My favorite song on the album. I can't help but sing along every time I hear it.

Ah! I get it now! I've seen that movie, can't believe I didn't get that. I found that line a little strange.

I think it's about a one night stand with someone who's cheated on you in the past.

This song is clearly about the end of Pete Wentz's friendship with childhood friend Christopher Gutierrez. It's sort of a long story, but most of the legit. fans know what I'm talking about.
The whole "put your fingers back to the keys" thing definitely references Chris's tirade against Pete in his livejournal. And the lines about one-night-stands support the theory that Pete was messing around with Chris's girlfriend, Kate.

This song rocks, Fall Out Boy moving in another direction while still being just the way they are (how great are these effing lyrics?! Pete is just a freakin legend!) and i'm fu*king there!

The HeyChris theory fits. "And I want these words to make things right, but it’s the wrong that make the words come to life" - he wants this song to make things right with him, but his mistakes are what made him write this song in the first place. And the part "they say you only think, in the form of crunching numbers" could be about Chris saying in that post that Pete has sold out and only cares about the money and attention.

Love this song. And the theory fits, of course.
And I loved the reference to "Closer."
The meaning was so confusing at first, because,
Like "Calm Before The Strom" it began to sound x-rated based on the "He tastes like you, only sweeter" and of course, that got people talking.
I knew that the song had something to do with one night stands, and not because of the actual line stating it.
But I never even thought about the chris theory.
So, thanks.

The title is wrong. This annoys me.

Uh, I have the CD on my computer and it says "Thanks For The Memories"

I love this album! This didn't disappoint me. And Patrick's vocals have gotten better.. But he needs to have his words come out clearer.

I've seen the titles written both ways on various different sources so Im not sure which it is yet- either way ,I cant change it to the vowel-less version as its already been posted on here. Besides...try pronouncing 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs' ?

It's still spoken as 'Thanks For The Memories' but the correct title is 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs', the other title minus any vowels. As so aptly pointed out above as text message language.
