and Mikey commited suicide a few days before they went on their first tour. But i think the first meaning is probably what its about.I also think its sad how people earlier were arguing about labling and shit.I think its stupid.

i can see where people are coming from but i think its about a guy looking back and he was the one whom this women was cheating with. I think he saw what kind of life she was living and how her husband really just dindt treat her well at all and she just coulndt take it any more when they caught them and she took her own life. Now he's basicalley thinking about why she would leave him all alone and he just cant deal with it

also any one who is making fun of this song/mcr shut your fucking mouths your a bunch of 10 year olds who dont know anything about what gerad is talking about so dont fucking judge

I agree that this song is about adultery.

'Where the search lights find us
Drinking by the mausoleum door'

They found the two together.

'And they found you on the bathroom floor.

Then she killed herself.

'It isn't that much fun,
Staring down a loaded gun.'

He is saying that thinking about suicide is not what he wants.

'Did you get what you deserve?'

He is asking her if her guilt drove her to suicide.

'Is this what you always want me for?'

Then he is asking her if she knew this would happen.

Or atleast thats what I think about it.
