The battle loves to choose its fights
Collapse the sight of soldiers eyes
Bombs cascading over me
May my body rest in pieces

Spring morning rain
Heal the wounds in me
On me
The battle is won
I’m not coming home

Spring morning rain
Stitch me up with strings of symphonies
On me

The battle is won
Close your eyes just dream
I’m not coming home
The battle is won
Close your eyes just

Dream of me, locked inside your mind I’ll hide
Scream my name, feel me breathe along your thighs
Close your eyes just dream

Grasping of your sheets
Turn out the lights
Holding on to memories
Never felt so right

Shaking, squirming in your skin tonight
Oh my Marie, oh my Marie

This is a reason for broken wings

Spring morning rain
Heal the wounds in me
On me

The battle is won
Close your eyes just dream
I’m not coming home
The battle is won
Close your eyes just

Dream of me, locked inside your mind I’ll hide
Scream my name, feel me breathe along your thighs
Close your eyes just dream

My Interpretation:this is a song about commitment to a relationship. when he talks about the battle, he's talking about the struggles of life. then he talks about sex and what a welcome diversion it is from all the bull crap going on out there, and how healing it is.
i say this song is about commitment because he says "this is a reason for broken wings". he is no longer looking for meaningless one night stands and random hook-ups; his wings are broken. he most likely married and is at least staying with Marie the rest of his life because she is such a comfort and help to him, in more than just sexual ways. notice how "this is A reason for broken wings", not "this is THE reason for broken wings".

General Comment:I think this song talking about someone at war and his girlfriend can only be with him in her dreams. After he dies at war.

General Comment:A Skylit Drive is singing about how love can be like a war and how it can make you feel broken, even dead
The woman he loved broke his heart and how he's "not coming home."

    "Spring morning rain,
    heal the wounds in me,
    on me."
This is a metaphor (a comparison without using the words 'like' or 'as') meaning he wants something (or someone) to come and heal him, or make him forget about his pain.

    "Grasping of your sheets
    Turn out the lights
    Holding on to memories
    Never felt so right"

He's holding on to memories, and he hopes she doesn't forget them ("Dream of me, locked inside your mind I'll hide")

My Interpretation:"The battle loves to choose its fights
Collapse the sight of soldiers eyes
    Bombs cascading over me
May my body rest in pieces"

    - It's explaining that he's going through war, and that he is possibly going to die, and eventually does, as explained later.

    "Spring morning rain
    Heal the wounds in me
    On me
    The battle is won
    I'm not coming home"

    - Spring morning rain, may be a sign of his departure from life, or heaven..hence the heal the wounds in me part in the song..the battle is won I'm not coming home, it's saying basically the battle is over, but he has died..

    Spring morning rain
Stitch me up with strings of symphonies
    On me

    - Basically same as the last verse, but using a different way of describing healing.

    The battle is won
    Close your eyes just dream
    Im not coming home
    The battle is won
    Close your eyes just...

    - Possibly this is from him looking down from Heaven or as a ghost even..watching over the one he loves, saying don't worry, just dream of me..

Dream of me, locked inside your mind Ill hide
Scream my name, feel me breathe along your thighs
    Close your eyes just dream

    - He's saying that he'll be in her memories forever, in the back of her mind. Of course she is going to miss him and call out his name, possibly in a dream..and have the memory of his breath on her skin..

    Grasping of your sheets
    Turn out the lights
    Holding on to memories
    Never felt so right

    - this verse is really self explanitory, saying that as if she is dreaming some people hold onto the sheets..the lights are out when you sleep..And most people have a recolection of memories in their sleep..always going to dream of him, so it feels right.

Shaking, squirming in your skin tonight
Oh my Marie, oh my Marie

    - She misses him and he's calling out her name as a ghost or from heaven.

This is a reason for broken wings
    - obviously he misses her, broken wings..may mean he's broken inside from having to leave his love one..

    This is just my take on the song, one of my absolute favorites.. ^_^;

General Comment:I seriously think this song, like many of their other songs, has a situation to do with Final Fantasy. For instance, this could be the scene from Final Fantasy 3/Final Fantasy 6, most commonly known as the "Opera Scene" where "Maria" loses her love "Draco" in the war. She realizes she'll never see him again and he'd never be coming back.

I'm not saying the entire song is about it, but it may have been inspired by the game. Just as their song title, "I'm not a Thief, I'm a treasure hunter" was taken from Final Fantasy 3/Final Fantasy 6. Locke, who is the Thief of the "party"/"group", constantly always says that phrase.

General Comment:okay this is prolly going to be really farfetched butttt here is a possible meaning, yet i really doubt it.

The battle loves to choose its fights
Collapse the sight of soldiers eyes
    Bombs cascading over me
May my body rest in pieces

“The battle loves to choose its fights”
Maybe the singer [or whoever the singer is
meant to represent]is in a very violent home
where his parents are always fighting
over dumb things. “Collapse the sight of
soldiers eyes’” could represent how everyone seems
to ignore the situation, even though they know
something is not right. “Bombs cascading over me”
could also represent the violence or booming voices of
his parents, or him being abused in some way. “May my
body rest in pieces” describing how he feels during and
    after everything has taken place.

    Spring morning rain
    Heal the wounds in me
    On me
    The battle is won
    I’m not coming home

    Spring morning rain
Stitch me up with strings of symphonies
    On me

I had some trouble with this too but here is
what I got. “heal the wounds in me, on me” suggests
that maybe the singer [or whoever the singer is representing]
was abused in some way as a child or something.

    The battle is won
    Close your eyes just dream
    I’m not coming home
    The battle is won
    Close your eyes just...

Dream of me, locked inside your mind I’ll hide
Scream my name, feel me breathe along your thighs
    Close your eyes just dream

    “the battle
is won” …he found a way to get revenge or make things seem
‘right’ or ‘okay’. “Close your eyes just dream,” singing to his victim,
or remembering how he felt. “dream of me, locked inside your mind
I’ll hide” the singer knows, maybe from experience, that the victim
will never let it go. “scream my name. feel me breathe along your
thighs” suggests singer raped the victim. Singer wants the victim
to say his name during his act.

    Grasping of your sheets
    Turn out the lights
    Holding on to memories
    Never felt so right

Shaking, squirming in your skin tonight
Oh my Marie, oh my Marie

This is a reason for broken wings

“grasping of your sheets. Turn out the lights” Singer raping victim.
“holding on to memories never felt so right’ Singer saying that
since he was victimized he knows holding on to the memories sucks,
but now that he’s getting his ‘revenge’ and the memories are ‘nice.’
“shaking, squirming in your skin tonight. Oh my marie..” More events
from the rape. Maybe even the victim is the singer’s daughter or a
young child, because he’s saying oh my marie, which is like ‘oh my little
flower’, which some pedophiles tend to do. “This is a reason for broken
wings” singer understands that his victim will suffer, as he did, and maybe
even feels a little bad for hurting someone and knows that they might
    never heal [like himself]

..... just a view on it. in no way do i think jordan meant for the song to be interpreted like this, but it just happens that this is how some things appear to me. :O
