Lyrics for Kill All Your Friends as interpreted by A Red Hotel

Kill All Your Friends Lyrics
Well you can hide a lot about yourself
But honey, what are you gonna do?
And you can sleep in a coffin
But the past ain't through with you,

Cuz we are all a bunch of liars
Tell me baby who do you wanna be?
And we are all about to sell it
Cus its tragic with a capital 'T'
Let it be, Let it be, LET IT BE!

Cuz we all wanna party when the funeral ends
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
And we all get together when we bury our friends
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
It's been 8 bitter years since I've been seeing your face
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
And you're walking away
And I will die in this place

Sometimes you scrape and sink so low,
I'm shocked at what you're capable of.
And if this is a coronation
I ain't feeling the love

Cuz we are all a bunch of animals
that never paid attention in school
So tell me all about your problems
I was killing before killing was cool
You're so cool, you're so cool [SO COOL

Cuz we all wanna party when a funeral ends
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
And we all get together when we bury our friends
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
It's been 9 bitter years since I've been seeing your face
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
And you're walking away and I will die in this place

You'll never take me alive, you'll never take me alive
Do what it takes to survive cos I'm still here
You'll never get me alive, you'll never take me alive
Do what it takes to survive and I'm still here
You'll never take me alive, you'll never get me alive
Do what it takes to survive and I'm still here
You'll never get me [Get me!, you'll never take me [Take me!
You'll never get me alive!

Cuz we all wanna party when the funeral ends
[Ba ba ba, ba ba baaa
And we all get together when we bury our friends
It's been 10 fucking years since
I've been seeing your face round here
And you're walking away and I will drown in the fear.

it pretty much reminds me of "teenagers"!!!!.... i'm not really sure about the meaning of this song.

So tell me all about your problems
I was killing before killing was cool
You’re so cool, you’re so cool

i think these lines sound like he's referring to the "emo-trend" or however you call it :D

Same with me, was gonna post lyrics but i think Red Hotel did a very good job! I don't get the deal really, but since it's called Kill All Your Friends, i believe he in the chorus means like Yeah kill them all so we can arrange this big party! Maybe it seems to him like that's the way this girl thinks.

But i dont have a good explanation of the song, i admit. Good one though, like all the others;)
Does anyone know if this is supposed to be a part of the story about the Patient, too?

*YOU'LL NEVER GET ME ALIVE*

i only had to listen to this song once to basically get the jist of what its about... placin the name of the song with the lyrics the song is about someone who was in love with antother probably in highschool or somethin and they are able to see that person again for the first time in years when they are re-united at a mutual friends funeral.. when the funeral ends that person has to watch the other walk out there life again after the funeral... they figure that the only way for them to see this other again is after the death of another friend.. hints the name "kill all your friends"

I think this song is about change. About how people change. It sounds like (as TheRipper said) a few highschool friends are reunited through a mutual friend's funeral. But the main character has remained basically the same throughout his life.

His friends have all changed into possibly something they said they never would be, or something they hated back in 'the day'.

Its about the main character just wanting to 'Kill All His Friends' for becoming the way they are.

Seems also; like there was a girl he might have been good friends with who also might have changed. He hasn't heard from her in 8 years and sees her at the funeral. He's upset because she's changed so much and has to watch her walk out of his life again.

And thats basically my interpretation;; and TheRipper, thanks. Because yours really helped me think a little about my own. [:

I agree with xXbUlLeTsXx except I don't think it's necessarily a girl. Doesn't have to be a love thing.

"If this is a coronation I ain't feeling the love" - everyone loves these people now that they've gained success except the speaker.

This is probably a weird way of looking at it, but if you look into the future a bit - it could totally make sense from the point of view of Matt Pelissier (ex-drummer) talking about them.

I love the sound. Some have said it sounds like Dresden Doll's 'Backstabber', and I have to agree.

But I love the guitar "whine" at the beginning and end, reminds me of the Pumpkins. And some of it reminds me of the Pixies 'Where Is My Mind?'

Great song.

To everyone who downloaded the song on Limewire: It would've cost you 0,99$ on Itunes.. why ILLEGALY download it?!!

Cos we all wanna party when the funeral ends
And we all get together when we bury our friends
Its been 8 bitter years since I’ve been seeing your face
And you’re walking away
And I will die in this place
Anyway I think the chorus is about how everyone makes a party of a funeral and don't respect death anymore.

Also, the persons he says he haven't seen the face in 8 - 9 - 10 years probably is his father. The patient is supposed to have died at a tragically young age. I don't think he would have had the time to hate an ex or somedody like that. There's a lot of reference to the other song on the Black Parade that makes me believe he is talking to his father.

i don't think this song necessarily has to have an underlying meaning.. i can relate to exactly what is being said...
i have turned to hate my "friends" after knowing them for so long... it's just a pity it took so long to find out what they're really like and now i'm stuck with them til i finish school "its been 10 fucking years since i've been seeing your face". they are sad pathetic selfish people who need to get a life..
"sometimes your scraping sinks so low i'm shocked at what you're capable of"
me and my best friend just want them out of our lives and this song says straight out just what im thinking!! XD

i_love_you_not has a good point, as does everyone else.
In each chorus the number of years changes which suggests to me a series of funerals.

The first part is about a friend who died, and left behind all her friends it seems because she hated the change going on around her.
The part after that is emphasizing this fact. Saying something like 'we are all gonna change and we're not who you knew. So who do you want to be?" It's tragic with a capital T is like saying it's very sad it has to happen, but it's just that, is has to.

The chorus always suggests meeting someone whom you knew once at your friend's funeral and knowing that when this whole affair is over you are going back to work and live in the town which you grew up while they walk away to their lives out of the hell hole they were raised in. He will die in this place because he refuses to accept change and can't just move on with his life.

*crap* continued
the next part is saying that they were all the same in high school, being the ones who were rebellious, and didn't pay attention, and that he doesn't care about they're problems but he wants to hear them anyway to rub it in their faces he was better than them all along, though this isn't true.

The rest is just explaining they can't get him or get to him and he's just going to live his mundane stable life in this crap-ass town.

I agree with the ripper. This song , in my interpretation, means that after high school this group of friends went there seperate ways. All of them changed and left there community to do something else. This character was the only one who stayed in his town and didnt change. Years later they were all reunited at a mutual friends funeral. I too believe that this character liked or likes this one person in the song and he has a chance to see her again after 8 years at this funeral. Then she leaves and things stay the same. Then nine years later "Its been nine bitter years since i;ve been seeing your face.." he sees that person again. Then, as before, this person leaves and he believes that he will never make anything out of himself and that he will always remain in this place: "...And i will die in this place". Then after ten years he really misses this person and after they leave yet again he is afraid on never seeing them again. i also agree with vampirexxrevenge . =) either way, what ever this means, i love this song. my chemical romance is truly a great band and i am glad to be a part of the group of fans that were with them from the beggining.

i forgot to mention a main part before.
"and we all get together when the funeral ends.. and we all like to party when we bury our friends."
the character is showing how the only time when they see each other is when they get together for a funeral. then they all go out to catch up on things after wards. then they all go there serperate ways, he stays, and he watches every one leave t ogo on with there life while he is awaiting the next funeral so they can all see each other again.

scraping sinks so low???? wtf

Sometimes you scrape and sink so low,
I'm shocked at what you're capable of.
And if this is a coronation,
I ain't feeling the love.
