Pinch me, is this real
This feeling of release?
I'm floating in your Heaven
In the corners of my dreams
Tasting life
Numb again
Close my eyes
It begins
I cannot stumble here
I am safe inside my head
When I wake up I'll forget
I'll come back to my mess
Safe inside my mind, my head (x4)
I will not leave
Stay asleep
Step further in
My ecstasy
This feeling of release?
I'm floating in your Heaven
In the corners of my dreams
Tasting life
Numb again
Close my eyes
It begins
I cannot stumble here
I am safe inside my head
When I wake up I'll forget
I'll come back to my mess
Safe inside my mind, my head (x4)
I will not leave
Stay asleep
Step further in
My ecstasy

I see the resemblance with drug addiction though, because constantly dreaming with the life you would like to have, is also a kind of addiction, it all comes down to obssessing yourself with something instead of dealing with your own problems or emptiness or whatever for fear of beeing unable to change things, this is, because of your insecurity. So I think this song is basically about fear, and avoidance of reality.
Love is a lot like a drug that way, one that can get you higher than you ever would have thought possible without it, and lets you down really really hard.
This song is actually sharply painful for me to listen to, gorgeous as it is.
The line is:
"Safe inside my mind I hide..." according to the book.

At first, it puts off the impression that it's about drugs, but if you think about the words over and over again, and apply them to what they might mean in your life.... This is what I got.
In this song, dream is prefered over reality. In your dreams, you feel almost flawless ("I cannot stumble here"). Reality is hectic, crazy, and so full of chaos ("I'll come back to this mess").
"Pinch me, is this real, this feeling of release?"
I translate this to... Life isn't as good as this, this can't be real.
So, if you think about it, drugs and dreams are similar euphorias, seeing as the same words and lines can be traced between the two.
