I will be the one who loves you the most Lyrics
When the sky is falling from above you
And the wind is raging from the coast And you want someone who truly loves you I will be the one who loves you the most When the masquerades in burlesque falls But come too ordinary to boast You complain about the rain and hurting calls I will be the one who loves you the most I will be the one who loves you the most When the women with their stolen graces Don't invite you to play host To their daughters with fake faces I will be the one who loves you the most When all the debutants desert you All the doorways are all closed And all the harlequins who've hurt you I will be the one who loves you the most I will be the one who loves you the most When you'll suit a sneering swank beside you And leave you hollow like a ghost And you just want somebody to come find you I will be the one who loves you the most I will be the one who loves you the most When you forgive your imperfections And you've auctioned all your clothes And you look to see your true reflection You will be the one who loves you the most You will be the one who loves you the most You will be the one who loves you the most

To me it is about him admitting that he will always be there, whatever happens, yet at the end, he realises that the one he is confessing to doesnt see him at all. It's really cute the way he sings it. A lovely voice If i do say so.
But it's really sad cos she obviously doesnt really appreciate him and his being-there-ness.
"and you just want somebody to come find you"
He is lost
Alone, desperate for her
Yet, alas she is pretty much blind.

he's telling her he will always love her and be there for her when the shallow, fake, worldly things let her down. he loves her for who she truly is and not who she's trying to be.

I think it's about loving some one but still waiting for them to love themselves.
Like being with some one who's insecure.
And this insecure makes a big deal about all these things happening to her (as julysun puts it 'shallow, fake, worldy things)...and she just doesn't feel that fantastic because she's 'not invited to play host' and the 'debutants have deserted' her. And he's trying to say he's still there.
I agree with Ize that she doesn't notice because of the 'you want someone who truly loves you'.. She can want it, but she probably can't recognise it because she doesn't love herself.

instead of looking outside yourself for someone to complete you and fill you up, Brett is showing us that all the love we need is inside of ourselves, and when we can finally recognize that, we no longer have to keep searching for someone to love us, because the most powerful love of all is already within us.
brilliant message.

It's not *in burlesque falls* it's *and burlesque balls*
Also, it's not *hurting calls*..pretty sure it's *curtain calls* :)
