Maybe the sun will shine today
The clouds will blow away
Maybe I won't feel so afraid
I will try to understand either way

Maybe you still love me, maybe you don't
Either you will or you won't
Maybe you just need some time alone
I will try to understand
Everything has its plan
Either way I'm going to stay right for you

Maybe the sun will shine today
The clouds will roll away
Maybe I won't be so afraid
I will understand
Everything has its plan either way

General Comment:When I first started listening to this song I was trying to get and stay clean and also in a very touchy place in a relationship. To me the song is telling a loved one not to worry that his or her actions or words might cause a relapse. It helped me tell the other person to relax and live without being on egg shells around me. I had to do what I had to do and that no matter what else happened, I still had to do what I had to do. It is a very selfish and a very empowering concept. To me the song is about acceptance of myself, and those things I can not control.

General Comment:I don't know I see it as kind of sad but kind of hopefull. I don't know I just read "Learning How to Die" their biography-type book and I found out a lot about Jeff Tweedy that I didn't before. I don't know, like I see this as his "love song" for his wife. It's like a marriage that's been going on for 5, 10, 50 years, time is irrelevant. But his love for his wife is so strong, and even though they may fight and disagree and she may treat him like crap and etc., even though it's a fight to stay together, he will fight for it, because he loves her so much. It doesn't matter if it's a good day or a bad day, it's as simple as that. Hence the "Maybe the sun will shine today" it doesn't matter "Maybe you still love me, maybe you don't" it doesn't matter, because he will always love her and do anything for her. I think it's incredibly romantic, actually. ANd coming from Jeff Tweedy and learning a little bit more about him, I think it's extremely fitting for his style.

General Comment:The great thing about lyrics is the ambiguity. The artist has intensions for his art to be understood one way, but the individual listener of course brings in their own perspective. I like this song a lot b/c it speaks an universal truth. Change and uncertainity and love is JUST like the wind. You make plans, try to understand WHY, even try to prepare for the storms, but really we don't know what the weather might be like. All we can do in life is try to stay right?

General Comment:the song as a whole may be more about ambiguity, but you can't tell me that the middle verse isn't about a relationship, sorry.

and unfortunately, it IS where i am right now. oh well.

General Comment:I agree with calvins hobbies. Music is art, just like a painting; although the artist may have meant it to represent one idea, it can be interpreted any way the viewer, or listener in our case, wishes. With that said, I think this song is beautiful as well.

General Comment:yeah jeff tweedy told pitchfork what it meant to him, but if you listen to him talk enough (and even read it in that quote above), you'll find that he believes everyone is still entitled to their own interpretation. after all, wouldn't it be a pretty boring place if all we had was one interpretation for everything? so i don't really think "everything else written on this page is purely done for the sake of writing", no matter how pretentious you are...

General Comment:no offense everybody but Tweedy tells you what this song about in that little Pitchfork Q+A. Everything else written on this page is purely done for the sake of writing. The man says it's about grasping and accepting ambiguity. When you read the lyrics in that light they make perfect sense.
