I'm not a Take That fan in any shape or form but these lyrics really resonated with where I was then.
I haven't picked up any mind or mood altering substance since that hospital stay in June 2009.

I worked out that the meaning may be something to do with Robbie.
Think about it. The lyrics, who sung it and how close to the comeback it was released. It all fits together, dosen't it?
but this is actually good
I think its about a person who is kind of depressed for no real reason and has like a big black cloud over their head clogging their thoughts or as they say "stuck in a hole" and the person behind the song is trying to lift them out and lift their spirits, and trying to make them realize that they could be so much happier just by changing their views on things.
