I made a habit of never making promises That aren't easy to keep And there you have it but now I'm making one That is to keep you here with me 'Cause every second that goes by I feel it's just a waste of time if I'm not with you If home is where the heart is Then my home is where you are But it's getting, oh, so hard To spend these days without my heart So I'm taking you with me Anywhere that I could ever want to be For the rest of my life I want you there with me And if there ever comes a time When I should have to leave I hope you know That I, I'm taking you with me And so I'm trying to hold it all together And make it through the day When I'm just dying to drop it all and take your hand So we can run away From all the miles and the hours That seem to endlessly devour The time that I could be with you If home is where the heart is Then my home is where you are But it's getting, oh, so hard To spend these days without my heart So I'm taking you with me Anywhere that I could ever want to be For the rest of my life I want you there with me And if there ever comes a time When I should have to leave I hope you know That I, I'm taking you with me Every second that goes by Is one more second off my life And it couldn't be more clear I'm literally dying without you here And every second that goes by Is one more second off my life And it couldn't be more clear I'm dying without you here Yeah, every second that goes by Yeah, every second that goes by So I'm taking you with me Anywhere that I could ever want to be For the rest of my life I want you there with me And if there ever comes a time When I should have to leave I hope you know That I, I'm taking you with me

General Comment:*headdesk* What is with you people who think it's always about girls!?! 90% of the time Mmatt sings about relationships, it's about God. This is in there. Too many Chirstians are leaving God for Sunday. Here, Matt promises that he's taking God with him everywher ehe goes, spreading the good newss.

General Comment:I think this song is obviously about God. In the chorus he is talking about "taking you with me" anywhere and everywhere at every moment. How can that be about anyone other than God? My faverite line "if home is where the heart is, then home is where you are" seems like a direct reference to the Bible. It also makes more sense that you would be dying without God that without a girl.

My Interpretation:I've always seen it as a song about God.
Scripture(Luke 12:34 and Matthew 6:21) teaches that your heart is where your treasure is, and if your treasure is heaven, your heart is in heaven. It could be seen the same way with a girl, but then your heart isn't in heaven. That's how I've always seen it. Plus, to "drop it all and take your hand" could be seen as dropping everything(including a girlfriend) and taking God's hand.

That's just my interpretation. I'm not saying the girl interpretation is wrong at all.
This is just what the song means to me, especially since it seems to be linked to scripture.

My Interpretation:Personally, I see this song as being about a girl. When I listen and sing to this song, it makes think about a girl I really like. The one line, "'Cause every second that goes by, I feel is just a waste of time if I'm not with you" is exactly how I feel on the weekends when I don't see her. Also, this line, "So I'm trying to hold it all together and make it through the day When I'm just dying to drop it all and take your hand So we could run away From all the miles and the hours that seem to endlessly devour the time that I could be with you" is exactly how I feel. I wish I could just spend some time with her to talk and enjoy her company, but it seems like there's always SOMETHING going on to get in the way of that.

Anyhow, I'm not saying its not about God, because to someone in a different situation in their life, this song COULD be about God to them. But where I'm at in my life right now, in my spirirtual and physical life, this song reminds me of the girl that I really like, not God.

General Comment:okay, for one, Relient K can be both Christian and mainstream, and I don't really understand why everyone's arguing about it!

I think the song is about a girl. My boyfriend is in YWAM in NY but we're both from TX so the song reminds me of him when he goes up there.

General Comment:I think this is about a love relationship between a girl and a guy more than a relationship with God. There are some songs where you can kind of tell when they are talking about God and they kind of sound like a relationship, but Pr3ttyLiLD3viL made a good point with the
"When I'm just dying to drop it all and take your hand
So we could run away" Part of the song. xD
This song reminds me a lot of someone I really like too. And that we're far away

General Comment:Yea well the line where it says "When I'm just dying to drop it all and take your hand
So we could run away" how can he say that about Christ? I mean yes you could see this song in that way but i think its more about a girl than God.

General Comment:I think quite a few songs sound a lot different, like "Deathbed" or "Must have done something right"

General Comment:For some reason this is an unusual type song for relient k to sing, the style of this music seems a bit different than what they've done in the past... Whatever... Cool song.
