Lyrics for Books from Boxes as interpreted by romanceisdead

Books from Boxes Lyrics
Night falls and towns become circuit boards
We can beat the sun as long as we keep moving
From the air, stadium lights stand out like flares
And all I know is that you're sat here right next to me
We rarely see warning signs in the air we breathe
Right now I feel each and every fragment

This paper trail leads right back to you
You say you need me to step outside

You spent the evening unpacking books from boxes
You passed me up so as not to break a promise
Scattered Polaroids and sprinkled words around your collar in the long run
Said you knew that this would happen

Well this is something new but it turns out it was borrowed too
Why does every let down have to be so thin?
Rain explodes at the moment that the cab door closed
I feel the weight upon your kiss ambiguous

You have to leave, I appreciate that
But I hate when conversation slips out of our grasp

You spent the evening unpacking books from boxes
You passed me up so as not to break a promise
Scattered Polaroids and sprinkled words around your collar in the long run
Said you knew that this would happen

Two bodies in motion
This is a matter of fact
It wasn't built to last

Two bodies in motion
This is a matter of fact
It wasn't built to last

You spent the evening unpacking books from boxes
You passed me up so as not to break a promise
Scattered Polaroids and sprinkled words around your collar in the long run
Said you knew that this would happen

The pounding rain continued its bleak fall
And we decided just to write after all, after all

The pounding rain continued its bleak fall
And we decided just to write after all

A beautiful song. New album is fantastic. Great song about a loved one moving away, and you both recognise it's over because it's not feasable to carry on. But also underlying this song is a sense of loss of passion for someone. This is highlighted by the idea of sex JUST being an action for the couple. They don't know what to say to each other any more, leaving bleak rain falling outside...

OMG this is such a stunning and emotional song. It means so much to me. It's like the badger i drive past on the way to work. So helpless but theres nothing anyone can do for it.

Sleepybadger, are you really a girl. If so, i would like to help you realise a good cock. If you're a boy you should get out more.

Still ... i really do like this song so i had to look it up and make a comment.

I love this song, the guitar is very Smiths-esque. And the video for it is quite simple, but lovely :)

tihs might not make sense to anyone else, but i see the song a little differently... it sounds to me that the song is about a guy who likes a girl who is in a relationship, and she's realised what is happening is wrong, and is letting him go...

"You passed me up so as not to break a promise"
The promise would be her being in a relationship with someone else.

"Said you knew that this would happen"
she knew what she was doing, and it was inevitable that she would fall for the other guy in some way.

"It wasn't built to last"
They knew it couldn't become a proper relationship as long as her boyfriend was still in the picture.

it makes sense to me anyway :) it's a brilliant song, and i think it can be interpreted in quite a few ways, depending on your way of thinking.

"We barely see warning signs in the air we breathe"
"i feel the weight apon your kiss, ambiguous"
The two best lyrics in the song!

this is a fab song... lyrics are so good! but then again, that's what we expect from this lot :) i think it's about a relationship where the girl isn't as into the whole thing as the guy is & he's just realised...?

btw there's a competition to get a pair of tickets to see them @ leeds... check it out! http://www.maximopark.com/news/index.php?int_news_id=93

forgive me for being stupid, but if she's leaving, then why is she unpacking books from boxes? shouldn't she be packing them up?

great song - love it! and especially the bit where he says 'appreciate that' ...what an accent! swoooon

one of my favourite songs of theirs.
'i feel the weight upon your kiss, ambiguous' = probably one of the most beautiful lyrics i have ever heard. it's not just a random selection of rhymes with these guys, it all comes together to mean something. love it.

LivOfDiamonds - I think the unpacking books from boxes thing is the girl moving in with someone else, her partner perhaps, instead of going off out somewhere with this other guy who she's secretly seeing.
Well that's what I got :/

everyones got the right idea, its about a severed relationship. but in my head, i see a couple being separated as a consequence of their individual lives, i.e. school, work. and as time wears on, the sterility of stability bleaks against the past's emotions. and as a conclusion, they start writing to each other again, having been unable to drown the memories.
but im never right about these things.

this song ties in with parisien skies. someone having to leave. i think its about his ex rebecca and their break up. her having to leave for, i presume paris. they decided not to have a long distance relationship "we decided just to write after all"

Agree with those who say it's about a relationship that isn't happening. He wants to be closer but she's not willing to break up with her partner. Nothing has been said between them although they both tacitly acknowledge that they like each other and decide to write. Excellent song, with Johnny Mar style guitars.

It sounds like a girl who is moving in with someone else, but theres an undeniable attraction between singer and girl. The line "it wasn't built to last" either sounds like their lying to themselves about their attraction, or her and the other guy.

I personally don't think the lyrics have anything to do with them being together.

"We rarely see warning signs in the air we breathe
Right now I feel each and every fragment"

great lines, that just represents the attraction in my mind.
