    General Comment:I also think it's about being murdered (or I guess it could be a metaphor for her doing something really emotionally/socially awful to him). My feeling is that he did something really crappy to the girl -- as another poster said, he broke a promise that probably had to do with love and commitment (for example, by cheating) -- and this is her revenge. I think he's saying something like, "I did something really bad... but not THIS bad," and that because she decided to get revenge, now she'll always carry with her that guilt and darkness. I think he's sorry though; the lyrics aren't angry, they're just sort of reflective, and he keeps mentioning what he did. The "black dirt" was caused by her own action and is her own burden to carry, but since that action was in response to something he did, he feels a bit responsible. I think he wishes she hadn't done it, not just because he's bleeding out (literally or metaphorically), but because he feels kind of bad for her, that she'll have to carry that guilt around now.

    General Comment:when I hear it, it reminds me of going through my heart transplant and how it feels to die (lose senses, sounds, growing pale) and my loved ones continuing on with my memory. Luckily that all didn't happen but I love Sea Wolf when he talks about life and Death issues, it's a blessing to have something to relate that deeply to

    Lies "black dirt" will stain your feet... a lie can corrupt and consume your life and those around you. That one decision to stray from the truth can linger on with you throughout "life".. causing you to be numb to admit the truth to others or even yourself...

    General Comment:One thing I disagree with most posts about is that I don't think the girl dumped him. I think the promise was the promise of love and commitment.

    He is acknowledging that damage he did to this person and also feeling sorry for himself because, hey, sometimes it breaks your own heart to break up with someone.

    General Comment:I think this song is about the singer becoming a zombie after being killed...and now hes walking around town scaring people...with black dirt falling off him and he walks around the street -- and hes saying that when he kills other people they too will be like him.

    its wild but its the first thing that came to mind.
