You and I - we may look the same
But we are very far apart
There's bullet-holes where my compassion used to be
And there is violence in my heart

Into fire you can send us
From the fire we return
You can label us a consequence
Of how much you have to learn

You can try, but you'll never understand
This is something you will never understand
Can you hear it now?
Hear it coming now?
Can you hear it now?

On hands and knees
We crawl
You cannot stop us all
Our bones, our skin
We will not let you in

You have set something in motion
Much greater than you've ever known
Standing there in all your grand naivety
About to reap what you have sown

Time will feed upon your weaknesses
And soon you'll lose the will to care
When you return to the place that you call home
We will be there, we will be there

On hands and knees
We crawl
You cannot stop us all
Our blood will stay
We will not go away

On hands and knees
We crawl
You can not stop us all
Our blood, our ways
Will never leave this place

We crawl
We crawl
We crawl
We crawl

General Comment:I find it sort of ironic how, simply put, this song is Reznor demonstrating collective unity in a good light, while two songs later, in "God Given," he bashes collective unity. Decorate both songs up however you want, when you get down to the bones of them, "My Violent Heart" is about collective unity as a necessary weapon for freedom and "God Given" is about collective unity as a diabolic weapon of fear and hate.

General Comment:arg, two years late... it says in the booklet:

"on hands and knees, we crawl
    you cannot stop us all
you wear our bones, our skin
we will not let you win"

    and later...

"on hands and knees, we crawl
you can not stop us all
    our blood, our grace
    will never leave this place"

I can't add anything else that someone hasn't said. Year zero story, neat song. ;]

My Interpretation:I see this song as a sort of message from the rebels to the system, "on hands and knees we crawl, you cannot stop us all" is how it is when a country such as America who has a strong military and a weak populace (weapon-wise) were to battle, we have the numbers but they have the fire power, so we will be on our hands and knees but they can't possibly stop us all and in the end we will win because their weapons will run dry and we will fight them in familiar territory. and the part "when you return to the place that you call home, we will be there, we will be there." also shows the power of numbers, we will be there no matter what, they will always be on edge, at least they should be :) this is just my interpretation of the song and because it's so powerful to me I can't see it as the system or anyone else it is us telling those fuckers that they cannot win even if we are on our hands and knees they cannot stop us all

General Comment:This song is NOT just about the war in Iraq. This song is about our government (as the rest of Year Zero). It's about the Art is Resistance movement. It's about not taking the bullshit that's being fed to us anymore. This whole album is about that. This song is saying that if we all join together and stand up and use our voice the government can't stop us, they can't push us around anymore. WAKE UP AND GIVE A SHIT. Art is Resistance, you have a voice...use it!

General Comment:You're all basically saying, either US soldiers vs. Iraq, or the people vs. Bush. So decide, I wanna know.
Though, I'd go for the first one, because it sounds kind of evil-ish and unjust.

General Comment:"And don't drink tap water."

Yeah. BUY water instead. How brilliant. Lets tell the people water s poison so they will pay us ridiculous amounts of money for water in little bottles.

General Comment:I don't know why, But I keep picturing an army of dead/mutilated soldiers (Maybe psychologically damaged)

you can label us a consequence
of how much you have to learn. "
