According to one account I read online (so take this with a grain of salt,) Oingo Boingo was not happy about the release of this song. Originally this tune was recorded for Boi-ngo and not released there. However, the band wanted to end Dark at the End of the Tunnel with the song War Again (which ended up being on their next CD.) Officials at MCA, not wanting to stir up a hornet's nest, ordered the song removed from the CD and replaced it with this tune. This caused a riff between the band and MCA that eventually led to a split between the two. The song itself is about trying to work things out when a relationship is near falling apart. The singer is trying to work out his feelings with his girlfriend, wanting to keep their relationship going.
