Lyrics for My Way Home Is Through You as interpreted by A Red Hotel

My Way Home Is Through You Lyrics
Gonna take off all my skins
Tell them pull out all my insides
When they rifle in,
Mom and dad think you'll be saved

They never had the time,
They're gonna medicate your lives
You were always born a crime
We salute you in your grave!

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'd do just to get back in your arms

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'd do just to get back in your arms

[Well my gun, fires seven different shades of shit, so whats your favorite color, Punk?]

Do you want to hold my hand?
Could you sign this photograph?
Cause I'm your biggest fan.
Would you leave me lying here?

We're not here to pay a compliment
And sing about the government
Oxycodine genocide
Adolescent suicide
I'll give you my sincerity
Don't give a fuck about a Kennedy
Here's what I've got to say!

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'd do just to get back in your arms

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'd do just to get back in your arms

Ohhhh
Whoa, Yeah yeah oh.
[We've got to go! x7]

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'd do just to get back in your arms

Can't find my way home
But it's through you and I know
What I'd do just to get back in your arms

Can't find the way, can't find the way
Can't find the way-ay-ay-ay-ay
Can't find the way, can't find the way
Can't find the way-ay-ay-ay-ay

[C'mon angel, dont you cry, C'mon angels dont you cry x2]

Yah, I enjoy their heavier stuff.

Bury Me In Black,
The Jetset Life,
Mama
This one...
though I love all their songs.

I'm not sure what this song means but, I think its a bit personal to MCR, that bit about "Could you sign this autograph" makes it feel that way.

Seven different shades of shit, so whats your favorite color punk?!
^ No idea, im brain dead today, maybe it'll come to me :P

i like how Mcr seems to end one note shy of finishing this song... like to give some closure to the song.. if noticed they do that on a lot of songs...

A red hotel.. do you really consider mama and the jetset life hard? oh well but i think the "my line serves 7 different shades of shit" line is coming from the mouth of whoever the speaker is singing to.. they are replyin tot the speaker sayin their way home is through them.. i'm not sure what that means but... it just seems like this wouldnt be something the speaker would say.. yet a reply...

*shrugs*

i've thought about it again ;) btw: thank you for your ideas!
well, another thing has come to my mind.... i think they're making fun of (maybe their "false") fans, as chemicalnirvana495 said it.
now the line [Well my life..??? Seven different shades of shit, so whats your favorite color, Punk?!]
comes directly before that.. so maybe they refer to some wannabe punks or whatever, saying to them (more or less) that these people don't even know that "punk" can't be defined as a color...
(i hope you understand me).. well that one doesn't work if he adresses a certain person with "punk".
*lol* i'd better stop now^^

hmm. This song is hard to get one meaning for as it seems to jump through a few different ones, but I think maybe I've got something.

I think it's about getting to the point where you've toured and interviewed and everything so much that you're not even really sure who you are anymore. "The way home" can either be literal or mean the way to get back to your true self.

It's also about the fans who look to the band to "save them" since their parents don't do anything besides throw prescriptions at their problems. Knowing someone looks up to you in that way has to be inspiring but also stressful - helping these fans brings them closer to feeling whole but they've still got fangirls who would leave them "lying here" the second something new comes along.

The "we're not here to pay a compliment" verse is a response to people wondering if they were going to get more political on this album - they're not; it's not their style. It's also saying don't look too deep into these lyrics - the song is about them (and us); not any sort of commentary on the world.

In the end, who is the "way home" actually through? I don't think it ends up being the fans - I think it was people who cared about them before all of this started and they just wanted to get back to that (especially if this song was written during their stay at the Paramour - "WE'VE GOT TO GO"). I think he is referring to a relationship with a girlfriend that got strained through distance. "what I'd do just to get back in your arms...c'mon angel, don't you cry"

I think that's everything except the "seven different shades of shit" part, which could just be how some people will react negatively to their music no matter what they do - they will see it all as crap without giving it a chance because it's "emo" and not hard/punk/rock/whatever enough (which is amusing considering that this is probably one of their punkiest songs).

Gerard Sings: 'What I'd Do Just To Get Back In Her Arms"
And In The First Verse I Don't Actually Know What He Says But It Doesn't Sound Like He Says "When They Run For Him"
That Aside,
grayce Had A Very Good Point. Mine Is A Tiny Bit Different.
I Feel Like MCR's Fans, The Kids Whose Parents Sort Of Don't Always Have Their Best Intersets At Heart, Are Looking Up To This Band As A Way Out Of Their Sort-Of Shitty Lives. Gerard(Or Whomever Is Supposed To Be Telling The Story) Knows This
And He Tries To Help Them. The Second Verse Is His Fans Talking To Him. They Depend On His So Much, They Are Asking If He Would Just Leave Them In Whatever Mess Their In. He Finally Decides He Just Wants His Old Life Back, Before He Was A Hero To All These Kids. So He's Talking To Someone, Telling Them He'd Do Anything To Just Be Back In An Old's Loves Arms. The Fans Realize This And Get Upset, And He Tries To Tell Them What His Band Was All About In The First Place. They Don't Understand, And he Just Tells Them That He Needs To Take Break, He Can't Be Their Hero Anymore, And Not To Cry About Him Because Things Have To Get Better.
When I First Heard the Song I Also Got The Feeling It was Written From Gerard To Mikey =/

Perhaps... the seven different shades refers to different pills? There seems to be a bit of a... crappy teenage life vibe within the song, and there is definitely some reference to pills, and being forced on medication for not being just right. There's so many different pills, they ask "What's your favorite color?"

But also, I see the second verse as completely said by a fan.. an exaggerated account, almost mockingly in the beginning, with "Could you sign this photograph" and "Cause I'm your biggest fan". The "Would you leave me lying here?" however, strikes me as a fan saying... do you really care? Do you mean the words you sing?

I see it as MCR's way of saying that they mean it. They understand what teens are putting up with, that they're turning to them for support and hope. They're not singing about government or giving compliments.

The chorus seems too romantic to refer to fans... but I think it might. I don't see it as the band's view, but the view of a fan. They can't figure out how to feel better, but the band can help out.

There's a lot of different ways to interpret the song. I'll have to listen to it again, but I didn't here "when they run for him", but "when they rifle in". But the previous lyric makes more sense, and I imagine parents running to a doctor..

The lines I do see MCR saying is "Come on angel don't you cry." Kind of a final way of saying everything will be okay.

Oh My Gosh. Vile, Seven Different Shades Of Shit.
I Agree The Photograph Bit Is About Fans.
But Maybe Its About The Break Up With His Girlfriend? Since, He Broke Up With Her After Writing Famous Last Words. The Single Cud Be ... Hes Broke Up With Her, But Now Misses Her, And Wants To Get Back In Her Arms....? And Also, Maybe Shes Really Upset They Broke Up, And Hes Saying Come On Angel, Don't You Cry. And Then The Kind Of 'Mocking' Lyrics Towards Fans, Maybe Mean, Hes Fed Up Of Them Wanting A Relationship With Him, And Hes Only Wants His Gf???
Just A Thought... =]

ok you people need to stop being to high and fucking mighty when someone gets some lyrics wrong or w/e becuz its getting on my nerves...it couldve been any of you who had made a mistake in hearing the lyrics so why be mean when you correct some1? i nvr heard bout Gee's g/f, but i dont think the song is about her. this song was written around the time of the break-up, but you know he broke up with her after WRITING famous last words, not after it was put out as a single...

I live in northern NJ, near where the Way brothers do. I think that the "oxycodone genocide" part refers to a massive drug bust in this section of our state, where there was a whole underground system of oxycodone at a nearby high school. I'm sure they've heard of it, they live right in the center of it all...

Just a guess =]
