She said call me now baby,
And I'd come a running,
She said call me now baby,
And I'd come a running,
If you'd call me now baby,
I'd come a running

I'm on call,
So be there,
One and all
To be there,
When I fall,
To pieces,
Don't you know,
I'll be there waiting

I'm gonna brawl
So be there,
One for all,
Be there,
When they fall,
To pieces,
Don't you know,
I'll be there laughing

I'll come a running,
I come a running,
I've come a running,

Be there!

I'm on call
So be there

I'm on call to be there!

General Comment:Ok. I think I finaly got it. Confusing lyrics with the different voices, but I think it's about the girl in the beginning letting him know that she's always there for him, the fact she tells him she'd come running to him at the drop of a hat if he just said the word. Then its apparent he really does feel the same too (he also sings he'll be there) but he's not in a good state of mind right now. He's dealing with brawls and not really able to be there for her the way he wants, but he has to get through some major things first. He really does want to be with her, "Lord" knows, but its not the right time and he will in the future.

General Comment:I think it's like what hammer 2 said.
That it's from the girl's perspective after the first bit.
    He's a bit of a mess, but she's there.
I don't think it's about God at all.
Hope not anyway, it's one of my favourite songs.

Song Meaning:What I take from this song is a man being in love with a girl who's in a relationship that's on the rocks, and when she needs a shoulder to cry on he'll "be there" and when they break up and/or "fall to pieces" he'll be there laughing because its his chance...when ever she needs him, he'll "come a running". Brilliant Song!!!

My Interpretation:I think it's about God, and how he'll be there waiting, on call, when we fall to pieces :)

General Comment:It's definately "Lord" and not "Dont." Shouldn't have been hard to get the lyrics correct since they are printed in the cd booklet. There's a few other places where they got the lyrics wrong, but the "Lord" mix-up is the biggest mistake.

I am thinking the "She" in the song isn't just some woman or girl he's in love with. I believe "She" is a reference to God and the perspective of the song is from Jesus point of view. The song, imho, is alluding to the battle between good and evil at the end of time. Jesus is "On Call" to be there. The thought of what could occur at the time of his calling haunts him, and yet his will to be there to help the people he loves is indomitable.

My Interpretation:ok so upon looking at the song a litttttttttle bit closer and after reading what everyone else has written i'm gonna see what y'all think about this...ok so at start of the song it's "she said call me now baby and i'd come a running...." and then the rest of that specific stanza it's all from the girls perspective...well then the song continues to use "i'd" "i'll" and "i'm" consistently to the end...it never changes from her perspective and no one new is introduced...so i guess what i'm suggesting is that the entire song isn't even from the singers perspective but the girl's...it's not about a boy being there for a girl but quite the opposite it's the game that we play in relationships and how more often than not the girl is just waiting at home for that validation and that initiation of communication from the guy that she is really into...it's like she's begging him to contact her by-the-end of the song with "i'll come a running i come a running i've come a running" so this guy knows that pretty much whenever he wants an easy hook-up he can contact this specific girl because she's essentially desperate...i have a feeling people might not agree but eh oh well... :)

Song Meaning:I’m not perfect, but here is what I hear (I find it easier to just write the whole thing out.):

She said call me now baby,
    And I'd come a running (x2)
If you'd call me now baby,
    I'd come a running

    I’m on call
    TO be there
    One and all
    To be there
    When I fall
    To pieces
    LORD, you know
    I’ll be there waiting (x2)

    I’m gon’ brawl
    So be there
    One for all
    Be there,
    When they fall
    To pieces
    LORD, you know
    I’ll be there laughing

    ((I come a running
    I’d come a running
    I’ve come a running))

    ((I’ll be there
    You’ll be there))
I’m on call ((to be there))
    I’m on call ((you’ll be there)) (x2)
I’m on call to be there

The first stanza could be a representation of their mother and her faith. She was really religious and that could be showing her devotion to God. The family travelled all over; that is to say, wherever God “called” they “ran”.

Even this album was named with a religious influence. They have the a devotion to God (as I said previously) even if they fall they know that their God feels the same way about them and that He’ll come to pick up “the pieces” that they “fall” into.

As a Christian myself, we are told we are in a battlefield. We fight not against people, but evil (a bit abstract I know). In the war of it all he knows that God’s side will win (with God being there-on their call)

Present, future, and past- consistency… you get the gist for the rest! 

General Comment:JUST CALL MY NAME, AND I'LL BE THERE. JUST LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER!!

The lyrics in this song are WEAK, but the bass line is pretty awesome.
