Lyrics for Fire It Up as interpreted by ICameAsaRat

Fire It Up Lyrics
Etceteranough

Fire it up, fire it up
When we finally turn it over
Make a beeline towards the border
Have a drink, you've had enough

Fire it up, fire it up
If you need some conversation
Bring a magazine to read around
Our broke down transportation

Fire it up
Etceteranough

Fire it up, fire it up
When we find the perfect water
We'll hang out on the shore
Just long enough to leave our clothes there

Fine enough, fine enough
Oh, we ate all of the oranges
Off the navels of our lovers
Grabbed a book and read the cover

It honestly was beautifully done
We'd tried to hide the daylight from the sun
Even if we had been sure enough it's true we really didn't know
Even if we knew which way to head but still we probably wouldn't go

Fire it up, fire it up
We push off, we're rolling boulders
Crashing down the mirrored stairways
Two of life's best mine canaries

Fire it up, fire it up
When we fix the carburetor
Then we'll push off once again
In an hour or so later

It honestly was beautifully bold
Like trying to save an ice cube from the cold
But even if we had been sure enough it's true we really didn't know
Even if we knew which way to head but still we probably wouldn't go
Well, we always had it all

Issac Brocks Interview with Rolling Stones

R.S.Whether you intended it or not, "Fire It Up" will be the stoner anthem of '07.

I.B. My fiancée pointed that one out to me. It wasn't my intention. I was saying "fire it up" in the sense of turning over a car. But I highly approve of stoners and stoner anthems.

R.S. Do you smoke a lot?
I.B. Not a shit-ton -- I'm not stoned right now -- but I tend to get stoned in the evenings to unwind. It can make TV more entertaining.
R.S. What TV shows do you anticipate?
I.B.I watch the same cartoons over and over again. I watch Adult Swim. I watch Futurama repeatedly. Then it's DVDs, and I'm easily amused by crappy comedies. I've seen Super Troopers too many times, and there's a house rule that we're not allowed to watch Beerfest again.

It's actually "Etceteranough", not "Is there enough?".

From the lyrics, it seems to be about a road trip to mexico.

This is a weed smoking song, disguised as a road trip song. I think I'll go fire it up right now actually...

its not a stoner anthem, isaac even said so,
its not about weed at all,
its probably about a car,
"go fire up the car"

"Fire it up, fire it up

when my car breaks down,...
i bust up weed on a magazine
fire up a joint
and have a conversation with myself

doesnt matter if he wasnt refering to fireing up a joint
cause thats what it means to me

let alone how chill the whole song sounds

it wasn't supposed to be about smoking pot, but it's cool if that what it is to you.
just know that you're wrong when you say that's what he meant for it to be about.

this song has a few beatiful phrases lyrically and musically...old school "simple" songs like "Trailer Trash"..

"Oh we ate all of the oranges
off the navels of our lovers
grabbed a book and read the cover"

you gotta admit its humorous..:)

If you made a song like this, would you actually admit it is about smoking weed? It would be a lot easier to make up some excuse than make a big deal about it. I mean "we push off", its hard to believe it is about working on cars.

I hate when people think this song is about weed.

It has nothing to do with getting high.

dumbass.

Maybe Brock wrote the song while getting stoned on a road trip or traveling on tour.

It's really ironic how road trips often involce getting stoned, to those that travel with friends that smoke at least. Earlier in the summer a few friends and I took a road trip across TX and this really was our "stoner anthem".

and another irony;

"Fire it up, fire it up
When we fix the carburetor
Then we'll push off once again
In an hour or so later"

You will never fully understand this unless your a stoner that has made a homemade bong out of a soda bottle with a fucked up carb on it.
A "carb" on a pipe is a hole in which you plug with your finger while taking the hit, and opening it to let oxygen flow in when you clear the smoke out of the pipe, much like the "carburetor" in a car engine.
Now it could just be me, but this sounds an awful lot like a guy that has a dilema with his carb, but is trying to get it fixed so in about an hour everyone can "push off" once again...
