Lyrics for G.I.N.A.S.F.S. as interpreted by shrodes

G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Lyrics
I've loved everything about you that hurts, so
Let me see your moves,
Let me see your moves
Lips pressed this close to mine,
True Blue

But the prince of any failing empire knows that
Everybody wants, everybody wants
To drive on through the night
If it's a drive back home

Things aren't the same anymore
Some nights, they get so bad
You almost pick up the phone

Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts
And walk through this house in your shoes,
You know it's strange
It's a strange way of saying,
I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you

I've already given up on myself twice
Third time is the charm, third time is the charm
Threw caution to the wind
But I've got a lousy arm

And I've traced your shadows on the wall
Now I kiss them whenever I'm down
Whenever I'm down
Figured on not figuring myself out

Things aren't the same anymore
Some nights, they get so bad
I almost pick up the phone

Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts
And walk through this house in your shoes,
You know it's strange
It's a strange way of saying
That I know I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you

Born under a bad sign, but you saved my life
That night on the roof of your hotel
"Cross my heart and hope to die
Splintered from the headboard in my eye"
Photo-proofed kisses I remembered so well

Trade baby blues for wide eyed browns
I sleep with your old shirts
And walk through this house in your shoes,
You know it's strange
It's a strange way of saying
That I know I'm supposed to love you
I'm supposed to love you

Now press repeat

i would think that g i n a s f s stands for "gay is not a synonym for stupid" as peter said it in a q&a a while ago.

No it's definitely 'Gay Is Not A Synonym For Shitty'. Makes sense really.

"Oh, that's gay" doesn't mean "That's homosexual" nowadays does it?

I also believe this song was once called True Blue, although I can't prove it :)

its 'Gay Is Not A Synonym For Shitty'

You Can't Spell Star Without A&R became This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race

and about the song i think its pretty much him really missing someone (probably jeanae) and reflecting on thier past relationship. also i think the lyrics are a bit off on the part about the shoes.

Yeah I thought the bit with the shoes sounded wrong... any corrections would be good. I do edit my lyrics unlike some people :)

I dunno, this might be a bit far fetched, but that bit about "And want through this house. In your shoes, you know it's strange" might be "And WALK through this house..." It makes a bit more sense.
Also, I really like this song and there's some lines in there that hit home.

Yes I considered walk through this house, and had it down, but then later it changes to what sounds to me like 'Hope through this house'... unless that's HOP through this house :)

PS. It's a UK bonus track from Infinity On High

I think the first one is "I sleep with your old shirts and walk through this house"

Yeah I don't know whether it's "I sleep" or "Asleep" (damn you Patrick!) but I changed it.

Seriously, this song should have been on the album everywhere. Amazing song.

Also, do you think it's:

"I loved everything about you that hurt, so"
or
"I loved everything about you, that hurt, so"

Because they both have different connotations.

One means that he was hurt by her (the latter), and the other means he's 'getting off on being down' as they like to put it (the former).

To drive off through the night
lyric book says 'to drive on through the night if its the drive back home'

Lips pressed close to mine,
lips predded this close to mine

And caution to the wind
threw caution to the wind

and one more
I was born under a bad sign
but you saved my life
That night on the roof of your hotel
Cross my heart and hope to die
Splintered from the headboard in my eye
photo proofed kisses I remembered so well

Yes, but they're different tenses.

Loved = past
Hurts = present

Haha maybe I'm just getting caught up in a meaningless line :)

shrodes - to answer your proof question about it being called True Blue, i have a clip of True Blue, about a minute and a half long, and it is G.I.N.A.S.F.S. so you are correct.
