This song is so absolutely beautiful. I love the way it can make you feel heartbroken, even if you've never fully experienced heartbreak. (Then again, who hasn't in some way?)

"Wake up in the morning, stumble on my life." describes the feeling of waking up from a dream and going back into the real world, stumbling upon it as if, in your dreams, everything had vanished.

The rest of this part is mostly self-explanatory. I don't think that the "Little bit of Heaven, little bit of hell" was supposed to mean he wishes anything bad upon the person; I think in life, there's a natural balance of good and evil which keeps us sane.
"This is the hardest story that I've ever told, no hope of love or glory, Happy ending's gone forevermore." speaks for itself. "I feel as if I'm wasted, and I'm wasting everyday" describes the feeling of feeling wasted, drunk, numb. Wasting everyday feeling bad about what went wrong.

"2 o'clock in the morning, someone's on my mind. Can't get no rest; keep walking around." obviously describes the feeling of waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to sleep, because your brain continues to replay events and conversations with that person. Pretending nothing ever went wrong, and going to sleep pretending that you're still together, at least for some closure until morning.

I think the way the song goes "This is the way you left me, I'm not pretending." speaks for both how he's not being dramatic for attention, or to make the other person feel bad, and he's NOT stretching the truth for record sales.

This song is so sadly beautiful.

I think that this song is less about a break-up and more about life afterwards. The lyrics are saying "I have no future without you." I think that Erase and Happy Ending fit together (Erase is the break-up, Happy Ending is the aftermath).

I think..Mika is singing after breaking up, the one is still missing the other, but with a bit hate. He or she has given up on prestending or hidding the truth that he gets hurt, sometimes we don't wanna show off that part when the pain is deepest..
I feel a lot abt this song.good one.Cuz I went thru two breakup this year..

my teachers, miss johnson and miss campbell both love this song, at art,we always put the radio on, and one day this song came on and miss C was like "oh goodness! MIKA!" we were like "OMG!!! miss campbell likes MIKA!!!!" and miss J was all "children stop chatting, i want to hear the words!"

this song relates to me and my friend's suicide. this is the way he left us. we can't pretend he died any other way. he had no hope, his death had no glory, i still love him, even though he's not here anymore. telling people about him is so hard. especially because dumb people think that people who take their lives are weak. if i could pretend my friend didn't take his life, just moved away, then i'd get a lot more sleep at night. wouldn't have the haunting images of him with a gun to his head. all he needed was a little love

I don't know why you only talk about it as a break up this song is more EPIC than that!!!

It's about life in general not only about Love but friendship: "This is the way that we love,
Like its forever,
Then live the rest of our life,
Both not together" How can you say this is only about love but more like friendship(or family) You think you'll be friends forever than as time move on you grow up and you become sperate and live on your life.

But of course (not always) everything happens as you grow up... There pain, love, lust, death and so on... as joy and ecc. We grow up and think we'll be together forever but grow up and distant yourself (going unnotice by yourself) and move on. It also depend which kind of life you're living...

This is the only song i do like about this guy :D it's amazing:

This song has to be da most charged up of mikas.
Although everyone has diff interpretations I have to say this is all about a break up. =[

And yes all us unlucky bums out there who have been dumped by someone we love would feel connected to most of da song.

"wake up in the morning.. cant get no love without sacrifice.."- um in the process of finding real love it takes alot of hurt to actually find it

"i wish.. a little bit of heaven a little bit of hell" the hate/love feeling you sort of get when you break up.

"hardest story ive ever told" it hurts to look back and tell people the story of how we USE to love.
well everything is pretty self explanatory lol. but um to all u guys and girls with a broken heart- ull find true love one day =]
