This night, walk the dead
In a solitary style
And crash the cemetery gates.
In the dress your husband hates.
Way down, mark the grave
Where the search lights find us
Drinking by the mausoleum door
And they found you on the bathroom floor.

I miss you, I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.

Back home, off the run.
Singing songs that make you slit your wrists.
It isn't that much fun,
Staring down a loaded gun.
So I won't stop dying, won't stop lying.
If you want I'll keep on crying.
Did you get what you deserve?
Is this what you always want me for?

I miss you, I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.

Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down.

I miss you, I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.

When will I miss you, when will I miss you so far.
And the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.
Made it so hard

Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down, way down
Way down.

My Interpretation:I think it's from the point of view of someone who was having a sort of friendship-slash-affair with a woman who had a husband who didn't treat her properly, but he (who sings the song) wasn't sure why he liked her so much. He thought he could connect with her in some way, maybe? She committed suicide in her home, and when he found out he became depressed and starting hanging around places like the cemetery and morgue, and thinking about death a lot. He's trying to work out what could've been happening to make everything this way, and he's trying to communicate with her desperately, even though he knows she's gone. I think the song in general is about him considering killing himself because of someone or something else.

General Comment:I think its about a girl he was seeing. who was married to an abusive husband. and this girl and guy (singing the song) would sneak off behind the husband's back to meet at the cemetery drive. He always believed she deserved better so that's why he asks - "did you get what you deserve?" so it explains the special bond they had. they were eachother's dream. a place they would run off to in the night - away from their troubles - that's what this song means to me. :)

Song Meaning:Okay. Since none of you are telling what your opinion is about the song, and what you think it's about, i think i will add my opinion.
So-I think this song is about Adultery. Hint-in the dress your husband hates, they found us drinking by the mausoleam door, I miss you, I miss you so far, and the collision of your kiss that made it so hard.-The girl had to leave him, that's why it was so hard.
The girl becomes suicidal. -Back home, off the run. Singing songs that make you slit your wrist, now isn't that much fun? Staring down a loaded gun....Saying she wants to kill herself.
"I won't stop lying, won't stop dying, but if you want I'll keep on crying" Says the girl, meaning-she doesn't want to stop seeing him, but it's going to hurt her so much because she's cheating on her husband.
Finally the girl kills herself, and goes to hell "and they found you on the bathroom floor."
She goes to Hell. "Way down".
It all plays backward. Telling the story of the girl after the first verse, then coming back to dying at the end when he says "way down."
Anyone else have something different?? :).

General Comment:Define "Internet Troll". Thanks to those of you who gave comments on the song!

SwimminginSunDrop and HereticBassist, I thought you guys had some really interesting comments. Not really being someone who listens to full albums in order, I hadn't realized this was supposed to be a part of that whole plotline. I guess I can see this as being part of the start of that. "Way down" as we keep talking about, could also refer to her going to hell, essentially. As I herd from another thread, he's supposed to be trying to bring her back or something like that. Well, this is where she goes down.

Yet, I completely agree with HereticBassist in that this song sounds like a half-rant on having to fit his stereotype. This song made me think a lot about why I listen to My Chemical Romance. The depression and the death-obsessed songs actually make me feel better. As someone who has had clinical depression all her life, and possibly Bipolar depression, I feel like I can't ignore that side of me. Music is a release of feelings for that. Yet, if the only thing you do is focus on death, it's depressing instead of releasing. So, it seems he's asking if he's only there to be our release of such feelings.

To swing back to the other theory, I can also see that him being depressed for her sake. Suicide is usually a call for help, asking people to pay attention. So by being depressed and mourning her, he is honoring her last wishes. He really does miss her, so he wants to do that, but yet feels tied down, because he is stuck in this situation. He can't move on to happier thoughts without betraying her.

A final conclusion. I am a strong believer of songs taking on more meaning than they were originally designed for, so I think I'll go with "all of the above" on this.

General Comment:I won't speak to the whole of the song, but (just my thoughts) It seems like the second verse might be showing a frustration with the fans wanting more of this character he's been made out to be. Most musicians allude to this same problem at some point or another, and it seems like he feels something like the classic gilded cage. It mentions "Singing songs that make you slit your wrists" and "So I won't stop dying, won't stop lying; If you want I'll keep on crying." in a tone that sounds like he doesn't want to do it any more, and not by this depressed anti-hero that, by that point in their career, seemed to be their only popular image. Just my thoughts, and I have heard that the album is some sort of concept album (though I'm skeptical) so I could be way off base, but I suppose it's always up to interpretation. I think that the bit about "Way Down" could, as someone mentioned earlier, be a reference to himself and that might support my proposal, with it even being a play on words between "Way down" and "way down"

General Comment:I think it's about a guy who finds out his girlfriend has killed herself right after he saw him a few minutes before. It means treasure the time you have with the people you care about because they could be gone before you know it.
