I've finally come to realize that we are all the same
If there's nothing left to lose then there's every to gain
All the paragraphs and pages you could write could not contain
It is curious and careless and it's flowing through my veins
The fear of growing old, and doing what you're told
You can't disguise a heart while it's breaking
You hide behind the smile you're faking
It's all about the the chance you're taking
Oh, and you know that you're making it all come alive
If your life is so damn comfortable then why do you complain?
A reflection in the alcohol you're pouring down the drain
Just because you paint a picture doesn't mean it fits the frame
This is my West Coast intervention and I'm getting on that plane
When all of your mistakes are keeping you awake
The sun is setting and it's ending 'cause you're letting it go
Forgetting everything you already know
And it all goes to show that you're moving to slow
It will end up changing you, it will end up changing you
Life flies by so you have to embrace it
Forget the past 'cause you cannot erase it
So live the dream, and learn to chase it
And when you can almost taste it
It's all come alive
It will end up changing you, it will end up changing you
Life flies by so you have to embrace it
Forget the past 'cause you cannot erase it
So live the dream, and learn to chase it
And when you can almost taste it
It's all come alive

life flies by so you have to embrace it. forget the pastr cuz you cannot erase it. live the dream and learn to chase it.
why do we waste so much time dwelling on what has been? tomorrow could be so much better. the past is gone, over, goodbye. seriously. watch the butterfly effect. its like one of the greatest movies ever. and whats the point? that the past is the past and it cant be altered.
maybe the future is the future and that cant be altered either. its just a thought.
So this could be a story of a friend(girl) of the narrator, and how she is with a guy who doesn't love her but is using her for sex. It is killing her inside, and the narrator is trying to conivince the girl to stop.
"The fear of Growing old and doing what your told." The girl is afraid of growing old, and doing what she's told. She fears growing up and not having someone, and being what everyone expects.
She is being pressured into having sex. She is happy with who she is with, but she complains because that person wants her to give up herself to him. "If your life is so damn comfortable then why do you complain?"
The person gets her drunk to make her more susceptible, but her pouring down the alcohol is a reflection to how she doesn't want to have sex with him. "A reflection in the alcohol your pouring down the drain."
The narrator being a good friend of hers can tell that somethings wrong despite her trying to tell him that everything is ok. "Just because you paint a picture doesn't mean it fits the frame."
He wants to help her and make her change her before it's too late, so he gets on a plane to the west coast, I think the band is from Virginia(not positive). "This is my west coast intervention and I'm getting on that plane."
Her "mistakes", having sex with the guy, are keeping her awake. Literally keeping her awake, and metaphorically she is upset and losing sleep over it. "When all of your mistakes, are keeping you awake."
After their intervention she is with the guy again, and it's getting late and he's trying to have sex with her again. She tries to stop him but she ends up giving in. The guy convinces her, so she does what she's told. She's forgetting what the narrator said to her in the intervention. "The sun is setting, and it's ending 'cause your letting it go forgetting everything you already know."
The narrator says that because of this, it is changing her. "It'll end up changing you"
In the chorus, the narrator says that she can't hide her heart break, that he can see through her fake
smiles. He knows something is wrong. Her hurt is all about her staying with the guy and having sex with him. She's making her fears of growing old(without someone) and doing what she's told(having sex), are coming alive. "You can't disguise a heart while it's breaking. You hide behind the smile you're faking. It's all about the the chance you're taking. Oh, and you know that you're making it all come alive."
Well in the end of it, the narrator is saying that life is short so embrace the good parts, forget all your mistakes and being with that guy because you can't do anything about it, so live your life and chase your dreams, and if you do that, you will be happy, your life will come alive. "Life flies by so you have to embrace it, forget the past because you can not erase it, so live the dream and learn to chase it. And when you can almost taste it, it's all come alive."
So basically the girl is in a bad relationship, where the guy doesn't care about her, and is just using her for sex. She tells the narrator that everything is fine but he knows better, and he flies down to California of west coast, like the knight in shing armor to save her from her life and turn her life around. He talks to her and she says that she will end it, but she can't do it right away, she's moving to slow. She gives in to him again. The narrator says that if she does'nt do it soon it will change her, and he tells her that life is short, forget that guy and embrace life. That's the only way you will truly be alive.
Just a theory.
im not done, but i hope this helps you guys
Your Making It Come Alive
by: My Favorite Highway
There are over 200 definitions for the word 'Life' in the dictionary, yet only one true meaning. Most people don’t understand the value behind the word 'Life', however the song Your Making it Come Alive by My Favorite Highway exposes its meaning in a way more explicit than any dictionary can. I chose this song because it touches on all aspects of life including love, loss, friendship, and living life to its fullest. It was written from a teens point of view, yet anyone of any age can relate to its lyrics. However it's difficult to pick only one theme of this story, since it examines so many articles of life.
Initially, the first line of lyric to this song is, "I’ve finally come to realize that we're all the same, if theirs nothing left to lose then theirs everything to gain." This statement illustrates that when it comes down to it, we all are very similar when we don’t have to worry about losing the life we have. For example, when we're babies we're all basically the same, having an apathetic feeling on what the world thinks of us. This is because we haven’t lived long enough to have anything to lose such as friends, popularity, or reputation. However we do have an entire life ahead to gain those things. The next lyric states "all the paragraphs and pages you can write and not contain." This expresses that we take a very small amount of what we do into ourselves throughout the coarse of our lives. For instance, most kids in school can write an essays on something and not remember it a week later, or understand what it really means. Its telling us that we're not robots, we need to understand what’s going on in our lives to really be in control of them. The final lyric to the first verse is "and its curious and careless, and its flowing through my veins. The fear of growing old, and doing what your told." All teenagers undergo this feeling. They're don’t think before they act and are eager to try new things. Its all part of growing up. I can personally relate to the next line because one of my greatest fears is growing up and not having anyone to lean on. I think a lot of kids feel this way, and are scared for what the future has in store for them.
Perhaps the most important part, the chorus examines the introduction of love into a teens life. It tells that teens are fragile and they cant hide from the heart breaks they go through, they just have to deal with it since time is the only medicine for a heartbreak. Also, it illustrates that true friends will see that there’s something wrong even when a smile is painted on their face. The second part to the chorus tells us that you have to live in the here and now, and don’t look back. It expresses this with the quote "its all about the change your taking, oh and you know that your making it all come alive." Basically, it tells us that you cant plan everything out in your life because there's always going to be twists and turns. Therefore, by not planning things out your taking a chance with everything you do because it all adds up to what you’ll later become. With these facts, by doing things in the present, accepting that the past is behind you, you can finally become fully alive.
I guess what I am trying to prove is that this songs moral is to never let yourself become someone you arent because you are scared of what you could be. When in the wake, the realization of what has happened is much worse than just feeling the realness of everything when as it happens
AMAZING.
he was saying something like this guy backstage
somwhere said "you're making it all come alive" and
this other person heard it and even though it wasn't
directed to him, it made him feel better.
something like that.
