My cold, cold sailor heart says, "Get on your way."
I ain't too proud to say it but that's how I'm made
I'll be that person 'till my dying day
I try so awful hard but I can't change

From runways to the road I ramble alone
This thumbnail sized heart is black as coal
Though beauty it still bring me to my knee
Don't waste a tear on me this my disease

Don't leave no smell on me
Don't leave no smell on me
I've run off in your sleep
Don't leave no smell on me

Those preppy boys in blue they're making fun of us
So we take it to the street 'cause we're an ornery cuss
But we're not here to make your children bleed
We're here to come around with the tumbleweed

Don't leave no smell on me
Don't leave no smell on me
I've run up in your sleeve
Don't leave no smell on me

Now guitar, go get her

Don't take these boots off me when you thinking I'm dead
I'll still be running from demon in my head
I'll be that person 'till my dying day
I try so awful hard but I can't change

Don't leave no smell on me
Don't leave no smell on me
I know I'm up your sleeve
Don't leave no smell on me

Don't leave no

General Comment:ok correct me if im wrong but i think this song is about the bands use of marijuanna
im probley really far off but i know theyve openly admitted to smoking before every show to the rollingstone so i was thinking

dont leave no smell on me- reffering to the pot
dont shed no tears for me, its my disease- this is his fault dont be sympethetic
i try so hard but i cant change- he wants to stop but its just how he lives cuz the road life is tough
but we're not here to make your children bleed- they dont mean any harm its just how they are its a lifestyle for them now
dont take these boots off me when im dead- dont bother lying about how i lived
ill still be running from the demon in my head- hes always gonna have whatever causes him to smoke in his head

i know it sounds far fetched but its what i got out of it

General Comment:Its obviously Now Guitar, go get her! Im surprised this song has so little comments, if you ever watch the live O2 arena.. this song is probably the one he sings with more "feeling" and its the last one!

General Comment:i agree with ashie, i'm pretty sure he says 'now guitar, go get her'. lots of bands say things like that before guitar solos for example zeppelin and old blues artists, and kol was influenced by both. Also, i like to think this song is just about having a gypsy soul. the band travels everywhere and he is just blowin around from town to town. he sometimes wishes he could stay places but its not in his nature. Again this is a popular theme especially with old southern rock bands and blues.

General Comment:Good call grizzlydandans. I think that it might very well be about bipolar especially with the line "Don't waste a tear on me it's my disease." "Though I ain't too proud to say but that's how I'm made"....this line also nails it. I have read and heard about bipolar, I agree that this song seems to be about it, if not, it definitely discusses an element or two of the disease like depression.

General Comment:Yes i agree geri22 about the rolling stone article,
but for me this song is about Bi-Polar disorder, which ( i think if im right) is calebs , learn a lil about bipolar and re-listen to the record this verse =
From runways to the road I ramble alone
This thumbnail size of heart is black as coal
Though beauty it still brings me to my knees
Don't waste a tear on me it's my disease

    and this verse
Don't take these boots off me when you think that I'm dead
I'll still be running from the demon in my head
I'll be that person till my dying day
I try so awful hard but I can't change

maybe im biased a i have bipolar and this is what the songs seems a feels like to me
