Lyrics for This Is Fucking Ecstasy as interpreted by chia like

This Is Fucking Ecstasy Lyrics
I'm sinking yet I'll stride
A satchel filled with files
The secrets of the tribe
The cameras follow me for miles

Born a slave in 1984,
I discovered that my life is just a record they perform
A major album,
Please, tell me what you think of this one
Tell me what you think of this one

'Cause now I've sold you out
Now that there's no doubt
Now I've called you out
Now I've sold you out

They strapped me to the roof
and cut right through me
Diggin' through my wounds
I watched them helplessly in shock
Where are my pills, where is my former lover?
I've been betrayed by everyone I know who's blown my feeble cover

So tell me what you think of this one
Tell me what you think of this gun

Now I've sold you out
Now that there's no doubt
Now I've called you out
Now I've sold you out

'Cause the truth is this:
I finally know what they conceived so long ago
A baby wrapped, Defence a test,
The poison learned from what we're pressed
The needle burn, the Pendants fly, the shackles tear...
Could never guard
This place I live in hyper speed

I shall not live; I shall not breathe again

This is fuckin' ecstasy
This is fuckin' leprosy
This life that's fuckin' testin' me
I'm in fuckin' ecstasy

i saw this live at the electric factory when he played it. max's voice is seriously amazing on this song, and it's going to be a major hit when the new album drops.

I LOVE IT.

um... sounds cool... wats with the 1984? is that the year of his birth or some tripped out reference to the book? cos i guess in a way you could see it as that... Meh! peace out! xx

"A major album, please" should be "A maze where I was placed." I think there are some more errors in the first few lines, but i'm not positive. I think "sinking" is "sprinting."

"Helplessly in shock" is "hopelessly and choke."

Also:
"Defence" is "for them"
"poison learned from what we're pressed" is "poison's on a rubber press"
"the pendants fly" is "dependence on"
"tear could never guard" is "here are never gone"
"This life that's" is "It's like they're"

and various omissions of words like the.

I'm sprinting yet I stride, my satchel filled with files
(The secrets of the tribe) The cameras follow me for miles
Born a slave in 1984, discovered that my life is just a record they performed.
A maze where I was placed
Tell me what you think of this one
Tell me what you think of this one
Because now I've sold you out
(Erase me, erase me I'm done)
Now that there's no doubt
(My feet find the freeway, I run)
Now I've called you out
(Erase me, erase me I'm done)
Now I've sold you out
They strap me to the roof and they cut right through me
Digging through my wounds, I watch them hopelessly and choke:
"Where are my pills? Where is my former lover?"
I've been betrayed by everyone I know, don't blow my feeble cover.
Tell me what you think of this one
Tell me what you think of this gun
Because now I've sold you out
(Erase me, erase me I'm done)
Now that there's no doubt
(My feet find the freeway, I run)
Now I've called you out
(Erase me, erase me I'm done)
Now I've sold you out
Because the truth is this: I finally know what they conceived so long ago.
A baby rat for them to test the poisons on, a rubber breast
for me to learn dependence on. The shackles here, but now they're gone
In place I live in hyperspeed. I shall not live. I shall not breathe again
This is fucking ecstasy. This is fucking leprosy
It's like they're fucking testing me. This is fucking ecstasy.

Considering the fact that In Defense of the Genre was meant to be a "concept album" and do what ...IaRB attempted to by following a story line, and that Max has definitely struggled with Bipolar Disorder, I think this song is describing what goes on in his head during his manic phase (I'm bipolar, too, and I feel like I can totally relate to this song, on a less extreme level). "The Church Channel" is the next song on the CD, where he wakes up in a mental hospital and "realizes he's insane again," so I'm pretty sure my interpretation is correct:

He didn't take his medication ("Where are my pills?"), obviously. And "Tell me what you think of this gun" paints a vivid picture in my mind of a psychotic Max waving a gun around, which might be an exaggerated interpretation but entertaining nonetheless. "... I live in hyperspeed/ I shall not live/ I shall not breathe again/ This is fucking ecstasy/ this is fucking leprosy/ it's like they're fucking testing me/ this is fucking ecstasy" is a PERFECT description of mania - you feel invincible and wonderful and really "alive", and even though it's still an illness, it's still fucking ecstasy.

Obviously I devote too much of my time analyzing lyrics.

UHmerican's pretty much got it... there's a video of Max on youtube where he tells about his problems with bipolar disorder, and how he thought that his life was being filmed (like the Truman Show) and that would explain the line about the cameras

I just want to comment on one line in the song "the cameras follow me for miles" is a relation to when max had entered his manic state in bipolar and believed his like was "essentially the truman show" and that he had been filmed his whole- theres a whole interview on the website halfofus.com it has that fag pete wentz and like models talking about their problems with either anorexia or bipolar in max's case...max's is the only good one

1984 is a great book, and its good to see more people writing songs about books themselves.
Oingo Boingo also have a song based on 1984 (called 1984,surprise surprise).
If you haven't read 1984 and you like this song,do yourself a favour and get a copy (its by George Orwell).
Also the irony of the song title is a mirror image of the last few words of the book.

1) the lyrics were submitted january 2007, the album came out october 2007, which means whoever submitted this got the lyrics from a live version of the song, and SOME lyrics were most likely rewritten for the album
2) 1984 is the date of his birth, check wikipedia, and
3) the song is obviously about his outbreak during the writing of the first record, as he explains in the "half of us" interview which justifies the "born a slave in 1984" line, most likely nothing to do with a book
thank you.
