Lyrics for Thnks Fr Th Mmrs as interpreted by rust3dxh3art

Thnks Fr Th Mmrs Lyrics
Im gonna make it bend and break,
They sent you to me without wings,
Say a prayer, but let the good times roll,
In case God doesn't show,
Let the good times roll (Let the good times roll)
And I want these words to make things right,
But its the wrong's that make the words come to life,
Who does he think he is?
If that's the worst you've got,
Better put your fingers back to the key.

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One night, yea, one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

Been looking forward to the future,
But my eyesight is going bad,
And this crystal ball is,
Always cloudy except for (except for),
When you look into the past (look into the past),
One night stand (One night stand, oh)

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One night, yea, one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

They say I only think,
In the form of crunching numbers,
In hotel rooms, collecting Page Six lovers,
Get me out of my mind, and get you out of those clothes.
Im a liner away from getting you into the mood.
Woah-oh.

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One night, (Woah) Yea (Woah) one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

One more night,
One more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, only sweeter,
One (more) night, Yea one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Thanks for the memories,
See, he tastes like you, only sweeter.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh.

It's a musical synopsis of the Clive Owen (Dr. Larry)/Julia Roberts (Anna) relationship in the movie "Closer". This film seems to be a firm fave among FBR bands, as both "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Her Clothes Off" and "But It's Better If You Do" by Panic! At The Disco, are lines said by Natalie Portman (Alice/Jayne) during the scene where she "entertains" Clive Owen. Infact, the song "But It's Better If You Do" serves as a synopsis of Clive Owen's feelings in this scene.

okay here's what i think this song means:
after reading every post i think this is about chris and the whole letter he posted online for pete.
the lines "And I want these words to make things right,
But its the wrong's that make the words come to life" mean that pete wants to make things right with chris, but it is the hard times that he goes through that gives him such awesome lyrics
then "Who does he think he is?
If that's the worst you've got,
Better put your fingers back to the key." is a direct response to the letter, like he's saying to chris that that wasn't the worst he could say, and he should try again writing bad things about pete, like hitting the keyboard once more.

the chorus i think is related to pete and chris gf fooling around. like a one night stand hence "thanks for the memories, even though they werent so great" then the closer reference is to the gf cheating on chris with pete.
"They say I only think,
In the form of crunching numbers,
In hotel rooms, collecting Page Six lovers" this is referring again to chris letter, like how pete is a sell out and a fraud, how he doesnt care about his fans or anyone anymore. the page six lovers is definitely referring to his affairs with stupid celebrites ie ashlee simpson, lindsay lohan, michelle tratchenberg and the list goes on...

this is a great song, and not so much what i would've expected from fall out boy...

ps- for the title, i would say it has no vowels because of the whole internet language, which the fight between both originated

The title could just have a simple explination. Frank Sinatra released a song called thanks for the memories, could the title just not be a way to simply stop anyone from complaining? Think about it, they wanna sue this title Sinatraalready has it so what do you do? Make it vowel-less so its the same but different simple

I think this is such a great song..
Brilliantly written...

Btw, the line "he tastes like you, only sweeter" is from the movie Closer; Julia Roberts says it to Clive Owen.. (Such a great line by the way..!)

Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, but am way too lazy to read all the comments..

okay, personally, I think this song copies a lot of lyrics from other songs. For example, "I want these words to make things right...." sounds an awful lot like a line from "Touch the Sky" by Kanye West, when he says "I'm trying to write my wrongs,
But it's funny these same wrongs helped me write this song".

And "In case God doesn't show" sounds like "Or was it God who choked in these situations, running late, oh no he called in" from "Nails For Breakfast, Tacks for Snacks" by Panic!

Plus, "its always cloudy except for when you look into the past" is just like "we must stare into a crystal ball and only see the past" from "At the Bottom of Everything" by Bright Eyes.

Overall this song's ok, but by far not one of the better songs on the album.

The song is absolutely great. I think this song is about never being in a steady relationship. And when you do that you end up with all these memories...

I think the:

Is that the worst you’ve got?
But it puts your fingers back to the key

is wrong.

Its:

If thats the worst you got
Better put your fingers back to the keys

the title is thnks fr th mmrs because they said people were complaining about our song titles being too long so we decided to take out all the vowels. and on the cd case its thnks fr th mmrs.

i really liked this song, but still my favorite song by them is Chicago Is So Two Years Ago (which is funny because it talks about the same this as thnks fr th mmrs) also, what was with the monkeys?!? Were they supposed to represent the guy who slept with pete's girl?

people please get the cd and read the lyrics inside the cover.
"If that's the worst you've got
JUST put your fingers back to the keys."

"One night stand, One night stand OFF" (or so it says in the lyrics)

"Collecting PAGE SIX lovers"

"They say I only think in the form of crunching numbers"

"I'm a liner away
From getting you into the mood"

Those are the lyrics that came with the cd. I think the band knows the right lyrics.

"The single released by the Chicago band Fall Out Boy, is featured on their 2007 release Infinity on High. The song, according to bassist Pete Wentz in an interview with Kerrang!, refers to a romantic relationship in which the initial sentiments have perished, but both lovers continue to "sleep with each other" to appease their physical desires. The title, "Thnks fr th Mmrs" is simply the words "Thanks for the Memories" with vowels removed, which was done to imply that it was written in text language. The line "He tastes like you, only sweeter" is borrowed from the 2004 film, Closer (in the movie, the line is "he tastes like you, but sweeter). It features Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds on mandolin and The Movement Orchestra Strings."

Not my interpretation... something I found on YouTube. Anyone have the video code for it? Can't find it ANYWHERE.

Hiya people.
Sorry someone may have already given this opinion, as I haven't had time to get all way through this thread, but I'm in a play at the moment and as I was walking to work this morning I heard this song (I didn't realise it was the AMAZING Fall Out Boy!). And I recognised that the songs plot borrowed heavily from the play I'm in- which became the 2004 movie - Closer. "He tastes like you only sweeter" is my line! :D It was only just now I discovered this was Fall Out Boy's song. A friend of mine recomended their new song, and after looking up the lyrics I started jumping up and down. "I've already heard it! It's the Closer song!!!"

In the second act of the play (I haven't seen the movie yet so I presume it's there too) Larry and Anna meet up to finalise their divorce after Anna cheats on him, and Larry will only sign the divorce papers if she sleeps with him one more time

One night and one more time,
Thanks for the memories,
Even though they weren't so great,
He tastes like you, but sweeter.

FOB aren't the only band to have ever Homaged the play/movie. Panic! at the Disco have two songs which are each named after half of the line 'Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off, but it's better if you do'. FOB and Panic seem to work on the same tangent (sp). It's also worth noting that in the 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs' video I just watched the director (who just happens to be a monkey) sreeches at them "You guys are a joke! I should have gotten Panic! At The Disco!"

And yes I've just found everybody has discussed the same thing! At least it means I'm on the right track!
Thank you! xx

It sounds really gay XD.

It's okay, I guess. Fall Out Boy are overrated though.
