this is just a fun song. she's happy to live with her parents and her brother because at least she doesn't have a soul-sucking 9 to 5 job.

I always think of Regina's little brother asking her to write a song about him (maybe even just jokingly/playfully) and her not knowing quite what to write when I hear this. And then it just sort of lapses into a stream-of-consciousness sort of thing.

This probably isn't the song's real origin at all, but it makes me smile nonetheless.

I haven't heard this song but reading the lyrics makes me think it's about how happy she is to have a family, and a family that she loves and a family that loves her and that she gets to be with her family a lot. Regina seems to have a very strong connection with Bear. :]

ok. never mind. i did some extensive searching, and respektonline.com is probably the best site ive found with regina downloads, as far as having them all in one place goes. i havent looked too in-depth, but it seems to have probably most, if not all, of her songs. which is great, because frankly searching the internet for every new song i hear of gets a bit tiring!

from the one recording I heard it always seems to me like even though she's laughing she's on the verge of crying because she misses and loves her brother so much. I know it's probably not true at all and more likely she's just giggling b/c it's a silly-albeit sweet- song.

hey, i read in the booklet for "far" that her brother's first name is "Borusch". (i lent it to a friend, so i don't have a way to spell-check. sorry if that's wrong!) before, i always wondered secretly if she made up "bear spektor", or if he were a teddy bear that she called her little brother, sort of an only-child sort of thing. Or maybe her parents are as quirly as Reg, and decided that Bear was the greatest name you could ever bestow upon your child. But now i see that it's just an awesome nickname that he probably goes by. But at least it's not on his birth certificate!

Ah, yes, rambling, my old friend. I've missed you so...
EDIT: well now i don't feel special-- just old light beat me to the punch. Two years ago. hm. well now you have double the support: the child's name is certanly not bear.

anyway, adorable song. and @ fruition: You're making me sad! now whenever i hear that recording, i'm going to think she feels like crying! :-( oh well. i still love the song.

last thing: i kind of agree with just old light (hello again!). i think this song was an effort to make a song just for Bear, and i find it hysterical that 1) she obviously runs out of things to say, 2) she remembers the stuff she was singing, even though it wasn't anything profound, and 3) she performed it for an audience! lol ok, well i'm going to stop talking now...
