You just havn't heard anything very different.

All comments are bullshit. I really expected more from your comments, guys. Anyway, for me this song is about leaving a place you think it would be more than you had expected your whole life (another country). You left the place full of regrets and bitterness because you tried to do the right thing all along; you tried to have the time of your life; you tried to have friends but you were a completely failure.

God didn´t show in your way. You tried, but you lost. And now everything is so cloudy. Your last days are coming before you return to your country. You start to remember the times you tried to be friendly, nice and polite with the people around you and how the people from that country were telling you ¨you are wrong¨ , ¨you are an idiot¨ ¨you don´t have to say thank you so much to the people¨ ¨you are doing everything wrong¨ (Just like the monkeys did in the fall out boy´s video).

As a result, at the end you got tired to be ¨nice¨and ¨cool¨ with the people around you and start to do the things in your own way. You stop trying to please the people. You stop trying to get the sympathy of the girls. You start to be the person you really are and start to say ¨fuck off¨ to everybody who is against you!

Finally, you return to your home with empty hands, but being more stronger...with only one thought inside:

Alright, the meaning of this one's been bugging me for a while so i took some time and this is what i got:

So there's this female law student or accounting student, something professional and elevating, but that requires 100% concentration. She's been working to the point of complete insanity so, in need of some sexual release, she hooks up with this guy at a bar, they have a one night stand and he never calls her again. But she's been totally focused on reaching her goals all her life, so she never understood what love was. She thinks that this was the love that people all around her had been looking for this whole time and when this mystery guy leaves her, she's pissed and wants revenge. So she whores herself to another guy and the song begins.

That's probably the deepest thing i could extract from that. It's either that or the student's a guy and he goes gay afterwards, whichever sounds better to you. Either way, Fall Out Boy shouldn't be revered for their lyrics, end of story.

its about a guy and girl who have been dating, and now there is nothing more to their relationship than sex and fun. They have basicly ended the relationship, but they both stay for the physical side of things. They are all about having fun, and they are living for the moment and not following the rules, "In case God doesn't show,

The guy has found someone else (i think it may possibly be a guy) and he trys to make her jeloious "See, he tastes like you, only sweeter" He knows dead down that him and the girl have nothing really, and he promises him self just "One night and one more time" but he keeps getting drawn back to her again and again.

it is not about heychris i'm pretty sure because of course the "tastes like you only sweeter". and then the heychris drama was a hell of a long time ago. and i think they've made up? i'm not sure. but the heychris bullshit was before decaydance really got off the ground and almost all the decaydance bands have been photographed with heychris. and they are all really good friends with pete.

after some scouring on wikipedia and google I got this:

"Thnks fr th Mmrs" is simply the words "Thanks for the Memories" with vowels removed, which was done to imply that it was written in text language. "

"he tastes like you but sweeter" is extremely close to a quote from the movie Closer with Jude Law and Julia Roberts and some other folks. I think the song generally follows that...

in the movie the character Anna is confessing to her husband thats she's been having an affair and he keeps pressuring her to tell him about their sex life, asking how it was, where they did it, they start screaming and he asks what he tastes like and she says "it tastes like you only sweeter" and then he stops and she leaves.

Sooo I think the song meaning follows more that pattern... woman leaving a man so she's saying "thanks for the memories even though they weren't so great" as in she wants better, and then saying he's better in bed.

I don't know, thats my general feel on it.

i kind of agree with the last post. I think it could mean either this is sung from the girls point of view.

Or maybe even the guys point of view if you put quotes around "he taste like you only sweeter" like the one night stand could be him hooking up with his ex gf that cheated on him and left him before..

.and then says "thanks for the memories even though they weren't so great" he could be thinking back to when she cheated then left him after saying "he taste like you only sweeter"


then where he talks about the crystal ball he could be saying how all he can see in his head is all the things she did to him in the past and he cant reallly see anything too good in the future as far as a good relationship so just "say a prayer and let the good times roll" (hook up with his ex despite the bad in the past)


i could be completely wrong but thats whatt i think

i think this is about a chick, cheating on him.
(don't mind me, i just skimmed right through all these comments)
and it's from his point of view.
"he tastes like you only sweeter"
recalling, on what she had said to him.
and he doesn't think the memories are all that great.
basically. cheating.

but he still likes the past.
cause his future isn't going all that great.
and he had great times with her.

i don't know.

This song is catchy, I admit. But why is the title spelled all gimpy? Are they that lazy to write the real words? "Thanks for the Memories..." not that hard! the video is funny the first few times around, but it's really annoying now. Espeically when it beats out the better videos. This band has so much hype.

And the line "In case God doesn't show" = not cool.
