When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up To more than I can be.

There is no life no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up To more than I can be.

    General Comment:Secret Garden (the duo) is from Norway where approx 79% of the people consider themselves protestant (IE Lutheran). I am guessing this song was written as a testament to God's loving grace, but it doesn't matter as it means to the listener what s/he wishes to hear. Walking on stormy seas; standing on mountains; sitting on shoulders; etc represent placing ones burdens in God's hands and gaining strength from His wisdom/teachings. It's a gorgeous song. I am conflicted on which version is best: this one or Russell Watson's. Josh G. kind of stole the show with his version (it got all the air play), but I don't believe most have heard the other two.

    General Comment:I think that people should think of it in any way they want. If they want to think of it in a Godly way then that is their choice, if you don't see it that way then okay that's your choice.

    My Opinion:You know, I wonder why most people who hear this song give it some kind of religious connotation, but I really don't see the connection at all. There is no mention of Jesus or any god. There is vague mention of "eternity" but that could mean almost anything really (and if it is religious, who's to say its Christian or Judeo-Christian inspired at all?). When I hear this song its about someone who is going through some trials and there is that special someone (maybe a friend, family member or husband/wife) who they know they can always turn to and will help them no matter what. Not sure why everyone has to make it out to be some gospel thing. I guess its the godspot in their head *shrug*

    General Comment:They sing about their lost child. The Secret Garden couple lost a child, and made this to celebrate their love for it. it's not about jesus or religion at all

    General Comment:It's about someone who can always rely on another person to stand by him/her. Be it religious or non religious, I think (hope) everyone has such a special person.

    General Comment:Lovely, lovely hymn.

    I am never alone for Jesus is with me, and I will be sustained by His strenght.
