Lyrics for Thnks Fr Th Mmrs as interpreted by rust3dxh3art

Thnks Fr Th Mmrs Lyrics
Im gonna make it bend and break,
They sent you to me without wings,
Say a prayer, but let the good times roll,
In case God doesn't show,
Let the good times roll (Let the good times roll)
And I want these words to make things right,
But its the wrong's that make the words come to life,
Who does he think he is?
If that's the worst you've got,
Better put your fingers back to the key.

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One night, yea, one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Been looking forward to the future,
But my eyesight is going bad,
And this crystal ball is,
Always cloudy except for (except for),
When you look into the past (look into the past),
One night stand (One night stand, oh)

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One night, yea, one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

They say I only think,
In the form of crunching numbers,
In hotel rooms, collecting Page Six lovers,
Get me out of my mind, and get you out of those clothes.
Im a liner away from getting you into the mood.
Woah-oh.

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One night, (Woah) Yea (Woah) one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

One more night,
One more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One (more) night, Yea one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.

The song, according to bassist Pete Wentz in an interview with Kerrang!, refers to a romantic relationship in which the initial sentiments have perished, but both lovers continue to "sleep with each other" to appease their physical desires. The title, "Thnks fr th Mmrs" is simply the words "Thanks for the Memories" with vowels removed, which was done to imply that it was written in text language. The line "He tastes like you, only sweeter" is borrowed from the 2004 film, Closer (in the movie, the line is "he tastes like you, but sweeter).

In the scene when Pete is getting make-up on his face, the name in his cell phone is William Beckett, the lead singer for The Academy Is.... This is in reference to TAI's video "We've Got a Big Mess on Our Hands," therefore linking the two videos.

At the conclusion of the video, Pete smashes the large B of FOB, leaving behind the FO, which in internet terminology means Fuck Off. If this is the intention, then this is an obvious sign of his frustration and anger at the monkeys.
In one scene, you can see on the video markers that the director's name is Alan Furryson, as a spoof of the director Alan Ferguson, who directed Fall Out Boy's This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race music video.

n yea .. luv this song .. n the vid is great .. yay 4 pete and patrick i.e peterick :P

Fall Out Boy represents almost all that is wrong with popular music.
bands with no talent like FOB have shitloads of fans
and actual good bands with talent cant break into the mainstream because of closed-minded music "fans" who listen to bands that sound the same as 60% of the other bands around at that time.

How can you say Fall Out Boy is original in any way? They're just another pop-punk band that sounds the same as the rest. Oh im sorry, another pop-punk band who's instrumentation sounds the same as the rest of them. You're right, Fall Out Boy is unique; they use the instrumentation of every other pop-punk band and blend it with unintelligible vocals.

So groundbreaking, eh?

am i the only one who thinks the first 9 seconds sound like something that belongs in a musical? especially the line "I'm gonna make it bend and break" (with the way he sings 'break')...

[EmpireOfDirt]:
i have questions for ppl like you.
first of all, why do you go to bands you hate and post complaints? do u actually think that u are convincing some ppl that fall out boy sucks?
do u think anyone could possibly be stupid enuff to think to them selves "hmmm. this band is incredibly popular. but this person hates them. so i'll hate them too!"?
why does EVERYONE have to rag on fall out boy? wat makes so many ppl loathe them?
i mean, i hate some music too, but it doesnt mean i constantly insult them.
and, um, isnt that kind of your opinion? that fall out boy sucks, i mean. its not fact. so why do u act like its undeniable truth?
answers would be much appreciated...

I think the lyrics are from the point of view of a prostitute. It is a very sad song if you read it this way... a prostitute who is very jaded with a bit of an attitude.

I’m gonna make it bend and break (She is talking about the John is suppose to meet, probably his dick)
She says a prayer before she does the act which is the “good times” in case god doesn’t show and something goes wrong. Through these lyrics she is trying to make things right but it is through her experiences that she can write the song (sort of cry on the couch, all the poets come to life -Thriller).

The chorus is the girl flippantly saying bye to the guy, giving him an insincere goodbye and the line so famously delivered in the movie Closer. That line is so awesome, I could see Pete taking that line, creating a character and writing a whole song about it. One night and one more time is the repetitive nature of her business.

The second stanza is pretty vague about not seeing the future but seeing the past and mistakes very clearly. (I know where to put all of our mistakes, Every dot com’s refreshing for a journal update –Thriller).

Third stanza is key for the prostitute, they think only in making money and crunching numbers. In hotel rooms servicing famous Johns. She has to change who she is before fucking the guy. The liner could be a line of coke for her or the John.

The last chorus, Pete echoes in One more night, one more time…. As if she is saying, this is it, just one more time and I’ll quit…….

Because of the intro I skipped over this song the last 4 weeks I have been listening to this album. This album has so much depth…… I think they just used this song as part of an intro during the NCAA Basketball finals… Go gadors!!! Their music makes other songs sound watered down. The intensity they put into it is amazing.

Their songs are not complex, not complicated, but they use a lot of metaphors, and they are damn catchy, very defiant. The vocals are brash. The music is unapologetic and confident. One of the best albums I have head in a long time.

i bet you theres some sort of meaning in the removal of the vowels from the song title.

and the line "in case god doesnt show/ let the good times roll" is pretty bold. i love this for that. just goes to show that god isn't going to show. but i bet you've all figured that one out already. or not? i'll leave you to it.

omgz&&btw - the title isn't text message talk. it's just the vowels are gone. think of stuff pete doesnt have. let it represent the vowels. maybe you'll come up with something interesting.

I'm not necessarily trying to change anyone's opinion.
I am curious, however, why people listen to music that all sounds the same.
When so many bands sound the same way the music becomes only music, not art anymore.
And thats what Fall Out Boy is, only music.

"One night and one more time,

hi, closer refferences. that was a great movie. i rented it because i'm totally intrigued by panic! at the disco's lyrics (their song title 'lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off (but it's better if you do) is from the movie) and heard the "he tastes like you but sweeter" part and was like "DANGGG. HOW MANY BANDS ARE GONNA RIP OFF THIS MOVIE?!"
i'm glad they did though.
it's fantastic.

"he tastes like you, only sweeter" is a line from Closer so is two of Panic! At The Disco's song names combined (Lying Is The Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off and But It's Better If You Do) and in the video the monkey mentions Panic! At The Disco is there something i'm missing?
