He's not coming home
Her heart in her throat
As she falls to the floor
She shuns every memory
Every letter and call
Just to get through each second
She is slowly shutting off
Where's her sweet revenge?
Who will she blame?
Where's her freedom now?
How can she reclaim it?
He wipes the sweat from her face
As she moans in pain
A tiny and helpless life
Comes as if to say
Here's your sweetest gift
Take this moment
It's true and beautiful
In return for all your pain
Eyes wide, heart warm
She sees it in her face
If you watch the way the world gives back
In circles
He's not coming home
Her heart in her throat
As she falls to the floor
She shuns every memory
Every letter and call
Just to get through each second
She is slowly shutting off
Where's her sweet revenge?
Who will she blame?
Where's her freedom now?
How can she reclaim it?
He wipes the sweat from her face
As she moans in pain
A tiny and helpless life
Comes as if to say
Here's your sweetest gift
Take this moment
It's true and beautiful
In return for all your pain
Eyes wide, heart warm
She sees it in her face
If you watch the way the world gives back
In circles

"I was a little shook up by the song called Circles. I get that way whenever I feel the sadness of a loss coming about. It can be the loss of love or life or happiness; doesn’t matter. The song blatantly reminds you that just when you think life is going in the right direction it twains into directions you never anticipated. Natalie's lilting voice is well accompanied by a bluesy piano. Life does after all move in circles."

Natalie's voice is so hauntingly beautiful. This song is about the wife of a soldier at war. In the first stanza, she has just found out about his death. In the second stanza, it's describing how she reacts to it. She tries to shun all the memories out of her mind to stay strong, but she's failing fast.
Then the third, fourth, and fifth stanzas are about her giving birth to their child that she was pregnant with. The baby looks like her husband did. It's her sweetest gift, and it's a reminder to her that the world always gives back to you, even after insurmountable pain.
