And now that I think about, I wonder, do those bullies fill happy about themselves now?

This whole passage is describing that their friend was planning to kill himself, and how he felt half guilty because "it took more than just you" (you are not the sole cause of you're death)
Then how can someone be "helpless" but then kill themselves? Because it contradicts itself (because people who kill themselves are often in a lot of pain and don't want to live anymore)
