When I wake up,
and the day begins,
do I hold my breath
and count to ten?
Or will it be three?
We'll see, we'll see.
It depends on which day of the week.

And I sing out,
I sing out loud.
I'm just one
motherfucker singing proud.
Singing glory,
Glory,
Hallelujah.
Yeah, that'll do.
Yeah, that'll do.

In the arms of a city
that holds no space
for the friendly faces
of you and me
Go make a life,
not a living.
Singing glory,
Glory,
Hallelujah.
Yeah, that'll do.

There's things to know,
and so we're told.
But the days
keep rolling on so painfully playing slow.
And room to grow,
but blow by blow,
Ya see, i always gets lost somewhere.
See, I already forgot.

To sing out,
I wanna sing out loud.
You should be another
mother fucker
singing proud.
Sing out glory,
Glory,
Remind me, glory, glory, glory, hallelu...

We should all keep pretending,
that our dreams are patent pending,
You should see
some of the scenes that I've seen.
And I know love,
'cause I've flown above
and beyond,
but it's still too long of a wait.

That's why I sing out,
I sing out loud,
We should be 10,000 mother fuckers singing out,
Sing out glory, glory, glory, glory, hallelu..
Yea, that'll do,
Yea, that'll do.

I'll sing my story for you,
and you will sing for me, too,
and together,
we can make it through.
They say,
"When you sing you're prayin' twice."
Don't that sound nice?
So, rise up,
come on, and give it a try.

So sing out,
Sing out loud,
We can be 6 billion mother fuckers singing proud,
Oh, sing it loud,
Sing glory,
Glory, glory, glory,
Hallelu... Hallelu... Hallelu...
Hal... Hal... Hallelu... Hallelu... jah...
Hallelujah...
Hallelu...
Oh, say hallelu.

General Comment:m0nkeybizness's - Calling us Motherf***ers is brilliant! The term Motherf***er shows how a man degrades himself entirely by f***ing his mother, insulting the one who gave him life. He f***s his own existence by f***ing his life-giver. Jason Mraz is NOT saying we're MoFo's to our own moms, but we ARE MoFo's when it comes to life. We f*** up because we don't LIVE - busy making a living (eat, sh*t, sleep, die). We forget to dream, love, live. So we insult "the mother of life" by not living it. We all MoFo's!

This is probably one of the most accurate interpretations I've seen so far, taken from youtube.com/…, a lyric video.

General Comment:I avoided this for a while because of the title. He makes "motherfucker" sound like such a tender word. I think that's one of his favorite words (see Collapsible Plans)

General Comment:My friends have seen the title on my zune and gasped that I would have such a song. I try to convince them to listen to it, but they can't look past the title which is a shame because they can't look past the surface.
When I heard it I was shocked by how beautiful and moving it is. It has kinda given me a new outlook on certain things. I am so happy I discovered it!

General Comment:This song is so amazing.
It really does bring everyone together and just remind me that no matter how different everyone is, there is a spirit of unity in the human soul and we are all on this planet together.
    And we all fuck up.

General Comment:I know when I turned on a song called 10,000 Motherfuckers, I was not expecting it to take my breath away. Well done, Jason.

General Comment:I think MG has a point. You don't expect a song with this title to be so poignant. And I think that is part of the point. It is about unity and looking beyond surface to find it. Mraz is a master lyricist.

General Comment:wow im surprised no one has commented this. It's one of the most powerful songs Mraz has written. But i think everyone gets the idea of the song. Unity.

General Comment:You'd never expect a song with such a title to be so poignant, but it is. It's actually a really inspiring song.
